My grandmother told me ( she’s past away now) that when my Aunt was about 8 years old they realized she was showing signs of being handicapped. She had before then but this was when it was blatantly obvious. She said a Dr told her to just,” move on with her life , he’d find a place to keep my Aunt !” My grandmother said she walked out with my Aunt to never return to that Dr.... my Grandparents did such an amazing job raising her, she is a joy to everyone she meets. She functions on about a 10 year old level but had she been thrown in a cage ... well I can’t even think about it!! Love to all from Alabama, USA ♥️

Unfortunately our mental health facilities in the 70s seemed to be all like that. People we didn’t know how to help or couldn’t help. Bad management (government), bad employees, again government. It’s unfortunate and I hope some of those people went on to have wonderful lives. I’m not against government btw, just this is my view of them running any type of care for citizens.

This is horrifying. I felt the same helpless feeling when I met my hubby after he told me all the terrible things done to him Growing up and he's turning 30 on the 7th of October. This shit needs to stop and people need to start listening to these kids! He spoke up so many times and every one wouldn't listen and he was returned to the same people that were doing the tortur it isn't right at all the damage it does to a person is just unreal and it lasts a lifetime. I worked for an Upstate New York ARC and we provided care for a several consumers that came from Willowbrooke. Although it had been years since they were facilitated there you could see the toll that kind of abuse took on them. Some of the stories I heard about Willowbrooke and the treatment of consumers I cared for made me sick. It made providing them with love, respect and dignity so much more important because they deserved more than what they got. It was a very stressful job at times but seeing my consumers happy and healthy made it worth it. I think I got more out of it than they did but I've always loving caring for others.

There were numerous “hospitals” where the mentally and physically disabled were discarded and severely abused. The hospitals for the mentally ill are still subpar compared to hospitals for the physically ill but they don’t begin to compare to the treatment seen here. How utterly heartbreaking! I don't want to detract from the horrific abuse of those children and people in that home, anyone who had anything (negative) to do with it should have been jailed for life. But I'm interested in the other video of the black apparition that appeared in that room. As a child I was terrified of the dark and having to go to sleep. The reason being a while after the lights turned out, this vaguely man shape would appear but it was so tall, like 8 foot tall. It'd be on my side of the room so in terror I'd get into my sister's bed on the other side of the room. I'd close my eyes, open them again and he'd be on this side of the room and so on and so on. Jump forward 12 or so years and I start telling people about this. Almost without fail, girls would say they experienced the same thing as a young child. Often there'd be goosebumps at the recall of the memory, like they'd forgotten all about it until my reminding them, sometimes even tears of fear. Oddly no boy or man I've asked has any memory of this happening but through my life, adult women have often recalled this. It would be interesting if you could do a video on this subject and ask if others have experienced this. I lived in South Africa at the time and was born in England in 1965. Unfortunately our mental health facilities in the 70s seemed to be all like that. People we didn’t know how to help or couldn’t help. Bad management (government), bad employees, again government. It’s unfortunate and I hope some of those people went on to have wonderful lives. I’m not against government btw, just this is my view of them running any type of care for citizens.

This is horrifying. I felt the same helpless feeling when I met my hubby after he told me all the terrible things done to him Growing up and he's turning 30 on the 7th of October. This shit needs to stop and people need to start listening to these kids! He spoke up so many times and every one wouldn't listen and he was returned to the same people that were doing the tortur it isn't right at all the damage it does to a person is just unreal and it lasts a lifetime.
I pray this changes even in our day and age we need to pay more attention to these kids that just get pushed aside, every life matters and every kid especially ones that grow up in terrible situations need that

I worked for an Upstate New York ARC and we provided care for a several consumers that came from Willowbrooke. Although it had been years since they were facilitated there you could see the toll that kind of abuse took on them. Some of the stories I heard about Willowbrooke and the treatment of consumers I cared for made me sick. It made providing them with love, respect and dignity so much more important because they deserved more than what they got. It was a very stressful job at times but seeing my consumers happy and healthy made it worth it. I think I got more out of it than they did but I've always loving caring for others.

#1 hit me, I been to Letchworth Village (abandoned) to explore, was shut down same way like Willow Brook and you can feel the fear within the walls, still gives me the chills thinking about it, and I can still recall the scream I heard of a woman when I was in the basement.

There were numerous “hospitals” where the mentally and physically disabled were discarded and severely abused. The hospitals for the mentally ill are still subpar compared to hospitals for the physically ill but they don’t begin to compare to the treatment seen here. How utterly heartbreaking! On the right, and on the left! Pareidolia?! Perhaps. But for those of you who love children and can't stand even the thought of them being mistreated, abused, experimented on, and treated like animals, take comfort in the thought that the people responsible for such cruelty, they're being stalked by demons awaiting for the moment that they can pounce upon them and drag their rotten corpses to hell! I can't stand the thought of a helpless child, old person, animal, and especially a child with physical or mental handicaps being mistreated, abused, or starved. *sigh* Whether or not that is actually demons in the photo, is pretty much irrelevant, I have faith that whatever injustice these poor children suffered, it will be corrected and if not in this lifetime in the next.

I don't want to detract from the horrific abuse of those children and people in that home, anyone who had anything (negative) to do with it should have been jailed for life.
But I'm interested in the other video of the black apparition that appeared in that room. As a child I was terrified of the dark and having to go to sleep. The reason being a while after the lights turned out, this vaguely man shape would appear but it was so tall, like 8 foot tall. It'd be on my side of the room so in terror I'd get into my sister's bed on the other side of the room. I'd close my eyes, open them again and he'd be on this side of the room and so on and so on. Jump forward 12 or so years and I start telling people about this. Almost without fail, girls would say they experienced the same thing as a young child. Often there'd be goosebumps at the recall of the memory, like they'd forgotten all about it until my reminding them, sometimes even tears of fear. Oddly no boy or man I've asked has any memory of this happening but through my life, adult women have often recalled this. It would be interesting if you could do a video on this subject and ask if others have experienced this. I lived in South Africa at the time and was born in England in 1965.
