      @@tremendousyeet3467 If you are already showing that you may be closed-minded, then you are wrong. If it looks like something that some games may want to mimic with the aim of giving a retro vibe, then it has aged in a good way. The introduction with the train isn't as effective as it was in the 90s though, especially if you compare Half-Life to a recent game. For example, when I played Quake Champions for the first time, I was amazed by the character selection screen because of how realistic the characters' models looked. Back when Half-Life 1 got released, players thought it was the most realistic video game ever created. It even was a GOTY! When I played that game for the first time, so in the 2010s, I didn't think it looked realistic, it looked like an old game that was still playable and very enjoyable. It has aged, although NOT in a bad way. It still is a very good game.
      You can't just ignore the improvements its sequel has, especially the physics. You can't just ignore the technical progress that has happened afterwards. You can't just ignore the lightnings in games like Doom 3 or Batman Arkham Asylum...

    This is the fun of an arena shooter: No holds-barred ultra violence with zero concern for points or skill, just jump in, grab what you can, and shoot.
    Matchmaking is good and all for competitiveness, but honestly letting people group themselves into servers of certain skill levels makes for a real fun time

    • @zackquillan7292
      @zackquillan7292 5 месяцев назад +14

      Exactly. If I hop into a server and I'm way outclassed, I'll have some fun and practice against high skill opponents or I'll just find a server with a lower average skill level. Matchmaking treats you like a kid, server browsing treats you like an adult who can make their own decisions.

    • @FarhanSaid....
      @FarhanSaid.... 5 месяцев назад

      @@zackquillan7292Matchmaking always give me 1v9 (terrible teammates+better enemy teammates) if i have that match in server browser in multiplayer games,i would just spectate and wait to see better enemy players leave the game and then hop back at the game.
      This is the reason why server browser multiplayer games so timeless to play compared to matchmaking

    • @pravkdey
      @pravkdey 5 месяцев назад +4

      Exactly. Playing original COD4 the higher level players would often fight each other even on the same map and same game.
      Like they'd know the best places on the map to go and usually meet there and duke it out. Us newbies would usually rush straight out into the open and spray and pray until someone died lol, and eventually get better and the cycle continues haha

    I played plenty of Half-Life Deathmatch long before the update. I was trying to look for servers to play on that had players, and I ended up finding a few favorites. But yeah, most of the players, if not all, were just bots (one of the servers would only be filling with actual people once a week) and I did want to see what maps they had so I felt they were enjoyable. When the update came I went on looking for more servers to play on and one of them had a whole bunch of players and it was mad crazy in there. I only felt like it was a true multiplayer experience that time.

    If you liked this, give a shot to Zombie Panic Source. It's not this fast paced, but it's very, very funny, atmospheric and intense.

    Enjoyed this when it came out. This, counter strike beta, etc. were actually the pinnacle of hardcore gaming. We all used Kali matchmaking to find servers.
