- Is 2022 Ford Puma ST Line V Worth the Money: full review
Ford Puma isn’t cheap so does it rate the bucks?
Full Review: gaycarboys.com...
There was a lot of too-ing and fro-ing as to whether Puma would make it to Australia. It did, and isn’t it a little sweetie? The 3-model range of Puma, ST Line and ST Line V is fairly well equipped.
It’s all cutsie-pie on the outside with an adorable little face, and a pert rump. They’ve followed this modern trend of turning a baby hatch into a baby SUV by pumping it up on steroids. Ford has all but abandoned the little-lamented passenger car market, and joins many other car makers in having a mainly-SUV stable. The only passenger cars left are the performance versions: Focus ST, Fiesta ST, and Mustang.
Puma follows Fiesta’s lilliputian proportions: 4,186-4,207 mm L x 1,805 mm W x 1,548-1,552 mm H, albeit a little taller. The 2588mm wheelbase isn’t going to make it a family machine but there is more than enough space for a trendy couple wanting something a bit different.
The on-road price of $39,891 (NSW) doesn’t include our options of Sunroof $2,000, Grey Matter paint with black roof $1,150, and Park Pack $900. This takes the final DRIVE AWAY price $44,157 in New South Wales.
The Exterior:
“Fixed Signature LED Headlamps” have an odd ovoid shape reminiscent of Fords of the 90’s. LED DTRLs carve a couple of lines through the array, but don’t instantly say, “Hi, make way. Ford coming through.”
Similarly, the tail lights have a complex shape. The low volume SUV has a certain mystique owning to its relative rarity. Ford shifted 137 units for the first 2 months of 2022 verses 441 for the same time last year. That’s a shame because it deserves more.
Overall, the gym-fit Puma is cute, cheeky, and is best considered a high-riding hatch rather than an SUV in the true sense.

Just bought the same one it feels really nice I will see on a 400km trip on saturday thank you for great review very smooth gear change nice and sporty paddle control too in manual mode cheers Harry
Fantastic video. I'm based in the UK and I just placed my order for a Solar Silver Vignale model two days ago, cannot wait to get this car and play with it.
SOOO smooth too:) let us know how it goes
You explained the puma really well, thanks, great video! Well done! I used to own the coupe version an absolutely loved it, I’m loving this new model too,
many thanks:) we liked it
What a super video. Very informative, entertaining, and honest.
Great video and love your reviews. Can’t wait for my new Puma. With the world shortage of semi-Conductor parts and coming out of COVID. I’ve been waiting almost nine months for my factory build white ST-line X (155bhp) with full LED headlights, the driver assistance pack and panoramic roof. But hope to have it in next month or two.
it has been a bad time to buy a car. hopefully we are coming to the end of the shortage but the backlogs will take a long time to clear. Be sure to let us know how it goes when you finally get it
@@gaycarboys will do 👍🏼
The Puma sounds like a really good car and a great alternative to many of the other dull SUVs blighting our roads. Ford has a gift with making things nice to drive. I would like to have heard you say whether the DCT issues have been resolved or not.
the issues were with dry sump models, which all of the smaller cars seem to have. I haven't heard of any recent problems but can't say if they're actually resolved or not.
Great review. Finally getting my black vignale in two weeks after ordering it back in December. Subscribed.
great value too
Top review; I was interested as one of our cars is a VW T Cross R-Line which has a very similar spec. The Ford has a better interior finish and the VW has slightly more torque. No sunroof on the VW. Not much between them but, as a class of car they are all most people need. Great around town and excellent for long road trips. A great little Ford all rounder.
as a runaround, they're great. you're right about interior finish though both ford and vw have lots of scratchy plastic
Great laid back review showing the vehicle in practical everyday running
yeah the rain was a bit of an event
Such a relaxing review
cheers, I think:)
@@gaycarboys I'm actually planning to go to Ford on the weekend because of your review.
make sure you take it for a decent drive too. don't let them talk you in to a spin around the block.
Fantastic review the best I have seen on the Ford Puma, you explain things well 😀
thanks so much. make sure you share it!
Thanks so much 🙏, I’m thinking of getting this car and you’ve really helped me understand it’s good and bad points! More good than bad for sure, I like it a lot
I think it is much under-rated. pricey, but you get what you pay for! Glad we could help
@@gaycarboys thanks, I enjoyed your review 🙂
All those hours spent teaching my daughters to reverse park and then they bring out this.
But then you won’t be able to use this clever system to pass your test so time not wasted after all.
If Ford wonders why they don’t sell more of this natty little car they need just to look at the price. Shock!
it is packed full of kit, but for that price i'd ant more power
Is this standard on the new models ? I read it’s an optional extra like the hands free tailgate ??
Is what standard? We tested the EPIQ, which is all standard as shown. FYI the smart tailgate was already standard on the 2022 Australian models, all of them. Features may vary in different markets.
Sorry the hands free parking.
Hi if you can Do a review on any model of a Ferrari I would really appreciate it because I love your videos and Ferraris
sadly Ferrari have not responded to our requests for press cars but will certainly try again
Thanks a lot for telling me I really appreciate it I’m excited to see what car do you do in the future❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎👍🏻
A Polestar2 next week:)
I really like polestar because they are amazing and I like Electric cars
Very good review of this car. Did it come with those dash cameras or you put them there on your own?
Only one is a dashcam, the others are GoPros used to record the review:)
Looks a decent traffic car, good for shopping, a bit light on power for distance cruising I suspect. I wonder why they haven’t brought in an electric version? A bit too swoopy in shape for my liking, cute maybe but the external design doesn’t appeal to me very much. It does appear sensibly and well designed internally. Sure is wet there! I think Ford are asking a bit too many $ for this car.
there might be a mild hybrid coming, so there's that. Nice to drive but i think it will appeal. I think its price is the main reason they sell so few of them. i didn't ask, but i assume supply issues are a problem too, like it is for everyone else
Yes, supplies of new cars are slowed at present. Like most cars now the Puma appears very capable. Just not right for where I live I’m afraid.
Good review 👍
many thanks, you can always feel free to share;)
What happened to the spare tyre and can you run it on 91ron
well you may ask
According to spec sheet all models have a space saver spare, you can see this @2:43 , the outline of the space saver is visible on the floor cover. meanwhile according to CarExpert, "The Puma does require 95RON fuel, which is fairly typical of today’s small-capacity turbocharged engines." So no to 91RON.
Davvero bravo
Such a cute man
he'll be happy to hear it
Tell him he can have me
