This rebrand has made me go onto second-hand sites and buy retired bags and retired patterns that I've missed out on initially. But it is interesting mentioning Coach- because many people say they drove their brand into the toilet when they opened the factory outlet stores and moved towards embossed and away from the classic leather. I dunno? I haven't kept up w Coach- but thats a me vs other ppl issue. I really do enjoy the quilted looking tote- but there are a few things that make me say hmmm I dunno for that pricing. I do wish they had zipper closures. I also like the butterfly pattern and the paisley vibe one thats maybe brown or purple? We shall see. I also havent enjoyed the last few vera releases and was shopping the outlet exclusively for my new products. I think I'm just gonna miss the bright patterns because I work in a somber field and on some days when ppl die or get bad news- those patterns are the only thing bringing me joy at work or whatever.
I am so happy to see you! And your great commentary! You are sooo right! Vera had to do this, or they won’t survive! Period! I wrote this in a comment on Instagram and was viciously attacked by many. People are absolutely obnoxious and ridiculous regarding this rebrand. They still have patterns, they’re just elevated now! Beautiful collections, I love it! Vera has closed so many stores, managers telling me they’re on borrowed time. If everything was going well and what the majority wanted, they wouldn’t have to do this, so many just don’t understand this fact! The majority is unhappy, that’s why they had to evolve and change! I’m loving this new rebrand and hoping they’re here for a long time! Have a wonderful evening. 😊
Thank you for doing this video. I have been curious to see your take on the rebrand. I went to the Paper Store to see the collection in person, and the Cotton Gabardine is SO much softer than the recycled cotton. I will say the items look much better in person than online and they feel really nice. I just wish VB gave coupons or had an introductory sale - rather than pay a celebrity to hawk the bags it would be great to get reviews from real people. I agree they needed a rebrand and you addressed that well. It was great seeing you and Pixie again! Stay cool and hydrated.
@@jcarey411 I agree about the introductory sale. I’m wondering if maybe, again, that seemed a little too similar to pre-rebranding strategies, so they stayed away from doing that. It’s great that you could see things in person and good to hear positive things about the new stuff. I really wish I had a store here that I could go to, even an independent retailer. I’d have to go out to Long Island or over into Jersey to do that. Hope you’re staying cool!💕
Thank you for your commentary on the rebrand. I hard disagree on the interior pockets issue. The thing about pouches, is they take up more space than interior pockets and they weigh more. I have a number of totes from other brands that are prettier, but VB has been the most practical and that is what I most appreciate about the brand. So even though I think the rebrand is stylish, I'm not going to buy any more of the bags unless they add the interior pockets back. I still use pouches, but they are not interchangeable with interior pockets.
Yay! You're back 💥 Always nice to spend time with you 😉 Thanks for taking time to share your thoughts. I didn't even know it was a "rebrand"; just saw it as a new "roll-out" product kinda thing. As usual, there are some I like (embossed leather - yummy) and some not so much. But in general, I'm trying only to buy if I really truly LOVE it. I have too many collections now. Oh and the upgraded fabrics are a plus. P.S. I seriously thought that ambulance was coming down my street!!
Thank you for this; I really appreciate your perspective as it's helped me chill out a little. :) I personally LOVE that it's tilting a little more upscale (good points about the cotton gabardine and diamond vs square pattern) I'm also looking forward to more Disney prints in the future. Feeling cautiously optimistic!!
Thank you for your insights! I have calmed down a bit from my initial thoughts and ordered an item today! I’m looking forward to your reviews when you get some pieces. Yes, change is hard but necessary 😊
Excellent rambling! I always enjoy your insights from your background like the advertising tidbits. I am one that was ready for the change. In my opinion it was long overdue and I hope they are successful.
To modernize a brand, that has to happen now and again. So new type of fabric, new silhouettes and new patterns, that's ok. So I agree with you in all this. 👍 But I think it's unwise to have straps that are too short for many customers, I mean, adjustable straps that also can go on someone who is tall or pluss sized, it takes so little extra fabric... A longer ADJUSTABLE strap doesn't ruin the bag for the model thin ladies, but a strap that's too short does stop those who need the longer straps from buying...
I totally agree with you about no zippers on the totes. I won't be buying them. It's too bad because I'm a small Vera tote girl. I will move on to a find a new company.
Hi Alisa I’m so glad to see you. I have missed seeing your videos. Thank you so much for your opinion and comments about the Vera rebrand, I have looked at the website, but the prices are out of my budget for some items. I will look again at the pouches and accessories. I did see a zip key pouch it looks similar to the zip ID. I’m glad you explained about the different fabrics. Your video is very informative and educational, thank you. I hope you and your dad are doing well. Thank you so much for sharing this video and we should talk soon. 😊🛍️👜💕🌸🌷🌹🪴👛
@@debrahsimmons7544 definitely, let’s chat soon! We’re hanging in there up here in the heat. How are you doing by you? Hope you are feeling well and doing OK 💕
I appreciate your balance approach to this. I calmed down from the uproar and purchased from the VB site today. I got the Knollton Travel Tote and a Miramar Weekender in Colorful Bouquet & a Zip Card Pouch in Koi Orange with a 10% discount. One day I hope to get a Foxbury Crossbody but I will wait for a good sale.
😂LOL… Traumatic! Loved this video and thank you for your honest opinion. You did have me laughing…. I do feel for those who are hard core VB fans. Can’t wait to see what you decide to purchase. I’ve always loved your VB collection. I have a small one compared to yours and I’m keeping what I have. 😂
Hello, Fabulous! Thank you so much for this video- I don’t have strong feelings in any direction on this topic, but I also agree with so much of what you said. Only problem for me is I was about to start showcasing a ton of VB on my YT, and now that seems (possibly) in poor taste…definitely poor timing on my part. All this to say, I also panicked and ordered a bag in French Hens (with the baby poop color background- I think that is how you described it on one of your videos- I can’t disagree 😂) and Cat’s Meow. Again, I appreciate the logical, and thoughtful, rundown of the VB rebranding. Well done! ❤️ (Oh, you are correct- I am in California- not a single shop anywhere that carries VB- not for years.)
Great points! I was initially shocked, but after spending some time really looking, it’s not so bad. I was upset though that their bedding is gone. I love their quilts and they held up so well over time. Maybe they will throw us a limited edition bag like did with Persistence Patchwork or Spooky Cats once in a while we can all go crazy over 😂
I'm delighted to see you. Watching your videos has always reminded me of spending time with my favorite cousin when we were growing up as kids. We didn't see each other very often, but had so much fun being creative and silly and rambling on and on together. It was like we had our own secret language in the way we reacted to the world, and I swear you speak that same language lol. Watching your videos a few years ago directly led me to binge collect a ton of Vera, when I had never owned any before. Lockdown craziness was probably another factor, tbh. Lots of my collection has never been used, mostly because I don't enjoy changing out bags. I thought having many designs and patterns would inspire me in that regard, but it didn't. Instead, I am slowly wearing down the pieces I do use. While I love them I sometimes feel foolish for owning all the rest. At least I will never run out of spares of the styles I use most... esp large totes, duffels, notebooks... and there's depth on the bench in other items too 😅 Well, until today I had no idea Vera was rebranding. Then I watched this video. I successfully ended my binge buying of Vera shortly after recycled cotton took over. I only ever bought one piece of the recycled, a solid-color backpack as a gift for my son's girlfriend who is young and environmentally conscientious. She is about 30 and had never had a Vera anything, but she loved that backpack and used it so hard she bought herself a replacement in a different solid color a few months ago. So there's one more buyer in a newer generation that your videos have incidentally created. I agree with you that the Vera brand is doing what it needs to do to survive. Now I fear I may be activating my old Vera problem anew. Oh no! Because your video is not very short, ha ha, I had plenty of time to peruse the current Vera website while listening to you talk. To my dismay, I see a half dozen things I wouldn't mind trying. This is all, all your fault! 😂 I'm trying hard to hold out by writing this long-winded comment instead of shopping. But I am rambling, so gotta go. I'll try to stay strong but not sure I will. I think I need that hard jewelry case in green leather, for starters. Meanwhile, I am wishing you all the best.
I do love Vera Bradley and was so excited to go to their outlet sale one year. I went years without buying any though. I agree the tote was my main bag and having it in different prints got old. I visited an outlet 2 years ago and bought a small travel bag. I still love it but my biggest issue with all Vera is it’s hard to clean and the other fabric was a bit rough feeling. I switched to Le sport sac and it was lighter and easier to keep clean. I’ll have to check recheck VB out.
It’s great to see you again! I hope you and your dad are doing well, despite the heat. It’s hot as heck here in TX, too. I never get used to the heat, I’m just not built for it! 🥵 I was hoping that you would chime in on the recent events. My initial reaction the first time I scrolled through the updated Vera website was “God, I hate change.” My feeling now is that I want the company to survive, even if that entails a complete rebrand. I hope to get inside a VB store soon so I can see how I feel about the new items in person. Several colors and patterns look appealing online, and I’m sure I will continue purchasing a few items each season (not that I need them or have space for them, haha). I hope they will continue to collaborate with Disney, Peanuts, and Harry Potter on occasion, and also add in some Halloween-themed items, but I am doubtful that they will. 🤞🏻
If you really love a bag and the crossbody straps are too short you could use a longer strap you already own. I’m not planning a purchase in the rebrand as I don’t see anything I love or that I love more than what I have. Focusing on what I have and how the sale of former inventory will go. I’m afraid it will go crazy like Cats Meow. I’ll watch along with what happens. Never say never. It’s been a pretty big jolt in Veraland. I’ve been wondering your thoughts. Smart to sit back and think a bit. Agree they needed to do something. I’d love to retain a classic line though.
I dont hate the rebrand. Some of the patterns I love actually. They are very retro reminds me of the 70s. Some of the bag styles are cute however I agree that the strap drops are not good. one of the things I have always loved about Vera is that the strap drop was amazing. I love my shoulder bags and totes to have atleast a 10 inch drop and the crossbody straps need to pretty long as well because I am on the fluffy side. I completely understand why Vera had to do this. In this day and age and economy they have to be competitive with other brands. And here lately I have heard many women saying that Vera Bradley is to much like bags and patterns that grandmas carry. One thing I do not like is the price point of the new bags. I understand they are going to be using nicer materials but the prices have now made Vera out of my budget. There is a bag that I would consider buying but will have to wait for possible sale. I dont understand this trend with women carrying these mini bags. To me if you can't even fit your phone in it or your wallet, what is the point in carrying that purse. Anyway. Thanks for the video. Great seeing you again.
I am so glad I have bins and bins of vintage and recent Vera --much of it still new with tags--as I am not real keen about what I have seen with the rebrand items online. Disappointing!
Gosh I kept getting on site to order and wondered where all the items were. I hate all this new stuff. I was always ordering their products. Very disappointed.
