What happens if there's already a light fire in the fire box? Can the fire stick be thrown into the fire and door shut?

I was wondering about that too , bcs I was told that was fine by one of the FSS sellers on the phone. However, . on another video it says put the fire in the stove out with water first, then ignite the FFS and point it into the stove so the gas goes up your chimney to put out the chimney fire.

I have one of these but would like to see how to set it off in more detail - do you pull both yellow caps off and strike one against the other end? Also, can the caps be pulled off to look at the ends and then replaced back on again ready for use if needed?

What if you have an open log burner without doors?

Literally a road flare. That's all. Buy yourself a real fire extinguiser for less.

Absolutely not, it may appear outwardly like one, but the chemistry is totally different, using relatively new technology. If you were right in saying what you did, the regional fire services and police forces would not be carrying them for their own use. Incidentally, for a chimney fire, which traditional pressurised fire extinguisher would you recommend?

@@johncrabtree7709 Every situation will be different, but in case of a chimney fire, put water on the fire at the base of the stove to extinguish that. This is not sufficient to extinguish the fire in the chimney. Then place the Fire Safety Stick in the stove and its vapours will pass up and extinguish the chimney fire (again subject to the extent of the fire). The size of the Fire Safety Stick is very compact at just 27cm by 3cm.
