Good video of my hometown. I’ve lived here my entire life. My kindergarten class took the last train from the station to Ft Edward and back in 1956-7? It was closed soon after and tracks were torn up in the early 60’s. It was turned into a bike path which runs to Glens Falls about 10 miles south.
I remember as a little kid Mayor Caldwell (when it was still Town of Caldwell) was always around the village and was known for wearing six guns on his holsters. He was quite a character.
Sorry, but they are not going to build the ice castles in 23-24 winter. It will be replaced by a new winter experience that is currently under construction. I imagine information about it is online.
    Good video. Thanks for posting!

@@apollomoon1 I'll be there for two days, December 26-27. What are good nature areas to explore/trail with a beautiful view near there ?

@@jesusplol if no snow which is unlikely hike up the Prospect mountain trail that starts on Smith st i. LG Village. It’s a fairly difficult hike about 2 -3 hours up and back probably not good for a winter adventure. Most hiking trails are fair weather so come back in fall or late summer to try them would b wise. Springtime is black fly season. Id skip that to b honest.
By car take a ride up to Top of the World golf resort. It’s on Lockheart Mt rd off rt 9l on the east side of the lake about 3 miles from the village. Look for the small sign it’s a sharp right up the hill. It’s not a tourist place so not heavily advertised. The views to the north of the lake and southeast toward Vermont are spectacular.
If you want to take a little longer ride I would take a trip up I87 to exit 24 and then right (there is no left) on cty rt 11 over the mountain to rt 9n just north of Bolton Landing. The views at the crest of the mtn looking east across the lake are great. You can see several miles of the lake and Northwest Bay from up there.
Go right at the bottom into Bolton and back to LG. It’s about a hour’s drive. I’ve done it countless times and it never gets old for me at least.
In Bolton u might take a left at the light and check out the Sagamore Hotel. Park and walk around the grounds on the lakeside. It is a magnificent classic turn of the century hotel situated directly on the water.
If you go up Top of the World you can see it from there.
There’s lots of rides offering great views on the west side of the lake but most are small roads that locals use. You can’t get lost so just wander around on some side roads off Rt 9n on the way from Bolton to LG.
Hopefully there’s a couple ideas. Enjoy our beautiful area and please respect it. Have fun!

If you only go to LG Village you haven't at all explored Lake George. 99% of the fun stuff is north of the Village, which is overrun by tourists basically throughout the year.
