The Cold Steel G-10 Espada, large size, features a 5.5 inch AUS-8 blade, clip point, bead blast finish, high hollow grind, Tri-AD Lock, and G-10 handle scales with liners. Price around $110.
That is my FAVORITE folding knife for Survival use, etc ! 🔪
Agreed. The Espada large just feel right, the Combat Magnum of folding knives.
Great presentation. For the price, this seems like a great knife. I own maybe 40 knives- mostly folders ranging from Chris Reeve, Reate, Spyderco, Kershaw, Cold Steel etc. I carry a knife in my pocket for EDC type tasks. The last thing I want to be dong is getting into any knife fights. But living in a County where getting CC license is impossible, I do like the idea of having this on me as an extreme last ditch self defense option. Of course I always carry pepper spray as well. I think I will be buying this exact knife- I've had my eye on it for a while now. I do own a serrated Cold Steel Black Talon 2 and that thing is just wicked-- great self defense slasher-- slash and RUN. But this Large Espada has a long reach and seems like great SD option as well. Someday maybe they'll pass Constitutional carry laws-- until then--- pepper spray, a knife, and running shoes.
Thanks, my friend. Espadas are what I always recommend when people want a strong "tac" folder, all three sizes are good, too.
@CrotalusKid1 - I agree! Stonewash. Or satin. Or black. Light gray is no one's favorite color lol.
I had to pay $339NZ for my XL, but buying locally did save the hassle of getting it through Customs. It might be the last knife I buy for a long time though. A blade this large that will push cut paper? Say what you like about his videos but Lynn Thompson knows how to make a knife.
I would go ahead and get the Espada, it's solid. I do plan to get the Talwar XL when it comes out though.
This is indeed a serious tool, the AUS10A & G10 are just great too, I think I would definitely prefer this over the S35 anyway for utilitarian purposes.
Great review, Sensei Israel. Love the "chopped finger - stray dog" part. Got my hand on one of the "fancy" version. Love it! Really need to hold one in hand to appreciate what a deadly beauty this is. The balance of the blade is just superb. Planning to get this "tactical" G-10 version once my wallet recover a bit...
This knife design is excellent. While slashing, you might "only" have 5.5 inches but when you are thrusting, the handle design will give you like 2 additional inches. This is in par with a Kabar.
You have been putting so many vids out your collection must be huge by now--love it.
I have two polished EL Espadas and they are great.
Thanks for reviewing this knife, I had planed to get it soon, this makes me want it even more.
Well, it can chop, slash, slice, and pierce ... if that doesn't work.
@Sharpbevel - Hmm, it will not stop for a while, because Cold Steel and Ka-Bar/Becker are coming out with a lot of good new stuff for 2012. I like the Spearpoint Recon1, Counter Point I folder, and the 6 inch Holdout I folder ...
Thanks, I'm glad it is working for you, too!
The Large G-10 Espada... It's a GREAT knife! I especially like the G-10 model. Black handle, non reflective stone wash blade. Hefty and strong fitting perfectly in my hand... I like it best out of all my folders. That Navaja style triggered my Spaniard gene lol! GREAT REVIEW TOO btw bro!!!
@SnakeStrike77 - Hey welcome back! Lots of good 4 inch blades to choose from ...
I love that bead blast look! I have the stonewash, but don’t care for the look of it too much. Let me know if you’re ever interested in selling this one or a trade! Thanks brother
Finally, you bought a Large Espada - Cold Steel, you must be smiling now he he. This is a very nice blade.
This blade needs TLC if you will keep the rust away.
Great video buddy, take care - nice!
Excellent ...
Hey Buddy, I am going to buy a pocket folder for purely defensive use in the near future as I live under a jurisdiction where it is a real hassle to be issued a CC firearm license, so if you have time to read/respond I'd like an opinion on my options. So far, I am considering the Emerson Super CQC-8, the CRKT Otanashi noh Ken, the Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn folder, and this Espada. I already have a Hissatsu folder that I really like, and I'm quite a big guy so pocket concealment is never an issue.
I would choose this or the No Ken, or both. The Spyderco Police and Civilian are good too, depending on what art you are using.
Been dying to get one of these. Tough on a retired income. I like this one better than the
X-Large. I think the X-Large is just too big for EDC. But this one is doable just like the Voyager X-Large with the 5.4 blade. You are right the Espada G10 series is little tougher than the Voyager series. I do like the wave feature. I miss it on the Voyager. I think Cold Steel makes some of the best products for their price.
wow amazing blade, wish it was still as thick as the normal one was, looks like christmas came early for you, great videos.
What's more, since I'm a bit of a collector, I'll be getting the fancier XL version. One of the best looking folder I've seen.
a@nestornegron - This is true. A lot of people are afraid to use the palm-supported grip or don't know how, but I'm not and I know!
yeah man this has huge intimidation factor.. forget psychology fight or flight it's just RUNN haha
I really like the look of the g10 version
@AxleKlown - That is the kind of dedication I admire!
yes! win! i love this knife! if i could carry and folder with out blade length restriction i would carry this one.. i used to carry the rajah 2 around.. what was i thinking! lol! the espada..a folding sword indeed!
Awesome! I'm glad it helped
I haven't gotten my large Espada, but upon further thinking I'm going to get the same version you did (G10) - there's no real need to get the fancier version.
Dear God!
Israel Ive never gotten a large folder of more then 5 ins before so I'm contemplating on this G10 Espada or the new Talwar Xl , Both blades have very similiar dimensions ie : Espada is 8.2oz, 12 1/4 ins, Hollow Ground, $210....The Talwar is 8.4oz, 13 1/2ins, Flat Grind, $185.....Should i get the Esp Lg or should i wait for the Talwar XL ? Price difference is not too great ...Can you give me some pointers as both blades seem equally great ! Only difference is the Talwar has a thicker tip !Thanks
Great review bro glad to see the big folders getting air time.. i should be able to pick up a few more knives next year and believe me this will be the first one..lol
I love the Espada Large and have a G10 model in AUS10a but would love to own the AUS8a version with that blade finish also.
This is one cool knife, I want one since I saw Nutnfancy's review.
I agree with you you have to be really careful how you use a knife that big and sharp, even for EDC work, you could easily chop your own leg by accident if you dont cut away from you or lose grip of the knife or whatever.
Just as deadly for yourself as it is for your attacker in self defense lol.
Israel, the more videos I watch from u the more money I'm spending. In the last week I bought the voyager lg $ xl and now this. When does the madness stop? :)
What about the Luzon ,it has a 6" blade with a liner lock that has a safety lock-bar and can be gotten for under $55.oo almost all the time & the blade is made of 8Cr13MoV steel with a clip point tip bowie blade style.

i have the whole collection of the espada series medium large and extra large i have carried them all despite the knife laws they wont get u in trouble if you are discreet on how much u use the larger ones i think these knives are best for the size and use's they are god for be it defense or everyday tasks the xl is best carried in the waist ban of my pants large one i keep on my left side i carry the medium on my right side with my flashlight
@WeAllJuggleKnives to the point of the finish of the blade i sanded mine to close to mirror finish with 1500 and 2000 grit sand paper i had both pocket clips on mine in case i need to switch sides while carrying them i wish all 3 came with the thumb plate opener i dig the fact all u gotta do is draw the knife properly to have it open and ready to rock and roll love the knife reviews u go in depth enough on them that i want most of the ones u show i ordered the street scalpel
very nice. I have the fancier one, just cz this one wasn't available at the time lol. I'm glad I have that one though, although this one looks wicked as well
I have 1 too, crazy enough to get the xlarge and make my mom gasp just for seeing it xD
That would eventually make all the lock components loose.
Can this knife be used for batoning? Not like it should be. Just wondering.
Excellent
@pillemannen - When I get the XL, you will know that the end is near!
@chipperutza - only 10 days to go!
@fearzbeazt555 - Lol cool, I have not decided if I should get the XL yet ...
Sick blade. Love it.
@paintball626 - Someone closed his accounts. But I believe they can restore them.
Beautiful curve in that paper.
The other espada is polished aluminum and it goes for just under $300
I agree this really needs to be treated like a gun would - very dangerous blade, which I'll be getting soon.
@SyrianKnight01 - Excellent sword for a knight!
Which is better between the g10 espada large and the regular espada large?
The G10 gives better grip, so I like the G10 model.
the names should be..
Cold Steel Standard (Medium)
Cold Steel Extra Large (Large)
Cold Steel Jumbo (XL)
I use that camping all the time, replaces my fixed blade cause it is so freakin huge xD
sick blade
the one with polished bolsters is discontinued
what happened to cutlerylover's channel?
I gave $126.oo for 0ne 😞 but hey its Corona Virus price time so what is a brother to do and i hope my knives are AUS-10 steel. 😎🔥🔥
That's the spirit! Not only is the world ending, but they're sending out some free money to everyone, sounds like a good reason to knock off some knives from the bucket list :D
126 bucks is a great price for the AUS 10 version. I paid 140 Euros here in Germany in corona time and that was the best price available up to today. I recommend the G10 XL version as well to you !
i wish they had done a stonewash on the blade, instead of the bead blast, if i get one ill have to send it to tuffthumbz to stonewash it
Some years later and they heard what you said about stonewashed finish...
Another nice review. Thanks!
@WeAllJuggleKnives black would look awesome! hmmm XL espada with black blade, and red hardware. >:) got a new project to work on
should i get this or the talwar in the same size?
+pptx100 Get this, the Talwar has more of a curve, which can be more difficult to employ.
Thanks lol
The Voyager has metal liners and that version Espada doesn’t look like it has metal liners. I’d bet the XL Voyager has a stronger frame because it’s metal. The more expensive fancier Espada has metal liners too. I have both large Espada and XL Voyager. I wouldn’t by an Espada if it didn’t have metal liners.
Yeah strength is definitely an important quality, I picked up a Kris Voyager earlier this year.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives After a closer look at the Espada knives, I see the expensive model actually has a full aluminum frame with parts, like the bolsters, exposed and polished. The less expensive models with the full G10 scales have partial metal liners for strength. I was glad to see that the less expensive models have partial liners for strength. The Voyager XL is the same size as the large Espada but has full frame metal liners and it’s way less expensive.
@@jonnyboat2 It is, however, not in counter strike
excellent review! thx!
Oh yeah,, definitely a cool edc .
Remember when $110 was considered pricey for a knife? It’s pretty impressive the price hasn’t gone up in almost a decade.
Yes indeed. Nowadays, the most expensive multitools are around $110 (Leatherman Surge), but for a folding knife that is now not considered expensive.
Great... Now youv made me buy another knife.. Haha, Thanks! :)
Well you still have 9 fingers left. 9 fingers FTW!
I review on the espada G10 xl would be great!!
ebay australia $195 .get one while you still can
lol these aren’t cheap. I know this videos 8 yrs old. They now made the 4th edition with aus10A steel at 225$ for the base model. It’s become an iconic blade and no other knife maker has anything close to this knife: I believe the xl version of this is almost impractical and novel but the large is thee best tactical fighting knife available. Perfect size. I teach Pekiti Tirsia Kali. Look it up. We know edges weapons. :) this knife is legit!
Expensive? no not really. Probably the very best blade money can buy for self defense below $200. I see people buying Emerson's for double the price of this blade and getting a less capable knife than this blade. The tri-ad lock makes these blades the strongest folders in the world... bar none... at ANY price. This blade for $110-120 .... its impossible to beat it .... period.
oh I forget... best blade you can buy for under $200.... except of course the Espada XL that is the worlds most wicked folding knife .... there really is no competitor. And I just picked up my second one for less that $150. Wow. What a freaking deal. Cold Steel rules.
@@brianminkc Your absolutely correct & I Couldn't agree with you more about both Large & Extra Large Espada Folders
@@brianminkc 🙂✌️👍👍
Nothing to play around with, it no joke.
Even at Aus 8 steel that thing is a power house. I don't even know why they make a medium just use edc knives like recon our the lawman this large espada is truly for self defense and probably saving some one's life the other guy better be carrying a sword.
Australia for ya.
this knive induces F.E.A.R
Fuck Everything And Run
sick knife but looks like its mostly for show and intimidation
I used My knife on à back packning tripp and no rust and made me smile everytime i wiped it out
damn blade broke on me when I was doing some cut tests, know how I can get another blade? customer service has not contacted me back yet
@SuperOatmealbear - Lol
In certain circumstances deploying that knife could prevent a fight. One look at that nasty blade and an aggressor may think twice and back away.
@WeAllJuggleKnives +1 on that!
Maybe not... Its $500 for me. :(
Funfact: Espada actually does mean sword.
Got my Espada large today. second time I folded it... I cut my finger
No cs go guys here? :c
