Homestead agroforest and homestead agriculture of Bangladeshi villages are more prominent and profitable than permaculture. The practices of permaculture doesn't fit with south Asian developing countries like Bangladesh because of high production cost and less production than common practice. In permaculture has different set up based on their climate and short growing period in Western countries. Besides the soil of Delta belt of Bay of Bengal ( Bangladesh) is more fertile. If someone spread some seeds here and there it grows even without care. The tradition of growing vegetables surrounding home by Bangladeshi women are more profitable than Permaculture. But we don't have any name or terminology for highlighting our native TK ( traditional knowledge) like permaculture. Anyway, western countries like Germany appreciate some Bangladeshi Traditional knowledge for growing vegetables and take lessons from Bangladesh e.g; floating agriculture in Barishal and using Banana fibers as alternative of plastic materials
They don't have a population of 180 million in 150k sqKm, so for them it's easy to implement practices like permaculture... For us it will be a luxury and will never be practical
@@kaziislam3923 Yes, good point. You are right. I visited some small projects of permaculture. The production is not really profitable compared to cost and efforts. Only indirect benefits like mental relief and satisfaction can be considered, that is important. But for developing country like Bangladesh and India, Permaculture practice will be luxury practice
I am doing research on permaculture in Bangladesh. Rural Bangladesh, a predominantly agricultural region, faces significant environmental challenges due to rapid population growth, urbanization, and industrialization. These factors have led to deforestation, soil erosion, water pollution, and climate change impacts, affecting the livelihoods of millions of people. Additionally, unsustainable agricultural practices, such as excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, have contributed to environmental degradation and declining soil fertility. Permaculture helps in designing resilient food systems that restore soil and biodiversity and in creating sustainable water, energy, and shelter solutions.
