This is the best magnetizing and demagnetizing method on RUclips. People on here built electromagnets and drill press jigs with whirling magnets… all kinds of crazy things. You did it with a simple permanent magnet! Thank you

I just recently bought a magnetizer demagnetizer like your blue one and jeez im having a hard time demagnetizing my tool tips and drill bits. I also happen to own a dozen microwave magnets and now i feel dumb

Yeah those “demagnetizers” suck. Always leaves behind a little bit of magnetism. In precision work that’s just unacceptable.

they just re-magnetize where the new field is perpendicular to the length of the screwdriver. that's why it's still a magnet. it's weaker because the "length" is now the diameter of the screwdriver rod.
