Combination of factors. But you had a global lockdown where billions of people spent more time indoors. At the same time India and to a lesser extent China have grown increasingly connected to the internet and their enormous populations pump those numbers up.
And you also have algorithms and youtube shorts incentivising as much watch time as possible.

I was a 1988 kid. I can remember well when the internet first came into people's lives, how it rose and diversified into as many websites as it has. I've seen the internet crown pass from site to site, company to company, and let me tell you, it's been a Hell of a ride through all these decades of it 😊

Funny how it took from 1993 until 2020 so 27 years for Yahoo to be pushed out of the top 10, and it’s still 10th then if you discount the Chinese Baidu thing or 9th still even then if you discount whatever asterisk videos is
