im sorry i cried here kasi as a former atenean, i trully miss ateneo but i have to move on and continue my lasallian journey. Thank you Ateneo for 9 years 😭😭
We stand on a hill between the earth and sky. Now all is still where Loyola's colors fly. Our course is run and the setting sun ends Ateneo's day. Eyes are dry at the last goodbye; this is the Ateneo way. Mary for you! For your white and blue! We pray you'll keep us, Mary, constantly true! We pray you'll keep us, Mary, faithful to you! Down from the hill, down to the world go I; rememb'ring still, how the bright Blue Eagles fly. Through joys and tears, through the laughing years, we sing our battle song: Win or lose, it’s the school we choose; This is the place where we belong! Mary for you! For your white and blue! We pray you'll keep us, Mary, constantly true! We pray you'll keep us, Mary, faithful to you!
CONSECRATION TO THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST Conscious, Merciful Savior, of my nothingness and of Thy sublimity, I cast myself at Thy feet and thank Thee for the many proofs of Thy grace shown unto me, Thy ungrateful creature. I thank Thee especially for delivering me by Thy Precious Blood from the destructive power of Satan. In the presence of my dear Mother Mary, my Guardian Angel, my patron Saint, and the whole company of Heaven - I dedicate myself voluntarily with a sincere heart, O dearest Jesus, to the Precious Blood by which Thou hast redeemed the world from sin, death, and Hell. I promise Thee, with the help of Thy grace and to the utmost of my strength, to stir up and foster devotion to Thy Precious Blood, the price of our redemption so that Thy adorable Blood may be honored and glorified by all. In this way, I wish to make reparation for my disloyalty towards Thy Precious Blood of love and to make satisfaction to Thee for the many profanations that men commit against that precious price of their salvation. O would that my own sins, my coldness, and all the acts of disrespect I have ever committed against Thee, O Holy Precious Blood, could be undone. Behold, O dearest Jesus, I offer to Thee the love, honor, and adoration which Thy Most Holy Mother, Thy faithful disciples, and all the Saints have offered to Thy Precious Blood. I ask Thee to forget my earlier faithlessness and coldness and to forgive all who offend Thee. Sprinkle me, O Divine Savior, and all men with Thy Precious Blood so that we, O Crucified Love, may love Thee from now on with all our hearts and worthily honor the price of our salvation. Amen. We fly to Your patronage , O Holy Mother of God. Despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us from all dangers, O ever Glorious and Blessed Virgin. Amen. @@Strauss1269 He would remember the Canadian garbage exported to the Philippines and how Duterte an Ateneo kickout threatened war if Canada would not retrieve them.
It was based on Lavalée's tune, but slightly rearranged. Interestingly, Canada officially adopted it in the 1980s, decades after Ateneo began using this song as its hymn.
Why did this top Philippine university end up copying a Canadian anthem just to have a school hymn? Don't tell me you are not aware of plagiarism. Can't you afford a professional musician to help you compose an original anthem?
Before you get too smug about that, note that it merely ADAPTS the tune of O Canada. Both are great songs. Whereas Columbia University and the University of Pittsburgh use the ACTUAL TUNE of the German national anthem as their alma mater. Anything that old (1880 or 1797, respectively) is beyond copyright and anyone can make up new lyrics and record the song.
@@NardsU2 Ever since Cornell chose the 1850s popular song "Annie Lisle" as the tune for its alma mater in the early 1870s, schools have been borrowing the music from well known songs for their alma maters. Just a few examples: Ohio State University's alma mater "Carmen Ohio" is based on an early 20th-century Christian hymn, "Spanish Hymn." The University of Texas chose the American folk song "I've Been Working on the Railroad" as the basis for "The Eyes of Texas." And the University of Pennsylvania adopted the tune of "Боже, Царя храни!" (God Save the Tsar!), the national anthem of the Russian Empire from 1833 to 1917. I really only know about American songs; AFAIK only the Philippines shares the US tradition of college songs.
@@edgehringer347 Many of those universities offer Music as one of their programs. It's an insult to their Music alumni to not use their talents in creating an original hymn for their school. In the case of Ateneo, it is one of the PH universities with the highest tuition fees. They could have hired a musician and even a National Artist to compose for them an original hymn. It doesn't mean if USA universities are into plagiarizing hymns, PH universities can do it too. We are not a territory of the USA and Ateneo alumni are supposed to understand that. Many of their alumni lead nationalist and anti-Western hegemony organizations.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the National Anthem of Canada.
Go canada
I'm an Atenean and now a Canadian. Sometimes I get mixed up when singing the National Anthem and A Song for Mary. :)

What is it that the crowd shouts after "Mary for you" and again after "for your white and blue"?
They chant "Go Ateneo!"
Bravo!!

Yeah bc its tune is similar to canada’s national anthem
