EASY "Peasy" Knitted Lacy Scarf (4 Righties)

- Welcome. This video will teach you how to knit a scarf with a "lacy ripple effect." This scarf is not hard to knit, but also not for beginners. I think that slightly advanced or very talented beginners could tackle this project. YOU NEED TO KNOW - knit stitch, knit 2 stitches together, yarn over, cast on, and bind off. You NEED to concentrate and count your stitches (= say your YOs and decreases aloud).
Use this pattern for scarves, blankies, baby sweaters, shawls, ponchos. For a free written pattern and to read more info about this project visit my blog :

I've been in a knitting slump for a while. I was recently gifted a bunch of yarn and I've been searching for a new project to motivate me to get back into knitting again. I found this and so far I'm about eight sets in. Such an simple yet gratifying set of stitches. So pretty! Thank you so much for the work that you put into your videos!
Thank you Gabriella - enjoy and don't give up knitting... it is an art and we all should be making art (to keep out of trouble 😂 ) 🌹🌹
Wonderful instructions! Beautiful scarf! Thanks so much!
Thank you for showing how to knit in the English style. You are an excellent teacher. I am making this for a birthday present for a dear friend. Beautiful scarf!
thank you for your comment - 👍
Thank you very much for taking the time to show English style. It is so nice to be included.

Hi Carmen - thank you for your comment 🌹
I was looking for a pattern to use as a gift scarf to my new sister-in-law from India. she will get here just before Christmas and this is a perfect pattern for me to knit for her. now to find a nice hat pattern that will match. Thank you so much!
Thank you Bronislava. This is a beautiful pattern. I admire the way you show Continental style and English style. You are so clear and comprehensive in your directions. Thank you from Canada!
+Susan Lymbery - I thank you very much for visiting and knitting along, really much appreciated... I am happy it was useful :-)
THANK YOU! This was exactly something I was looking for! I love watching continental. This narrow scarf is perfect.
You are so welcome, Cynthia 🌹
Thank you, I practiced on some leftovers, love the effect and love that I only have to pay attention for one out of every four rows
Perfect way to practice lace patterns :-) 🌹🌹🌹
Good point - no movie watching for one row ha ha
Thank you for your easy instruction. I practiced several times and am now knitting the scarf. Very beautiful.
Hi Bobby - saying it aloud in the beginning is most important until you get used to the pattern - if you miss YO or decrease it is very hard to fix it 🍀
Terrific design and so easy to follow. I really appreciated the demonstration in both English and Continental styles. A+++
+John Hopkins I am glad it was helpful, thank you for watching
Thank you! One of the best tutorial videos, I have ever watched. I liked the fact that you explained the steps involved, before starting to knit. I wrote down the instructions, as you mentioned them. It was easy to follow the demonstration with my written notes. Now, I am eager to try making one.
Hi Renuka, Glad it was helpful! I think that there is a link below the video (in the description) to my blog with a written pattern...
Thank you !
Very wonderful vidio ihave ever learnt mk
Absolutely Exquisite! After making a dish cloth size, I decide that I loved it enough to make a blanket. So far, I have two 6 foot long panels and I no longer fear lace patterns. Thank you!
Hello Shemper! 🌸 That is wonderful! I love lacy patterns - and I love my Japanese stitch pattern book - I want to incorporate more of the patterns into my projects... Thank you for your nice comment 🌸💜
Hello Bronislava from San Diego, Ca! I want to say Thank You so much for this tutorial. I love your teaching technique. You are very easy to follow and the scarf is beautiful. Using the small rubber band is genius as aa stitch marker. Thank you again for this tutorial. Please continue to provide your viewers/followers with your excellent tutorials! I am a big fan. Stay healthy.
Hi Vanessa, Thank you for your kind words - I enjoy teaching how to knit and crochet - sometimes I get carried away 💐💛
This scarf is beautiful! This is only the second thing I have knitted so far! I think you have done a wonderful job explaining and teaching ! Thank you so much!
Thank you, Crystal. I know that some more advanced people get bored with my videos, but they can skip the boring stuff and see what they need to know, and people that need more in-depth video can keep watching and even re-winding 🌹🌹
Beautiful, I'm definitely going to knit this. Thanks for the great pattern and instructions.
Thank you - I hope it turns out great - count your stitches :-) 🌹🌨❄🌹
Beautiful scarf that I plan to KNIT NEXT!!! Thanks for the tutorial on knitting the Continental way because I'm going to try that next. Cuz I'm an English dialed knitter. Your style seems less complicated and quicker. Thanks for the tips on biting off and adding that extra row. You're a great teacher. Continue on.
thank you for your nice compliments - good luck with your project 🌹🌸
70 years ago I was taught continental style. So happy as it cuts the down.
I live in Japan and no one here does English style but only continental and there’s another combination style, which is what my grandma used to knit in. So all of the English style videos I don’t normally watch because it’s confusing. Thank goodness you show in continental style now I can follow.
Beautiful pattern btw! Thanks for sharing!! Just subscribed. :)
Hi Ellie, thank you for your follow 🌹🌸💛 - I love knitting in Continental - that is how my mom taught me - enjoy my videos
I like your short class of explaing how to knit English and Continental Style, your pattern got my attention. Soon as I finish my socks for my grandson, I am going to try your pattern. Thanks
Thank you!
Easy pattern. Loved it. Thank you for clear explanation.
Thanks Meeta 🌹
Thank you for this lovely pattern and nice explanation. Making a pink scarf and it looks beautiful.
You’re welcome 😊 Swati
I'm a new knitter and with your easy explanation I think I can do this scarf that looked pretty hard at first look. Thanks for breaking it down into easy to follow instructions. Great job!
+Ina Pupo Happy to hear that... if you are a beginner, you need to concentrate on counting stitches - do not knit when there are distractions around you... good luck
Thanks for the advice, I need all that I can get, I bought myself a stitch counter to keep track and I have been using it. It is not as easy to count as when I do crochet. The stitches are lot smaller.
Perfect video, very helpful! Thank you for the thorough instructions.
You're very welcome Julia 🌹🌹
Very Well Said & Demonstrated! Great showing both English Style & Continental 🤩🤗👏🧶 Thank You Very Much! Therese
Thank you Stephen 💛
Love this pattern. Can’t wait to knit one. So, thank you for an excellent easy to follow tutorial!
Rhea, Have fun! 🥂
Thank you for great tutorial. I started my scarf and it is coming out very nice. Great intro to lace knitting.
Thank you for your comment - I agree that this is a wonderful pattern to learn lace knitting - happy to be helpful 🌸
Thanks for such an easy demonstration on the scarf. I'll definitely try it as a new beginner. I can do the English style. Trying to lear the continental, it's so faster. I'm left handed and by your demonstrations I gained more insight than watching the continental demon on line. It's in how to hold/wrap the yarn and how hold the needles. Thank you so much. Do you have a video on continental knitting? Keep up the good works!!
Over the years, I made lots of videos. Please check my channel. There is a video how to hold knitting needles for Continental knitting. I am not sure if I do have it for a left handed people. Good luck.
YOU'RE THE BEST this is the easiest tutorial I ever found, beautiful pattern, I love your voice and how you keep explaining! it's so easy to follow and how you're doing both continental and English style is the cherry on top ♥ I love this, greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Hello Bronislava! I love how you have videoed yourself while knitting. I haven't knit anything except for straight garter stitch pieces for years. With your assistance (via video) I'm going to try this scarf, It's gorgeous!
Its very beautiful pattern and so easy. I made a beautiful scarf. thank you for sharing it with us.
Oh this is so lovely and simple! Jist what I was looking for. I'm going to experiment a bit with adding this to a shawl
Have fun! And happy New Year!🥂🍾
I stumbled onto your video by chance and I’m delighted that I have. Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. I adore the pattern, knitting it now and can’t wait to wear it
*love!
Hello Cherlouise - I am delighted that you find my video easy to follow - good luck 🍀🌹
Love this pattern,so pretty and very easy thank you for sharing
thank you too 🌹
Thankyou for this so much. This is my first knitting project that's not just basic knit squares. I wrote your instructions down but i increased the stitches to 126 stitches so i can wear it like a shawl. So far im doing well for my first project following a pattern. My friend whos been knitting for 30 plus years says that what I've done so far with this project doesn't look like I'm a beginner knitter. You made it very easy & clear to understand unlike other project instructions, ive found them overwhelming to try. My mum used to knit with continental style, although i didn't realise until i watched this video so that bought back good memories of watching my mum knitting❤. Your accent is beautiful.
Catherine, thank you for sharing a nice memory with me. Let me know how your shawl turned out. I am proud of all my followers that do well knitting or crocheting along with my videos... 🍀🌹
@@HandMadeRukodelky i made a mistake & ruined completly lost my stitches trying to fix it because i don't know what i did wrong or how to fix it. So i had to unravel it all. Luckily i had only done about 20-40 rows. So i have started again. If i make another mistake I'll refer to knitting groups to get help of what i did wrong & how to fix it properly without ruining my work 😂. Thanx again.
Catherine, you either forgot to do YO, or you forgot to decrease... you have to pay huge attention to those - no watching TV, and no talking to anyone 😉- also sometimes that YO goes over the stitch marker to the other section - so watch that too... 🍀
Bronislava 4 HandmadeRukodelky thank you. I'll let u know when I've finished
Very very pretty.Love it! !!!
Thank you so much, this is a great educative knitting vid. My sister starting her first project on this and I helping her, she's a brilliant sewer, but has never knitted before, so a big thank you.
You are so welcome Linda - have a great time together. Make sure you don't forget any "yarn overs" - it can mess up your pattern and it is really hard to take rows out in lacy patterns... I try to say my stitches aloud so I do not forget to increase/decrease in right places... 🍀🌹
@@HandMadeRukodelky Hello again Bronislava, aaawe, thank you so much for the extra tips, you are so right, we did mess up the first row of pattern!! How could we do that, well I think I took my eye off the ball and my wee sister missed a "Yarn over", what a laugh!! She then, when my back turned, pulled the whole thing out, wanting to "start again", "No, said I, we could have saved it by just going back to the four rows of garter stitch", "no said she, I want to start again" ... Ah well that's perfection pattern for you!! have a great day, and that's a good strategy to say the stitches out loud. hearts and roses Linda xo
Ha, Linda - don't hey say "practice makes perfect?" I am proud of you two ladies - 🌹🌹
I really can't wait to try this. Want to make my Mother-in-law a nice scarf for Christmas! Thank you!
+Jess Gege - you are welcome, make it from a soft yarn, because the scarf rubes against the skin 🌹🌷
Bronislava 4 HandmadeRukodelky ok will do I have this pretty hunter green yarn! Starting it today! Super excited.
Thank you. It very beautiful, I am a beginner but you are explaining simple way.
+Kala Ramnath - TY too
Very good job l like it easy to learn your explanation.
Thank you 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Great your showing the English way very easy to follow
I just saw your video. It is great. Very pretty and not too hard. You will one of my two next projects!
Have fun, Pat - thank you for knitting along 🌹
amazing work ... very nice scarf and a beautiful stitch ... thank you 😊
thank you too!
This is an excellent tutorial. Thank you for your patient explanation ☺️
Thank you AntW 🌹🌸🌹🌸
I love the Continental stitch. I am learning English but I think I would prefer Continental. You make it look so smooth and easy and the scarf is beautiful!!!
Hi Judy, some people can knit as smooth and easy in English as I do in Continental... I just grew up with Continental knitting... I didn't know there is an English style until I saw knitters here in the US knit that way - I was shocked to see a style like that, and since I taught knitting I had to learn to show them the stitches because they could not grasp (visually) what I was showing them in Continental (although I understood what they wanted to do in English)... I still struggle with English style and wish I would be smooth... but knowing both styles is wonderful when I want to knit fair isle patterns 🌹
I learned to knit a few years ago but never attempted to do anything besides rows of knit or purl. Your instructions are so clear that I am going to put my crochet aside to try this scarf pattern. Thank you.
Hi Eloise, thank you for nice comment - good luck, I am sure you can do it if you go slow - make sure you do same number of YOs as decreases.... speak tyo yourself when you are knitting -take your time until you get hang of it 🍀
Thank you for the beautiful work. I appreciate the tip about using shorter needles on a narrow project.💐😊
You are so welcome Tammy 🌹🌸🌸
Beautiful scarf, thanks for sharing the pattern.
Thank you, It was so easy to follow you. Now I'm on my way to finish before cold days.
Thank you Svetlana - 🍀🌼🌸🌹
@@HandMadeRukodelky I did it, beautiful! Thinking of starting next one.
Thank you for video.. I have a treasured scarf the my grandmother made for me many years ago this video is very similar pattern to what she made for me. I think I will now be able to make another one. Looking forward to giving it a try.
Yes - cherish your grandmother's scarf - I am cherishing my mom's knitted doilies - they look like cobwebs and they are hidden away so they do not get destroyed - thank you for your wonderful story...
Love the way you change styles
First time watching your video. Lovely clear instructions and such a pretty pattern.Thank you very much . Looking forward to knitting it and watching your other videos.
You're a great teacher! Complete beginner but I'm trying this tonight!
William, let me know how you are doing - advice for a beginner - make sure you concentrate on your YO, and decreases (K2tog or SSK - whichever is in the video) - there must be the same number of YO and decreases in the same section - count your stitches... if you will have more stitches in the section you didn't decrease or you made more YO, if you have lower number of stitches - you forgot to do YO or made more decreases than needed... talk your pattern aloud like a mantra and you should be OK (not make a mistake) good luck 🍀
Bronislava 4 HandmadeRukodelky thanks so much I have to count out loud or I lose track
Bronislava 4 HandmadeRukodelky I'm so grateful for this video and you sharing your talent I tried to learn to crochet and knit as a young child from my amazing great grandmother but I couldn't pick it up 💛💛💛
William, that is a wonderful story about your grandma.... I have fond memories of my grandma too, although she didn't know how to knit or crochet - she did needlework though... I learned knitting and crochet from my mom
Love it very easy to follow Thankyou so much.
You are most welcome 🌸🌸
love this pattern i’m making a few for gifts -thank you
Lucky people that will get your gifts Christina 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Just beautiful! Thank you for sharing!! I’m gonna do this right away!
Thank you Celeste - may yours turn beautiful - make sure you count your yarn overs and decreases too - they all have to cancel each other out = in each row you have to have the same number of stitches 🌹
Bronislava 4 HandmadeRukodelky I will! Thanks again, you’re not only talented but so kind! 🙏🌹
You are welcome, Celeste 🌸
Thank you for the information. Have. Learned a lot from your videos. Keep posting.
Debbie Witham txs, will do :-)
Thank you your knitting speed is perfect for me
You’re welcome 😊 Lee 🌸
Thank you for this video,it's very clear for a beginner as me.
Hi Joyce - excellent - so happy to make you happy 🌹
Thank you for doing both styles, I knot english and it's hard for a beginner to translate. I will be trying this today!
You're welcome 😊
hi thank you for sharing & taking the time to make a video . beautiful pattern.
I learned to knit the english style in school. My mother saw me struggle with my projects, plus my stitch tension were either too tight or way to loose. & it was very slow progress which for kids can be discouraged.
I would swap with knitting styles depending on the mood. After a shoulder neck injury. I found that I could knit for longer with the continental style than the English style after my injuries.
thanks again
wow - what a nice story - thank you so much sharing it with all of us - I am intrigued by you saying that the continental style is easier on your shoulder neck injuries... very interesting - again THANK YOU VERY MUCH sharing this info with knitters - your post may help one day someone - two thumbs up
Bronislava Slagle n
I'm quite happy to watch your videos no matter which style you use. I wish I could knit in the continental style, but I have trouble doing the purl rows. The important part is the pattern or the project, not how you hold the yarn!! Love your videos. :)
Jennifer Lang thank you!!! yes - the project is important - but I think if I would try to show both ways more people can benefit :-)
Im very excited you could share this with me. Now I will got buy some special llama wool or mush ox to make this. Thank you
Have fun Laura 🌹🌹
This is a beautiful pattern. It looks complicated but in fact it is very easy! Thank you for this video. i will be making this scarf!
yes - it is very easy, the most difficult is to pay attention 🙃
I'm just teaching my self to knit I will try this 🧣 watching from jamaica
Hello Sandra, I hope your scarf came out well 💛 to Jamaica

Excelent - txs! 🌹
Thank you very much for the tutorial...I just finished making a scarf for my mother-in-law and eager to make one for me too...soon
Hi Nirlata - hope your MIL loves it - what a nice gift for her 🌹
I love the pattern and I love how you explain it. Very helpful and not full of talking like a lot of vids. But I think you should stick with the style that is comfortable for you. The continental style is as easy to follow as the English style. Love your tutorials.
Thank you for your very nice comment 🌹🌹🌹
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I got it.............the markers made it happen............thank you so much.
great 👍
thank you so much for your expert video!!! You have inspired me to learn more lace knitting stitches
Yay, thank you Loreena 🌹🍀
Thankyou for sharing! Love this pattern!
You are welcome, Chulee 🌸
I completely enjoyed the video. Keep going 👍
Thank you! Will do!
This is beautiful! I'm going to make this!! Thank you!
This is such a lovely pattern. At the moment I'm knitting a plain knit stitch scarf because I'm a beginner. I like that you are showing the English style because Continental style is confusing for me. I'm hoping to knit this next! Please can you show other small easy projects like men's beanie hat and a market bag. I'm looking forward to some new stitching styles too. Thanks for the easy tutorial!😄
Thank you for ideas Suraiya, visit my channel for small projects - I do have a job now so I do not post as often 🌹 but I will keep your ideas in my mind
Very clear, easy to follow. Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊 Huong, happy you had no problem with yarn overs and counting 🍀
Thank you so much for this amazingly gorgeous and well explained pattern idea! ❤
You are very welcome Lisa 🌸
Thank you!!! My count now are 18 on either side! Your videos are so helpful, I really appreciate you taking the time to make them! Love from SE Louisiana!
Thank you for keeping me updated - be happy, healthy and safe :-)
Love this scarf. I can watch continental style and recognize the stitches easily. I knit English style, have tried continental but I'm all thumbs.
Beautiful
Very well explained
Can't wait to try this. It is beautiful. Thank you!❤
🌹 thank you too
Thank you for this lovely pattern!!!! Looking forward to more! 😊
You’re welcome 😊 Randi - thank you for stopping by 🌹
Thanks again🌸🌼🌹 Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄
Same to you, redredwine 🍷❄️
I love your Continental Style of knitting....I cannot knit English Style too much movement and very slow going picking up yarn and wrapping it...no too much...:)...I am a new knitter Continental is Perfect for me, so keep doing your videos i will watch them.
thank you for your comment - I too prefer continental style... but I think that many people rather do an extra movement because their stitches will not "fall" off the needle if they hold yarn in right hand (righties) or left hand (lefties)
Your video are very nice and explain very well thank you but i don't know how to knit i just crochet.
Hi Maria - I have plenty of crochet videos too - visit my channel and scroll through many videos - or below is the link with different playlists - you have to scroll through those also to see playlists with crochet projects - ruclips.net/user/HandMadeRukodelkyplaylists 🌸🍀
Thank you for such a simple but lovely pattern. Been looking for a lacy scarf pattern for ages and this is brilliant. I knit English style but would love to learn continental, it looks so much quicker.
Thank you Susan. Enjoy.
Thanks again🌺🌷🌸 Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you too, I hope you had great holidays
Thank you for showing the continental and english style! My german mother tried to teach
me her style, but i nether managed as in school at the same time i was shown the dutch style, the same as the english one. I did that all my life that is 8+ years. To put my left finger in the air is still impossible to do.
Hansi - it doesn't matter which style you knit - important is to knit - continental style vs English (in your case Dutch) deliver exactly same outcome - it is only how a person holds the yarn (left hand or right hand)... the yarn gets wrapped around the knitting needle exactly the same if you wrap it around the needle by hand, or if you grab the yarn with needle needle... the difference is only speed.... thank you for making a comment - this may help someone in the future :-) thank you

Very excited to make this for my stepmum.
You are a wonderful stepdaughter ❤️ I hope she likes it. Don’t forget to block it, so it stays flat and doesn’t “roll”
@@HandMadeRukodelky I will remember. She's a wonderful stepmum, and step granny. She was with me when my son was born, for all 36 hours of it, and has made my Dad very happy (which I thought was impossible after my Mum died.) It's nice to find such a lovely pattern in a style she'll love. Following you for more, this is so clear.
👍
Beautiful scarf your instructions are clear and understandable. I will watch your video a few more times, since I'm a beginner knitter. Thank you.
🍀 🌹 Go slow and you will do gr8 - good luck and let me know how you did - also, scarfs are long, so do not expect to finish it in a couple of days 🙂
I love this pattern, I wonder if this would make a baby blanket, by adding extra 18 sets at a time.
Thank you for sharing
Hi Shirley, I think this would make a beautiful baby blanket - for my scarf I used only 2 repeats (I made narrow scarf) and made it longer than regular scarf - I wanted my scarf to wrap around. Depending on the thickness of your yarn you will need many multiples of 18 stitches... what you need to do is knit a swatch of 18 stitches and about 10 rows to see how wide 1 repeat is. Baby crib blanket is usually 30" wide, regular baby blanket is 34" wide, and toddler blanket is about 45" wide. So choose the width of your blanket and divide it by width of your swatch - and that will be number of your repeats. Then add one extra repeat (this pattern tends to "shrink" in its width a little) - so for example if your answer to your equation is 9, add to it 1 = the answer will be 10 repeats of 18 stitches = total 180 sts... that would be the number of your cast on stitches 🌹🍀
Thank you. Very easy to follow
You are welcome "Rubyflowers" - enjoy and may your year 2021 be happy & especially healthy 💥 💥💥💥
I'm starting to be comfortable with the continental knit, it's getting better. It is faster, but takes awhile to get use to.
Hi Diane, I am very comfy with Continental, however some knitters are fab with English - just like myself in Continental... I just cannot get the grasp of the technique they use while knitting - how they hold the yarn/needles and the movement of their fingers
Thank you for showing the English style in your videos, I do appreciate that but being a person who likes to learn, I shall try your continental style as it looks a lot quicker and anything that is quicker is good 😀
thank you too
Thank you so much for this simple yet beautiful pattern. Had some gorgeous wool and silk yarn from my Mom and am knitting her a scarf with it.
Love this lady. Beautiful!
Thank you so much for nice comment 😁 🌹
Thank you for knitting English style. I cannot follow the continental way. Lovely scarf.
thank you - I try to incorporate the English style in my videos, even that I am not so good at it... I admire people that love this technique and knit very fast with it :-) 🌹
thank you for this pattern. it's much help
+Crystal Smalley thank you too, happy new year
