@@MarxasThomas Not sure about that. Kaneko's designs have this statuesque, almost otherworldly quality to them. Which is great for a lot of SMT games, but not so much the more lighthearted newer Persona games. I have a hard time imagening the average Kaneko character hanging out witth buddies at the ramen shop.
recently I was grinding to beat demi-fiend boss, and good god after beating him I am taking a good break from SMT. Over 300 hours spent grinding just to beat him, I hate myself.

This is awesome, DDS was my first non persona megaten game and has remained my favorite (with Devil Survivor: Overclocked being crazy close). I really love the characters, concept and the story, atmosphere, hell even the mantra system and transformation. I love this game to death and am so happy to see you cover it
great as always, I like how you blend comedy, simple information and critique. I agree that the game is way to grind heavy, especially the first time around... and some of the dungeons...man the sewer and the karma tower give me nightmares. I reallly liked the bit in the beginning, where you kinda build the mood of the game when you described the beginning scene, that was really neat. Maybe you wanna experiment with that some time again? I think it might fit some videos pretty nicely^^
Hey man, that half hour just breezed by. It was a great video man. You touched on a lot of the stuffs that made it great and even touched on the things that could be considered nonsense. But I think overall these mechanics did this title justice that really makes it stand out on its own legs

It's kind of a general rule if your not doing something vicariously through a digital means of operation In the story. like using terminals or enter the Internet etc etc. It's safe this assume that the digital part is for a twist of your in the computer.
I’ve been wanting to try digital devil saga for some time now but I was never able to fully commit to it. I think I’ll pick it up after this video! Great review, very funny.

Y'know, it's funny. I know I generally have contrarian opinions when it comes to MegaTen like not really loving Nocturne or thinking P4 is one of the weaker entries, but I honestly didn't think preferring DDS1 to 2 was that hot a take. Apparently I was wrong XD

You don’t have to grind in any SMT game because I have played them all and I hate grinding. You choose to grind to make it easier. That being said I never killed Demi fiend which I’m sure you’d have to grind to kill.
“Have to grind” is a severe understatement as it took me about 50 hours of grinding the stat items to get the perfect stat builds for my team. It also takes an insane amount of luck as Demifiend’s moveset has some attacks that can one shot you.
Honestly, demi fiend is more a battle of luck than anything else. That said, you better have max hp and mp or you're gonna get annihilated by him just punching you lol

Persona 3 and 4 both actually had the smt title above their names in the west but not japan. So yeah its probably to build brand awareness

I mean the first Megaten game is called Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei, so the title isn't necessarily suggesting the ending

My humble advise, play it via emulation. Map F4 (frameskiping button) to your joystick and use it when you are grinding.

Pretty good, actually. Lots of little differences though. Serph not being a silent protagonist, for starters.
