I’d almost forgotten how serene your sailing videos are. I like your style. And it’s good to see you’re taking a break from the boat build. Just like trimming sails, life needs balance too.
Thank you for sharing your sailing vacation-sorry about engine failure 🥺The Good think is you found a Rental Sailboat 🥰🙋♀️👍🏼💐your family needed a vacation -Remind you of why your working so hard building your New Boat .. my husband and I have been watching your adventures even befor Vera came 😊🥰We even saw Johonn Antarctic adventures with his friend-You adventures are so amazing.A reward for us for finding your channel. We have had our medical adventures Started a few weeks after Covid lockdown.utube sailing channels have saved our sanity Florence Sailing Back from round the world trip Old Sea Dog channel Tally Ho -With Leo and all the wooden boat rebuild ! Älskar verkligen er familj, Johans kunskap och driv, Malins lugn och altid stöd som sammans gör er otroligt stark! Ni är en fantastisk litren familj, All välsignelse åt er🥰
Lovely episode as always, so glad you all got away after the engine trouble. The Maxi's are amazing yachts, as you will know designed by Pelle Petterson. When we sailed from the East Coast of the UK, there was a fleet of Maxi 84's in Orford on the River Ore, that had been in charter in the the former Yugoslavia. The owners were aware of the uprising, so went out to "rescue" their own yachts which they owned. So under the cover of darkness they went aboard them all and gradually brought them all the way back to the UK. Best wishes to you all. Malcolm Perrins (DAN-FENDER)
So amazed by your ability to make the best of a bad situation. But maybe you were just in need of a break from fiberglassing. This is why I will watch you for another half a decade building a boat.
I am an artist in NYC. This series has been a joy to watch since I newly discovered it. It reflects my dream really. I have always been fascinated by sailing. And I will always love building things. I grew up with neighbors who had similar work spaces in thier yards where they built smaller boats. And I’ve always built things myself. I have recently been drawn to the idea of sailing more than I ever have before but I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I’m in my thirties I didn’t grow up doing it lol. (Though I did grow up in the ocean a lot)
Have never made a comment before even though I have been watching your vlogs for a number of years but had to say how wonderful your b roll was editted into this week's episode. It felt like it was one of your best vlogs ever.
Great you found another boat to relax with! It is very important to not always be occupied building your new (awesome!! ) boat! Vera is growing up so fast too! All the best!
So happy you pulled another boat out of your hat. Such a beautiful area to relax in. I can imagine my first boat there. She was a mahogany, glued seams, carvel planked 30 footer built in Sweden. Every inch of her inside and out, even the bilges, except her tiny curved cabin top and canvas decks, were varnished mahogany. The love of my life for 9 years, “Caprifol” I was so proud of her and loved flying her Swedish flag. 😊
So glad you got things worked out to e joy a nice Sailing Holiday. Indeed you needed a break to just mellow out on the beautiful waters around Sweden. You really captured the slow and relaxed pace of the sail theough your video. What fun for Vera to have such a special hideaway berth.
Vera, Malin & Johan: your truly blessed to have such a beautiful Family. This episode expressed the Love of Nature with perfect cinematography, editing and music. You lulled us to sleep on this Swedish Holiday! Thank you so much for sharing!
The subject is interesting but what makes this video exceptional is the excellent photography; the composition; the way you use cut-aways and the editing is the work of someone with skill and a deal of talent! But from you, that’s pretty normal.
Great to see you managed to overcome the problem at the start of your holiday, it looked like a really nice boat perfect for your holiday needs where you were intending to go. Malin you captured the surroundings so beautifully and what a beautiful area to sail in, its wonderful to see Vera growing up and totally enjoying herself on the boat and practicing rowing, I couldn't help but notice her trying to tie knots in every opportunity she got. Wishing you all well and I will continue following your progress on your yacht building journey 👍👍🇳🇿
Hi , you and your family, have sailed so many miles , so breaking down in the river , no sweat . The videos are magic every time , best of good fortune to you all .😉👍💅💅
This is so funny, I just came back from a vacation in Sweden this week and just last tuesday I was there sitting by the river where you left port. We had a beautiful walk round the nature reserve and ate at the smoked fish restaurant. The smoked fish was amazing! Highly recommend. The restaurant is on the other side of the river from the industrial area. Try the smoked fish, you won't regret it.
Stunning scenery - would definitely consider selling your current boat and just renting when you want to go out during the build. As others have said, a well deserved break!!
I agree. The cost of the boat, the maintenance, the berthing and insurance, when divided by the number of opportunities to sail whilst focusing on the build might make it very expensive. The added benefit of hiring is that you can get to sail around different locations more easily, dependant on where the hire boat is located. The boat might become an anchor when Ran III is complete, i.e. something they have to move before they can go.
@@horizonchasing Berthing and insurance is typically significantly cheaper than in the UK and the US. I own a 30-footer. Berthing, hauling out, storing on land over winter, launching, insurance and maintenance such as filters, oil, antifoul comes (converted to GBP) 2200 a year. And there are cheaper options. If I were to go with a cheaper insurance and don't haul out for winter, I could halve the total. Renting the very boat in this video for a week is around 600 GBP, and that's pretty cheap. However, once you factor in time, one the one hand what you spend on maintenance and care, vs how much time you spend sailing, renting might become the more attractive option.
The shoreline of Sweden where you were reminds me SO much of sailing in Southern New England in Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts and Connecticut.
It is fantastic to see you sailing again. I have done some epoxy wood boat building and but sailing is my love. Vera is AMAZING. I think you should ask her what to do or where to go and when it won't kill you go with that. She is learning at at an incredible rate. Let her take the lead.
The landscape is so much like Northern Ontario Canada . It’s called the Canadian Shield ! The rocks look identical . We go to the North Channel & Georgian Bay .
So you ended up not so far from where I live (Norrköping), since you had to change vessel. Nothing bad that hasn't something good in it... 😉 And thank you so much for the very nice open house last Saturday. It was so fun meeting you and see the boat and your farm in real life (and I could also see myself glimpse past 😃). I'm already looking forward to next years open house!
You all deserved a long soothing sail but without the Nasty upsetting engine problems. POOR JOHAN, never gets a break. Love seeing more ofvyourvvery beautiful country!! FWCS ⛵️
What a shame with your engine failure. If I lived closer I would offer to come and work on it but its difficult to do from New Zealand. Love watching Vera learning to row. We used to put our girls in the dinghy and use a long rope (when at anchor) so they could learn. Its a bit like riding a bike, once you know its easy. You live in a beautiful part of the world and I love yor tradition of painting your buildings red. It is very distinctive. Cheers and enjoy your last days of your break. Ian
Wow does Sweden look like such a great summer space to explore and live in, makes up for the long cold snowy winters. Love that berry picking, natures finest snack food! It's really great to see you get some boat/summer fun time, the boat build is awesome, but some R&R is needed to cope with all the works! Love the video work on this weeks episode, such beautiful scenes and composition, I feel relaxed and refreshed just watching!
I get the pain of potentially losing semester in Sweden. Good job to make the most of a bad situation and lapping up the beautiful east coast archipelago
Just love watching the seasonal changes from the farm and surrounding country🌹. It certainly is beautiful. Vera ❤adds a dimension to every episode and I miss her when she does not appear. Do you consider taking a friend for her on your travels. ?...I know it would be a lot of additional work for you but it would be nice to see her with a playmate !
I love your sailing vacation. Sorry it started off the way it did. Really happy it had the best ending. Sunny Hill Farm is beautiful. 🏡 Thanks for sharing.
I so can relate to engine trouble with old engines… had to get towed 3 nm into Simrishamn on our trip down the east coast , it was less serious then a seized piston , but still … frustrating with unreliable engines! Good thing you found a rental to save the vacation ❤❤
Wow. If I didn’t know that was Sweden I would have said it was the North channel in Georgian bay on the Great Lake in Canada. Beautiful sailing where you guys are.
So sorry that the piston froze in your old boat! But, you made the best of your time away from home in that rented sailboat. Except for you last day of rain near Mon, you seemed to have enjoyed some wonderful July weather (...okay, nobody likes the mosqitoes!) along the rocky shores of the Flisfjärden sound. With all of the work that you've already put into Ran III -- you needed a nice vacation. It was so nice for us to see how much Vera has grown; she will be a sailor soon -- who will also learn, one day, how to row a boat without going in circles. 😉🤟🏻
I’d almost forgotten how serene your sailing videos are. I like your style. And it’s good to see you’re taking a break from the boat build. Just like trimming sails, life needs balance too.
It's so sweet to see Vera turning into a proper little mermaid :D
Malin, I love how you film nature, finding beauty wherever you are.
Those wild blueberries!
Hearing Vera gently singing in the background while Malin talks on camera is so adorable, I cannot even handle it! 🥰💕🥹
We all deserve one
So nice to see the ‘RANN’ Family back where you belong, on the Ocean & sailing again!
All the best Richard ❤️👍🇬🇧
Well deserved break..

I really like the configuration of that boat - especially Vera's hideaway!
You turned lemons into a wonderful lemonade! You found a sweet and perfect boat for your adventures. God Bless!
You are so resourceful. Happy the three of you got the sailing holiday you wanted and deserved💗

I agree, not hard though - summer in Sweden is beautiful
Thank you so much! ☺️
Totally agree ❤
I am addicted to this series- so well done. Thank you for sharing your experiences in a most interesting way.
Great you found another boat to relax with! It is very important to not always be occupied building your new (awesome!! ) boat! Vera is growing up so fast too! All the best!
Good weekend off, you guys deserve it. Enjoy the build.
Always nice to get a summer sailing break in beautiful weather.

This episode 404 is really nice and definitely NOT an error. Cheers!
So nice to see you take a break. Hopefully the engine repair will be something easy

You work so hard long hours day after day it’s nice to see you get away for a few days
Vacations well deserved ❤
Hi, glad to see you having a fun time. Good time to consider not having your own boat for a while. Renting is often an easier option.
Cheers Peter.
Glad you got to enjoy your vacation after unlucky start. Nice weather beautiful scenery
Glad you were able to get a break. Great video.

Agree with you. Vera is so good at picking it up, sailing running in the blood. Brian (from NZ too)
glad your break turned out great.
Excellent travelogue. Great musical choices.
Delightful everyone needs a break including Vera!!!
We just had the same adventure. Our new vacation plans? Fix the engine, clean the boat!
Harstena och Mon, våra hemtrakter på sjön!😀
Hi , you and your family, have sailed so many miles , so breaking down in the river , no sweat . The videos are magic every time , best of good fortune to you all .😉👍💅💅
Sweden is so beautiful! So nice to see you are taking a break from all the boat work. Waving from Canada! ❤
we have up to 7m tides here in BC - swedish anchoring has always shocked me!
Wow. I think I have to go sailing in Sweden sometime! Such beautiful sailing grounds and landscape!

When the engine stopped, the first thing I thought of was did something wrap around the propeller of the shaft. Thank you for another enjoyable video.

I see why my Swedish great grandparents came to Minnesota and soon after had a lake cabin. It looks the same as the view out that cabin window.
Thank you for such a lovely video, very heartwarming to watch.
The shoreline of Sweden where you were reminds me SO much of sailing in Southern New England in Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Nice episode, it has the feel of summer!

Beautiful region!! Vera is very lucky, she's really coming into her own as a sailor. I wish I had grown up cruising and sailing.
The landscape is so much like Northern Ontario Canada . It’s called the Canadian Shield ! The rocks look identical . We go to the North Channel & Georgian Bay .
Ljuvligt, visade bilder från när våra döttrar var små och yngre dottern kom ihåg gula flytvästen med delfiner på. Samma som Vera har.
Aku menonton beberapa episode kalian tersenyum begitu manis keluarga yg sangat bahagia
Seemed like 2 min ago, your last meet and greet happen. How time flies. Poor start, but ended up being a great holiday. Thank you for sharing :)
Parabéns pela realização de um grande projeto, Deus os abençoe sempre. 🙏👍👍👍👍👍⛵️⛵️⛵️❤️
fun adventure in beautiful scenery
It's so nice to see you under sail again. We missed it as I'm sure you have too.
Really enjoyed the video, thank you so much.
You should tell everyone how much the “rescue” was… 😊 Svenska Sjöräddningen needs credit!😊
Lovely video!❤️ Thank you!

You all deserved a long soothing sail but without the Nasty upsetting engine problems. POOR JOHAN, never gets a break. Love seeing more ofvyourvvery beautiful country!! FWCS ⛵️
very enjoyable and relaxing
We in BC are sharing your 30 c temps as well. I very much enjoyed your 'refreshing' travels. Have a great week!
I must concur with the last comment. Very cinematic episode. Kudos on your choices and lighting and videography
The wee boat looks in fine fettle (apart from the little issue with the engine)! Glad you finally got away. The hire boat looks great as well
Beautiful video!
No wonder there was something unexpected. Look at the number of this episode 🤣 Cheers!
Haha! Didn’t catch that one at first. 😂
Living the dream.
Love to see you back on the water sailing in beautiful surroundings. That was a nice boat.
Vera,s life jacket is so cute .
Happy ending 🎉

Your relaxing video style is back once again including great music choices.
I get the pain of potentially losing semester in Sweden. Good job to make the most of a bad situation and lapping up the beautiful east coast archipelago
Very pretty country.
I love sailing up there! What a beautiful landscape.
I sure like your boat, bad motor and all
Sweden looks so much like Maine, from the mossy rocks to the rocky shore to the low-bush blueberries. One big difference: 3-4 meter tides!
What a great video , it's so good seeing you on the water again .
wonderful....everyone needs time out/holiday glad you got a boat and have achill time guys . happy sailing😎
Landscape like Georgian Bay in Canada.

What a great video today! Thank you so much for your family and mission.
Vera is growing up so fast 😊
JIM ❤
Both of the adults looked much younger (again) after just a few days of R&R.
I so can relate to engine trouble with old engines… had to get towed 3 nm into Simrishamn on our trip down the east coast , it was less serious then a seized piston , but still … frustrating with unreliable engines! Good thing you found a rental to save the vacation ❤❤

I just loved this video. It was wonderful seeing your whole family together!
Sun & Salt water, nice little family break , unfortunate about the engine, an expense you probably didn’t need 😎
Its so nice to have a have a well deserved break
A great recovery for a bad start, enjoy your well earned Vacation
That's the area that I grew up in and first sailed in. Got such good memories. Thanks.
Vera, looks so big and beautiful. God bless you guys.

Nice little interlude.
