HITTING THE TRACK! Custom build drift spec Land Rover Defender V8 & C20XE Ford Escort van tear it up

- We take our heavily modified, custom built, drift spec, LS3 swapped Land Rover Defender, along with our ever popular Ford Escort drift van over to Mondello park in sunny Ireland to take part in Retro Stock 2024. After nearly 2 years of building the Land Rover, we finally get to test out what kind of animal we have created! With one of the little clips of the Land Rover gaining over 5 million views on Instagram it has certainly proved a popular little creation. It wasn't all plain sailing on the day though as you'll see. The Escort van was faultless all day pouring out smoke at every corner, and pulling some insane angles! We even managed to pick up a couple of awards on the day for "coolest build" and "most entertaining drifter" As always we try and get as many different angles as possible with the external and onboard cameras.
A big shout out to @woodencustomcars for sending over his track side footage for us to use in the video, massively helped out as I was in the garage for a few of the sessions helping with the Land Rover teething problems.
Anyway, enough rambling, time to get your cider (or should it be Guinness on this occasion) and watch along to see how the day unfolded.

Love how you 'finessed' the bodywork on the Landie. I did similar to the front corner of a mate's Group 4 Mk2 Escort at an event a few years back, much to the horror of the spectators.

Once the fuel problems were sorted it was flying! a few more tweaks, and learning how it drives and it’ll be awesome!

That was fucking brilliant. Fair play you boys can drive that's for sure. Its a bloody shame the Land Rover didn't hold out but im sure Jack will have it fixed in no time and no doubt will have it going better and madder than before!!! Well done boys, and fair play to ya!!!

Yeah was always going to be a bit of a test day at its first event, went well on the whole though! The XE’s do sound awesome especially when they’re pulling hard! Can’t wait to fire the one up in the mk4 Escort project!

Tremec T56 magnum, had a specialist look at it and he said be easier to get a new one 😂

New gearbox, plus we’ll be fitting an oil cooler and heat blankets on the exhaust sections that run down either side of the box 😬

Once we’ve got a new gearbox and ironed out some other bits we’ll make some plans. We’re trying to get it ready for drift matsuri 😅

@avin_the_crack I was looking at the tremec site.. I see they sell a cooler kit. Maybe you could make one up for the Landy or something close... might help with heat situation... lol at least the axles held 😅 this time
We’ve got some exhaust blanket on the way for the sections that run down either side of the box, and going to run some ducting to funnel air in and around it. Expensive oversight 😬
Who needs expensive polish and cloths when a ratchet strap and hammer does the job 😂😂😂😂😂

An the vans a bit tasty also. Whats engine and bhp has the van got? Top job by everyone. Seems everyone was definitely Avin The Crack.
Landy has around 550, the van runs a C20XE making 260 👍🏻
@@avin_the_crack wow that some good numbers for the Land Rover, you mite get a bit more power (around 40 bhp+) from the van, if you need it.
Was a fantastic video tho, told some mates about the Land Rover drifting, they soon changed their tune when they watched the video tho. With a lot of F words.
@Vince_Paul we had a few upgrades dropped in the LS before it went in. That’s what we like to hear, spread the word 😂
