    Fun fact, "Stoor" is from a Norse word "store" meaning large. It is the origin of the English surname Storey, which was my mother's maiden name, so I claim Stoor ancestry.
    Actually it was the Stoors who wore boots (sometimes). But yeah, the show seems determined to toss away any semblance of faithfulness to Tolkien's descriptions, and positively to glory in doing it:
    “We wanted to make something that was very different from the Shire that we've seen on screen ... In the books, the stoors are known for loving water. I think it's so interesting that their origins are a really arid and dry environment"
    What can one say?
