All my pets were my favorite,. But right now my most important animal is gwen my horse. I am 72 yrs old , she keeps me moving , without her i would just sit in my chair . I saved her life when she was impailed by a tpost . Now she is saving me , by keeping me moving.thank God for all my pets ❤❤❤❤😊😊 blessed to have Gwen .
Like "Past tees" ? I've never heard of them before but we will be trying them tonight !! Lol... I'm gonna use hand cut potatoes though 😊 They look delicious !!
Guys, just a note. You should never put hot filling into pastry. You have to let it cool down before you stuff the pie or the butter melts in the pastry and they will fall apart.
I am so glad. Your making pasties my grandma made the best. All home made pasties at was like a roast in a pie yum 😋 !! The farther north you go you'll have more pastie shops especially in the UP of Michigan ❤️
My favorite pet was my little 5lb Yorkie. I got Hershey Smores as a puppy and loved her for almost 15 years. She was bossy and loved to be in everyones business. I was her favorite. She took her peaceful last breath in my arms. Mine were the last eyes she saw as she passed to the other side. Its been 2 years and not a day goes by I don't think of her. 😇😢💔👼
Michigan was born and raised! Barefoot in the lake, river, pond, or any other body of water!! There are 34 lakes just in my small town of just 35 miles big! Up north in the summers and ice shanty in the winter! Hunting, fishing, and veggie farming and driving old dirt roads to the cider mill!! Love my Mittin State!!! And watching what's up on Morror hill!! Thanks for the video Dan and Lou!!!
Same here nothing like the GREAT LAKE STATE fresh water and fun. It was funny when I left at 18 to live in Los Angeles with my dad's family and they thought I never saw a beach before. I loved the ocean but nothing compares to lake Michigan and I've lived in 10 different states and that's what I miss most about the mitten state. 😊❤🎉
You two are great! I wouldn't have been able to pronounce half of those dishes of Michigan either. But I do know Pasty from my Grandmother. Its pronounced Pass-tee.
Hi from Detroit, MI....Carrots and Rutabagas are also used in Pasties (said: Pass - tee). We use gravy with them. Shawarma is said: Sha - warm - a Gyro is said: You're - O Paczki is said: Punch-kee Not being critical...just helping.. LOL... I know it can be hard..lol Great food and history up here. Come visit and see our beautiful lakes!
Pasties were used by miners in the British Isles for meals during the 1900’s etc. They could be made with lard and contain turnips at times. Today they are made throughout the world and are a favourite especially in England where you can find shops that are dedicated to just pasties. Love the back and forth with the two of you and don’t ever stop.
Hi Dan and Lou, when I lived in northern Minnesota I learned to make venison pasties (pronounced “paaasties”, because “paysties” are nipple covers used by strippers. I would just cube my meat, carrots, potatoes and onions and bake in a pie crust folded over like a half moon and edges sealed with fork tines. It’s easier to assemble if ingredients are cold. Love Brynleighs hair cut.
My favorite pet was my silver poodle, Percy. I taught him to give hugs. If I was upset, he would climb into my lap and lay his head on my shoulder.❤❤ ❤
I laughed from start to finish w a little t that's what she said moments great video & family time happy belated birthday 🎂 thanks for sharing your time & family stay safe 🙏🐾🐈⬛🐐
Yay!!! Michigan, I grew up going to Caseville, MI every summer of mylife❤ my Grandmother lived there all my cousins aunts and cousins etc. My Mom was born there in Detroit. It’s a very beautiful state. The Great Lakes are a sight to behold, ESPECIALLY Lake Superior. I swam in Lake Huron yearly. I hold a very special place in my heart for Michigan. Levi is so darned cute❤
We make and sell pasties at my church. The mix was made of raw meat, potato, onion and rutabaga. (I think the meat juice cooks it all and keeps crust moist) We also sold gravy to go with them. Ppl freeze them for an easy meal later. Fun video, stay blessed!!
I have two favorites. One was my dog Lonesome. He showed up in our garage on Christmas night. As an adult my favorite was Petey. An orange cat. He was very handsome. And the most loving animal I’ve ever seen. Now I’m crying.
I'm ANITA: Dan and Lou: I'm loving your cooking episodes with the family telling their stories. Those meat pasty puts me in mind of friend apple pies. I'm going to let you know what my favorite pet is: She was a yellow Lab. Mello moved to my house from across the street, she carried one ball at a time. I called Greg and told him she was here. Greg said; "She's Happy There so let her stay". He know I loved her and he knew I took Great Care of my little dog. Mellow was the sweetest dog and she chose me, we had to put her down at 11 yrs. old she had anal gland cancer and a Huge tumor formed on her rectum on outside. It was time when she started bleed for a wk. she still ate and played fetch outside but that sat. morning she could hardly walk and her breathing was shallow. I'm saying that to say this: She moved here at 3yrs. old and stayed here till she passed away at 11:00. I gave her her best life and she brought so much joy to mine. She thought she was a little dog and wanted to lay by my feet wherever; I stood. I luv Your Family so Much Dan, you, Lou and EveryOne! Put me in so much mind of my own and the family gatherings are so Much Fun. So Much Luv between You Each. Next Cooking show do one on what Paw Paw and Gigi did that made you each the maddest when you were young? Ruffle Paw Paw's feathers a little bit. Luv Paw Paw and Gigi. Don't hurt Gigi's feelings though make it something more funny for Gigi. Buster is her Favorite and that Made me so happy! I know she was heart broke over him not being a tea cup size but look at the joy he brings her and that touches my heart. Luv and Prayers From Tenn. God Bless Y'all and God Bless All the Animals This is the longest comment I've ever left. Thank you for letting me. Mellow has only been gone a month and it helped my heart to share.
Hi Dan & Lou! It was a slow saunter to the counter by Dan. 👍🤣😂👏😊 Dan is feeling pretty "frisky" today. Watch out Lou! 😂🤣 Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍🇨🇦😊 You could make a Shepherd's Pie out of the leftovers. Make some mashed potatoes. Put the filling in a bottom of a baking dish, top with mashed potatoes...Spread some melted butter across the top of the mashed potatoes. Bake in the oven until heated through, & the top is slightly golden, & make a gravy....& Voila...you have a casserole and make a salad 🥗 to go with it & some Garlic Toast. 👍😊👏 Happy Birthday to Kaden! 👍🎂🎁🎊🎉🥳😊 I love the out of tune Birthday Song. 🎵🎶👏😊
Hello Uncle Dan & LouLou, Dinner looks delicious. 😋 I eat something like that in Fla, but here we call them Beef patties 🤷♀️ 🎊🎈🎉Happy 15th Birthday Cayden🎉🎈🎊 I love your family dinners, thank you for sharing your family with us! 💖❤️💝
Hi Daniel. My favorite pet was my Arabian horse, Royal mist. He was like a brother and I had him for 32 years. I’ve been quiet but love your cooking videos. It gives me relax and learning time on my breaks at work and I’ve cooked many of your meals at home. It’s just me so I try to cut the recipes down to a single serving. I love you both ❤️
I love meat pies. They look really good, maybe a little to brown but i bet they were good.i enjoyed hearing all the pet stories. Elora is shy , I think you scared her when you were telling her to get loud. Poor little Elora.😊. She does need to get louder but she will learn with time. 😅 . Have a great day. B Grace has the cutest hair cute for summer. ❤❤❤
Hi guys those pasties and fry’s looked delicious , great job !! It was neat hearing everyone’s stories about their favorite pets , I was surprised to hear Gigi say her favorite pet was/is Buster since she didn’t like him when his legs started growing longer and he got bigger than the “ tea cup “ he was suppose to be and now he loves being pawpaws farm dog with Woody snd Kippy those 3 dogs love riding with pawpaw and playing all day together and pawpaw loves them , but they will never take Heidi’s place his heart he still grieves for her !! I hope little Verdi stays small and is just what Gigi wanted, she sure is a cutie pie ! Thanks guys I love all y’all’s videos !! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻🌈🌈
I do something similar to the meat pies, although I roll out biscuits and fill, usually add taco seasoning to meat mixture. My kids call them stuffed tacos. Favorite pet... I would have to say my three hybrid wolf dogs, ( all rescues). Although not recommended for pets. The three I raised were well mannered, great protectors, and good with kids. They have all gone across the rainbow bridge. My emotional support pup is another of my favorites he has gotten me through some very rough days. Much love to all on and off the Hill. Stay blessed.
I was born and Raised in Detroit MI... Love you guys. I'm apart of the motor city car building 🏢 industry... Motor City... Motown.... Now I live right outside of Detroit. Great job 👏🏼❤ AND TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY 🎈🥳🎂
Pasties are well known up here in my neck of the woods, good job on those. I’m really enjoying the stories y’all are sharing. Sometimes it’s the little things we don’t often think about, that’s neat to hear or reminisce on.❤
I can’t imagine Elora being loud, but I’ll bet she owns it eventually❣️ Some of the animal stories I’ve heard before, so I know they’re true! All of my former pets were my favorite❣️ I’ve had many … growing up, my sister has said what Gi says to Pop about leaving her pets alone so they’d like her more 🤭 Those pasties looked yummy - I could make a meal on those! Thanks for the visit guys!! (I could hear Jake in the background trying to finagle Baby from PawPaw! Nice try, Jake - ain’t gonna happen! (She’s a sweetheart!)
Good morning Dan Lou like always I love your videos. I’m in Michigan I haven’t tried half that food that you named off Dan but I’m sure it’s gonna be good when y’all put it together lol
Learned alot about Michigan today! The greek foods you mentioned (and I didn't know were also Arab foods) are: Gyros = YEER- ohs (with a rolled "r") and Spanakopita = Span-uh-Koh-pih-tuh. Love to make spanakopita and baklava! Loved Elora's cheer and really loved Dan's cheering! lol You can tell he is a proud #GirlDad and #GirlGranddad. Enjoyed the pet stories. I really enjoy your themed sharing at the end of your meals! Happy Birthday, Caden!
Wow!!!! I tell you what the intro was hot....Great chemistry between ya'll two....Whew!!!! I went to Mackinac Island Michigan in '92 was so beautiful with snow on the ground and the Island (water) iced over....Happy 15th Birthday, Cayden!!!! I love Laramie's tank top....
@@daniel_morrow_outdoorsthis was by far the best episode with the family stories and your reading about my birth state of Michigan. I was wondering what that book of yours would say about MOTOWN and the multi-ethnic and cross cultural elements brought by the GREAT NORTHERN MIGRATION of Black Americans from the south. I almost suggested you guys do grit's, cornbread, ribs, and collard greens but didn't think you'd believe me it being a Michigan dish 😂. I wish you continued talking about the REUBEN SANDWICH cuz nobody can make them like the old Jewish deli owners. Still today my favorite sandwich 🥪🥒 like your dad's bologna 😁. Thanks for this episode it was truly on point 🎉❤😊
My beautiful Michigan. Motown and Auto Industry yes. Northern Michigan caters to the pasties. They are quite popular and were made for miners and bridge workers because they were very hearty. The ingredients are quite different then you used and the actual pie crust is rolled thick. Love Pastie❣❣
I was born in Detroit, Michigan…..my Dad, along with friends and family, were among those migrating to the north from the south for work. We came home to NW Alabama when I was about 5 yr old. Supper looks good tonight! Love the pet stories!
Love your show, you guys are so funny.Minnesota is my home state ,wild rice casserole and anything wildrice is a staple here, since we are the home of over 10,000 lakes there is alot of wild rice harvested here. And wild rice casserole is soooo good.I look forward to watching your show everyweek.
My favorite pet was a cat named Shadow. One day there was a solid black cat outside, next day he was still there. My then husband opened the door and said " you can in if you want " so he did. He jumped in my lap and never left. I had him for nearly 18 years. He waited till i got home and told him if he needed to go, he could. He died in my arms 😢 i still miss him.
I'm ANITA: Me too KristyW72. I knew it was going to be Hedi. I know the hurt in his heart because I'm suffering it too. We had to put our yellow lab down a month ago at the age of 11 from Anal Gland Cancer. She lived over a yr. after we were told. It hurts our hearts so much to loose our fur-babies but Praise God in time he heals our hearts and lets us tell about the memories made with them. God Bless You and Have a Great Day!
Elora you did a wonderful job. Keep your head up. Your uncle Dan has your back. Raise that voice so we can hear ya. You will get it. With as many team members cheering together you all will sound louder. Just know there is a lot of us proud of you.
My favorite pet was Miss Lola Mae. Half maltese, half bichon. The happiest little girl ever. Wagging tail and a big smile. She loved everyone and made them a part of our pack. She always did something to make me laugh. Made me go to bed early so she could settle in for the night and cuddled up to my legs. Little white ten pound sweetie
PACZKI (PŌŌNCH-SKI) It's a big donut filled with jelly's, custards, creams, chocolate. It's only served during Lent. I'm born and raised in Detroit MI. I've never had a pasty. They're most popular in the Upper Peninsula. I've been waiting for this episode for so long!!! I love y'all so much!!!❤❤❤❤
Hello from the sunny West Sussex Coast, UK! You've come across our delicious Cornish pasty. Originally prepared for the tin miners of Cornwall, these pasties had two sides; one side stuffed with meat and veggies, and the other side with fruit of the season. The thick twisted crust was designed to be held by the miner and discarded (presumably because hygiene wasn't a top concern back then). I have a suggestion for you: after you've finished your cooking journey around the States, how about a British cooking series? Many recipes originated here, such as the classic apple pie. 🍎 Sending blessings and positivity from the UK! 👋 xxx
I've been making pasty for years, I was taught by my grandmother. I always dice raw potatoes and onion and put it in a bowl. Add raw hamburger and frozen peas then season it with salt, pepper, granulated onion and garlic. Mix it up and spoon the filling into the pie crust and bake. I also make a creamy white sauce to pour over it. OMGosh it is absolutely delicious. My favorite pet was my piggy Bitsy, she would ring a bell on my back door when she needed to go to the bathroom and she loved her belly rubs. 😊
I’m born, raised and still here in Michigan. You haven’t had a paste until you have tried them from northern Michigan. We always bought them when we travels north above the Mackinac bridge. 5 mile suspension bridge. Called the Might Mac. Omg they had all kinds of pastes up there. They are pretty big and thick. One is filling. I like the beef kind. But the beef looks like it goes through a grinder. Heat it up, I’d cut mine open and add butter. Since my parents passed away, I haven’t been up there in over 10 years now. My cousin has a paste shop. I should see if they ship lol. They are a good 5 or 6 inches wide. Round. Think homemade crust as it’s flaky and the edges are pinched like.
I make meat pies with leftover meat that is cold. Chicken, pork, beef, etc. Brush the top with egg whites and bake 20 minutes no more than that. Great for camping, hiking, travel snacks, filling and healthy. I also make some dessert ones, usually with can Bisquets rolled flat. Perfect size. Great cheer Elora, happy birthday Cayden.
It’s like how the Pioneers would all work together. The morrow family is one in a million that all work together. They are a god fearing family. God bless all the morrow family. The great family this part show how they love the leader which is pawpaw and G.
Heidi was such an amazing part of the family and a great partner for PawPaw🥲. Hearing him say her name made me tear up🥺. He sure misses her.

You can use water alone the edge to help seal the crust together
Pasties looked good, fries did look pretty tasty too. Happy Birthday Cayden. And Elora's cheer was awesome!
Dan's the man and it's written all over Lou's face
😂 you know it.

Buddy’s jokes just crack me up! 😂 I love his sense of humor!

Pasty pronounced "pass tee" they brown better and quicker if you brushed the pastry with beaten egg before you bake.
Meat pies looked good, the fries did look awesome. Loved the stories, it was nice to hear about pets we have never met. Have a great day ❤🍯

It’s not enough fence work to have everyone. Most people will be just picking up.

Here in wva we melt butter and Italian seasoning then brush on the pastie or just a egg wash before baking ❤❤

I know I'm in tears also😢
Why tears?
You guys and your happy birthday singing cracks me up every time! 😊

Oh I love yall! So much fun!!! ❤
Really enjoyed this today!❤
So many things to like and so many ways to make it even easier! Y’all did great read up on working with pastry!!

Yay! Thank you!
Love the family dinners! The pasties looked delicious ❤️🥰
Great video, like the added story telling segment !
Love cooking videos
It’s like how the Pioneers would all work together. The morrow family is one in a million that all work together. They are a god fearing family. God bless all the morrow family. The great family this part show how they love the leader which is pawpaw and G.
