I am Japanese. I currently live in Japan, but I lived there for a while ten years ago. nostalgic. I often took a walk in Japan town and China town. I want to go to Marysville again someday. nice town. I love silver dollar steak sandwiches! 🇯🇵✈️🇺🇸
Thank you so much. This made me so homesick. I lived & worked here for 20 yrs before moving back to Texas 15 yrs ago. I walked where you're walking almost on the daily. My husband is Japanese & still remembers his father going to the Japanese bar in Japan town. And we always went to the Chinese & Japanese festivals there. Thank you for taking me on a walk with you & my memories. 💖💖💖💖💖
Hello, If you'd like to be able to get inside and look at the Bok Kai Temple as well as the Chinese School Meusum please let me know. I am the president of the Marysville Chinese Community and would be happy to arrange it for you.
I love Marysville. My former neighbor who was a camp fire survivor lives on D street in an old brick building. Its old! But loved visiting. We had a fall out because she thought I was a trump supporter...pluse she was always off her rocker for all the years we have known her. But I love how Marysville stands in time...
please get an inside look into the four story hotel building thats all boarded up and give its history . also the brick high school at north end of town i can find no info on its history
The Marysville Hotel, the boarded up building I think you are speaking of has a sign on the side saying some sort of progress on restoration is being pursued! And as for the high school I'm pretty sure it's. Just a school. Beautiful old school!
The brick school is now the school district office. It was at 1 time Marysville high school. Which my father attended in the early 60's he graduated in 1962.
@@FindingNorcal yeah it is...the brick work at Marysville High School was done by Skilled trade workers it's stunning! I've been driving past it all my life on my Journeys...it's gorgeous! Eric Underwood Class of 81 Downey High school Downey California ✌️
Really enjoyed this Historical Trip! I lived in Marysville, Ohio for many years which is home to The Honda Car and Truck Plant and Scotts Fertilizer Plant! Your Marysville is way Cooler😆! I'm one of those knucklehead who would stop and read EVERY DAMN PLAQUE as people are telling me to get out of the way 🤣and I would also love to stand and look over the Murals! LOVED that you took the time April to drive around a bit and record the Styles and Colors of the homes and Buildings too! Old and Ancient to be sure for some...but they are STILL Majestic to see! The history that "they have seen and witnessed" is mind-boggling for this knuckleheads' 4 working brain cells to digest! 😉 Cheers From COW-lumbus and Stay Dry! MOO
Marysville is my favorite places to go and visit if you have the chance check out the. Brick coffeehouse also. Sissey s attic antique shop both places are. On d street
No its not. Thank you for saying nice things about it but I you don't live here you know nothing of how this town really is. I was raised here and I still live here to this day. It's overrun with hobos and tweaker. Ellis lake is nasty and it's full of duck poop, Trash, and dead bodies
April, fantastic job, I've driven through that area many times and you opened my eyes to what I've missed by not paying attention. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. It was great meeting you and Heath today out at the races, looking forward to that video as well.
I live in Smartsville and have always thought that marysville was pretty, we have been there where you filmed several times, I also enjoy thai food in marysville
The Abandoned Marysville Hotel just got gutted by fire night before last... sorry.. My Dad was honorably discharged July 4th 1945 Camp Beale...he said Marysville was a hopping little town. Born in Anaheim in 1918 he retired in Oroville.
Very nice, but you've only scratched the surface, I've lived there for over sixty years, so much history there. It was my " American graffiti" town as I was growing up, the stories!!
Old Marysville is charming. But it hasn't always been so. I remember that part of town being pretty rundown with cathouses. Lower D street was often the butt of jokes when I was in high school in the 70s. And many residents will agree that many bad decisions were made regarding the historic district. Just cattycorner from the Silver Dollar Saloon is a building owned by Habitat for Humanity called the 'ReStore.' That was once a Mervyns store. They tore down some classic original buildings to make room for that store back in the 70s. As I heard it, one of them was a hotel that President Ulysses S. Grant slept in.
@@FindingNorcal I have wondered that the first time I went old Sacramento. Marysville was the REAL gateway to the gold fields. The only explanation that I can think of is the powers in charge (money) didn't want it to happen. Not everyone wants to live near a tourist area. Marysville is surrounded by the rivers and farms. Not a big area. Sadly they destroyed the Chinese area by building a store and large parking area. It also burned and flooded destroying the old wooden structures.
@@cynthiamckenzie1034 yes it truly was the gateway and the last stop for supplies and the closest assay office, well maybe Oroville too. Anyway thanks for watching and leaving comments!
The reason Sacramento took off instead of Marysville was because the hydraulic mining filled the rivers with sand and they could no longer get the big ferries up the river.
Lived in sac for a few years, moved to SoCal high desert. 🏜️ we’re hating it . Looking to move back to NorCal, if not back to Sacramento then Yuba city and surrounding areas
If I were you I would move to Sacramento. Not yuba , I been living in yuba/Marysville my entire life and I cam confidentiality say no one should or want to move here
I moved from Marysville/Yuba City to Auburn in Placer County 14 years ago and haven't looked back. If you're looking for that cozy small town atmosphere without the ... societal problems, we've got plenty of room here. Normally the worst you have to worry about is bears and mountain lions coming up from the nearby American River canyon, and even sightings of them are rare. We're also in the foothills so the summers are a little more tolerable.

Awe happy to have brought you memories ✌️🙂
Moved to Marysville from Fresno right after the flood in Linda, in 86. Been living here since.
I remember that flood...it used to flood quite often in the 60s and 70s Hwy 70 underwater in some parts...
I love historic downtown Marysville.
Thanks 🙏

Hey Jeff! Thanks!
What a cute place.
California gold rush boomtown! Marysville was where they got their supplies before heading up to the hills to prospect for gold! 💥
Awesome video! I go fishing right over that levee, and i agree its a really beautiful area with a lot of history.
Wow, the water is so high!
That red for sale building used to be Eddie's Pool Hall in 1980's!

D street hooker jokes were popular back in the '50's too when my dad was at Marysville High School.
I always heard that was the Marysville Hotel that recently got gutted by a fire.
What? is it Sunday at 10am?
Sadly most of the historic buildings have been demolished 😢
Many still remain I wish they would save it and make it something like old Sacramento is boost the economy there a bit!
