Hi bro is it okay to keep 2 gold fish inside tank in which I fixed a submersible filter (No idea what is the amount of water it actually contains but it is 9×8×18 Please help
Hey Chris, thanks for reviewing my tank. I do a load more maintenance now, the water is clear and there is no agression between fish. Just to let you know. Love the videos.
The goldfish tank almost empty is sadly familiar to me. I was one of those people. I would get annoyed having to change water so often that I left it looking that that sometimes. Until I found you and aquarium co-op. Boy I learned a lot. My two goldies went from a 10 gallon to a 55. So much happier in it and I've found it learned to enjoy when changing water now.
My parents: "I thought you liked fish, why are you buying plants?" Me, trying to build a nice scape: "Uh, fish... do as much as plants, so it's only natural!"
Seeing today's FTR was bittersweet, last night my beloved betta , Geralt passed away due to complications with aggressive and fast moving cancer and complications with sudden onset swim bladder... I would always sit and watch FTR with him whole observing him and so not having my little friend to watch this one with is very sad, but I continue to watch, always, in hopes of learning something that will make his successors life better
Update, my new betta and I are still learning eachother, hes a beautiful crown tail and hes very large, not quite giant but probably somewhere in his genes his name is bong water, in honor of the awful water he came in, but also my roomates named him so; I still miss my boy every day, and I wish I was able to do more for him, but I know hes not in pain anymore so, for that I am glad
Taking notes cause I'm putting together my first tank right now, in the past week I've watched most of the ftrs on this channel to get an idea of what to avoid and what's good. I'm not confident enough to do fully planted but I'll do my best to make a tank that my fish can be happy in once I've got it cycled
I recommend KG tropicals for good information for beginners and MD fishtanks for aquascape inspo. ftrs can be a bit intimidating for beginners (sorry Chris) especially when knowing algea blooms are going to happen in a new setup and now you're being thrown under the bus for 'faulty maintenance' when that's not necessarily the case.
For the longest time, my mom had put our fish tank (I think a full 50 gallon tank???) on nothing more than a flimsy table with a glass top. Bumping into it alone was risky. Luckily we recently bought a strong stand for it.
You're slowly but surely making me interested on fish. Not to the point I'd keep any, but I'm definitely fascinated by the process of making an enclosure.
I am very lucky, the biggest pet store in my general area is only 10 minutes away from me but in the back room they have a display tank with two giant gorami and a full grown parrot fish. I also never see hardly any dead fish in the tanks. Personal Touch the fish super store
Definitely know what you mean with the new shipments, when I worked at petco if the person ordering ordered say guppies from the wrong supplier they would die off 2 an hr until all 24 are dead, can be hard for the employees to make sure there's no dead in the tank if they're constantly dying
I have that exact kind of TV tray and they are really strong but I would never trust them that much. I do have two huge bottles of laundry detergent on one but I would never trust it with a Critters life.
I love your videos and have learned a lot from watching them. After a tragedy starting out I learned the water where I live is EXTREMELY hard and needed to learn a lot. I now have 3 Dal Mollies I got as fry and have had for 2 months. It has been fun watching them grow and I hope to do a better job for them and any fish I get in the future. Keep up the great work.
Yha. I caught my toddler watching that the other day. His videos are on the kids RUclips app. I was horrified and sent a very long worded email to RUclips kids.
I love my LFS and their display tanks. It's a smaller store, and seems like every employee has their own display somewhere in the store. They're all unique and you can tell the employees are proud of them. Very wholesome ❤
One of my sister's guppies died this night. Like he was alive earlier. We noticed that he's acting a bit odd and we worry about him. Don't know what could be wrong though, this morning he's acting fine and normal again but then passed away. The tank doesn't smell like ammonia or anything and has been cleaned 2 weeks ago. But just to be sure, we are taking a water sample to a shop that actually care for fish to see the quality of it and hope that it didn't affect the other fish. One thing I will say is that it only has one natural plant because we don't know how to maintain and keep the plants clean and the fact that they are expensive.
3 years ago i had gold fish in a 10 gallon but last year i put them in 40 gallon the only reason i even thought about it is because of you so thank you 😊
That tank on the folding tv dinner table is for sure photoshopped. I know for a fact because I've set an empty 55 gallon on one just to move some stuff out of my way. Long story short the table broke luckily the tank fell backwards and onto my couch.
I always wonder how you get Repashy to just- sit there. My cresite always trys to ✨escape✨ the moment I take him out :'D (Not in a stressed or panicked way, he just refuses to stay put lol)
My mom was a commercial fisher, supplier, person she fished for 33 years, and she would get turbo snails, anemones, and stuff like that. Not actual fish, but when she sold her snails to her customers, we would buy a Betta fish or a goldfish or something for little kid me. And the tanks in the place we're not overstocked, EVER, and if they were overstocked, there was never a dead fish, and the tanks were clean. So at least my mom knew who to stock to
I was talking with a coworker the other day because she mentioned wanting to get a 20 gal tank and I immediately went: 👀 a fellow fishkeeper?! But now I have some concerns because she said she currently has an angelfish and albino pleco in a 10 gal and wants to upgrade to give them more room. I'm glad she wants to upgrade, but won't they need more than that? I'm not familiar at all with angelfish, but they appear to get pretty large and I didn't want her to be under a false impression of them just growing to fit the tank. I mentioned that to her and used goldfish as an example but while she agreed that growing to the size of the tank is a misconception with goldfish, she said she's owned angelfish before and they were different. Really? Are they really? Is there a species difference that makes them so? I have my doubts. I did also mention the dollar per gallon sales that petsmart has just in case and suggested she might go bigger anyway. Don't know if she will or not though....
Our local Petco uses their display tank to put larger fish surrendered for adoption. Turns out alot of people bring in older goldfish either because they outgrew their tank or occasionally when an elderly person goes into a retirement home. They tend to take the fish rather than let someone 'dispose' of them some other way. Lesser of two evils, I guess. They do find them appropriate homes.
