Wow, with 145 cars, mostly loaded, I presume, it's not hard to see why there were five units up front! I get to spend a few weeks in Southern Pines/Aberdeen, NC every spring. I love watching the CSX trains roll past the coffee shop on Broad St., Southern Pines. Great capture!
Great video! If you notice starting at around 00:49, the exhaust coming from the lead ES44AH, and the second loco SD40-2. Locos 3, 4, and 5 are not showing must exhaust. Looks like locos 3, 4, and 5 were isolated.
I love it! Like this train, I am big and slow myself. Proof that even in this hurry the Hell up/get it done right now world, slow and steady still wins the race occasionally!
Dave, just thinking about this..... 5 locomotives on the head-end.... and then recalling the videos from Scott, and you have locomotives at the head-end, and in between. Kinda' wonder why CSX wouldn't do that here..... Train had to have been at least 2 miles long.
if u listen closely as he approached the camera before blowing the horn u could hear the engines doing steel to steel wheel slipping that's what that high pitched squeal was as the locomotives approached

Super train video, Dave...we need to jump on-board, and travel to a warmer area...thank you for your friendship.

Great video, these are great to see just not as fun when it stops traffic to pass so I prefer to see them this way. Thanks for sharing!

That was some nice power (except for the GEVO's). Nice catch!
Just the opposite here. I thought the GEVOs were the stars of the show. :-)
