These older episodes are great! It's so much more interesting watching then the more polished show today.

Bob Vila is a national treasure. He’s an asset to America the likes of which we may never see again. Plus he’s hung like a horse.

Lolll well I haven’t seen the new episodes...but idk where you live but that’s average for where I live in this market... and I just appreciate how budget conscious they used to be

    • @Foxonian

This was back when WGBH owned the show. Even with some corporate sponsorship, it's still a PBS station doing it on tight budget. In the late 90' s when GBH sold This Old House to Time Inc., the money flowed right in.

Love this immensely (I know that isn't the coolest word, but couldn't think of one that was fantastic (lol)). It shows you the ease of some things and the prices today are off the charts. I loved watching this show because I started out about that time in general contracting but in the city, I lived in an apartment but love the look of working in and near those trees and the freshness of the cool crisp air, I could work all day long. Plus, way fewer people all around you. Gosh, I wish they would show all of these on t.v. again. Let's start a channel???

Glad to see you drop this knowledge about the compressor. I thought it was odd looking. I was born in 1980, so I don't remember this era. I do remember as a kid about 84-85 my dad renting a lot of equipment at the golf course he was the maintenance super at, big trenchers and bobcat s. I remember too that renting stuff like this seemed like a really new-fangled thing at the time.
