This channel is RC PBS and you are Bob Ross! I watch the videos and feel the stress drain away. Thank you for all the effort and hard work, remember there are no mistakes just happy accidents!
60% Bob Ross, %40 David Attenborough. Though, every since I began watching/listening to his content, I've always pictured him as being the wise neighbor of Tim Allen on 'Tool Time'.
The plus is referring to a larger stator(rotor). Its 28mm diameter vs the normal 25mm. I have 2 of these, an 11t and 16t and love them. I turned my friends onto them, rhey live them too. Getting s 13t next. I have an original 1800kv fusion, an axe 2100v2, 1080 w HH cms 10t, isdt esc70 and 1080 is paired w the surpass motors. Great content, thank you for your hard work 👍
Yeah, it was in the postcript/epilogue/after-credits in the video. I like to do the minimum of research before I test anything-- not an excuse for laziness, I just don't want to take in any preconceptions. I have a 20T on the way, I've got too many rigs that have what are clearly "2S gearboxes" and need to slow things down as much as possible.
They also now have a surpass hobby rocket CRAWLER 540 plus, with a black can and gold solder tabs. It would be really interesting to see a comparison of the two.
These + Surpass motors have a larger rotor compared to normal 540s. Holmes Hobbies has the same thing. It's called Crawlmaster Magnum and it costs 175 bucks. :D Eh, now I hear that you explain it at the end.
Always great vids. I thought that the REEDY 5 slot was a great motor that came with my Sendero SE. will be looking to upgrade to the GOLD MOTOR! 13t Ty
I’m curious… I know the Canyon Trails are your main stock tire baseline for tire tests. It’d be interesting to see a comparison with the Canyon RT (stock TRX6) and Canyon Trails. There’s only one other video I’ve seen comparing the two, and, at least in that video, the RT’s looked to edge out the Canyon Trails by a tiny bit. Just a thought, might make for some interesting content.
As they're onlt found on the TRX-6 and the new Trail K10, they're not nearly as easy to come by as regular 1.9 CTs, and I don't feel like dropping 30 a pair on tires that I don't know where they're gonna go-- as the 2.2s are like 5.3". I'd love to test 'em, but they don't really fit in a hole that needs fillin', if that makes sense.
I wish there was a way you could try my Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Magnum 11t 5 slot. I'd be more than willing to take the Pepsi challenge with any 3 slot out there. I compared the internals with one of those "knock offs" and there's no real comparison in quality and performance. I just got lucky at the right time and was able to buy one, there's no way I could afford to replace it now if I had to. I run it with an 11t pinion and have never seen anything perform like it. Great top speed and a massive amount of hold on the drag brake. I may even be willing to send it out to you to try, really is amazing.
At the pricepoint of the Magnum, it could not, in my estimation, ever be good enough. It costs more than any outrunner setup I own (FAR more,) and about 50% more (after you supply an ESC) than a Fusion Pro. It might be the best brushed motor in the world, but it's sitting at such a boutique level I'm never going to find out (for more than just the price reason, really.) It costs over 3x the price of the Rocket 540+, and I think that's way, way beyond the point of diminishing returns. ...and I'm ordinarily not one to pre-judge, as I pride myself as en empiricist. But here we are.
I wasn't trying to justify the price, I know it's way to expensive for a brushed motor. I just thought it would be interesting to see someone else's thoughts and experience with it. Haven't seen anyone do that yet. And I wasn't trying to "put down" yours, sorry if that's what you thought. Was just an honest offer. I don't have other people I can run with where I live, and my health wouldn't allow it anyway, so I have to live vicariously through RUclips.
@@shadow7796 Oh, if we're talking about running it without having to buy it and sending it back to you, I'm 100% for that. If you're interested in loaning it out for a few days, contact me through the crawlercanyon at gmail and we can sort out the shipping address. What are you using for ESC?
There's just no way we could hit the 100% Chinese motor price point while making Magnums in the US. Surpass bought magnums right after they came out (through a proxy) and released the 540+ within a few months. All the benefits of my work without having to do it themselves 👌 Same magnet arc, thickness, rotor skew, etc. But thats just what companies do these days.
Surplus Hobbies is hit and miss. This motor seems good. I run a Surpasses Hobbies 1450 KV Outrunner on an AM32 Heli ESC that seems to doing well. Their ESCs…. different story in my experience. 👍🏼

Great analogy…. Video gold! 👍
Absolutely golden

And just like that, canyon history was made.

Just bought the V2 motor. Why does mine have a big advanced timing at the 0 deg marker? I changed to -20 deg. I used a Amp meter to adjust the timing.
Gooooooold 🤣 What a great little motor! I'm not usually a gold guy, but that thing looks awesome
I was on Hobbywings web site and had to order a 1080 G2 and 11 turn 5 slot....Going to put it in my cheep rig ...
It's $41 on aliexpress

It has the exact magnet as the brushless motors do in that 5-slot motor
hmm- Goldfinger - nice one
Another great one

Dang that's a sexy looking motor
Awesome 😎
Shouldn't forget to mention the blue version for 10 bucks less. I was kicking myself when I found that later.
But... gold. Twelve bucks for goooooold seems like a steal.
🤣
What is the blue version?
@@human890209yang It's a rebranded version of the same motor. Just not gooold.
@@FaithSaraG Could you share the url of it?
Well that ballooned into a rocket +. You can't shoot that down.
Just sent ya something on ig if you have time to check
