    There are a couple of nuances that Sean does so beautifully . Those melodically chromatic runs up and down the low E and those little fills he throws in sparingly to accent the end of the measure . Complimenting and syconpating his bass lines to the drum fills . That's what I mean when I tell friends about taste .

    Sean, You the one who I listen to! I'm of a past gen of bass players, I did the USO show's with Bob Hope in Nam. I never changed from using my old P bass also. Don't think you have time to answer, but God's speed brother...

    Perhaps the guys who criticise Hurley can let us know what records they've played on, so we can compare.

      Anyone is allowed to criticize whoever they want. It does not matter what the critic has achieved because he or she is not responsible for that which they criticize. It also does not matter how much the person that is criticized has achieved because no one is perfect, and everyone can improve. Imagine the claim that no one is allowed to criticize the president because no such critic would have been a president themselves. See how nonsensical that is?

    • @chomusic
      @chomusic 3 года назад +7

      @@Dinozzo1995 yes of course anybody can be a critic. It's very easy. We don't have to respect them for it though, when they demonstrate they don't know what they're talking about.

    I agree with you. Its very important for the bass and drums to be able to connect to each other. a good bassist always responds to the kick and always try to be in sync with the drummer

    kind of sounds like a polished version of my playing... I've maybe done 50 -75 bass tracks now.. but always searching for that perfect bass line.. I've only recently discovered Sean thru a Fender bass demo and I can honestly say that I prefer his playing over Pino's, even though they may have a similar tone. Well I bought the fender American pro p bass after seeing Sean's demo.. (antique olive) love it!

    I have a 69 Fender Precision w/Jazz Neck at the time custom color, Ocean Turqoise, block inlay on rosewood neck/bought at the music store I worked for in 1969. 2024 and Fender Custom Shop says "Sorry we won't touch it because you don't have a receipt"; although I do have owners manual with name of "E Paxton", only Custom Shop in Colorado is HB Woodsong, Boulder. I thought Fender had control of their channel. I believe Woodsong is telling Fender that no receipt, no work. Moving away from Fender. If they would do this to a Senior, think what they'll do to YOU. Buyer Beware.

    So many bassists do that trill back and forth slide thing at the end of a lick at the upper register. Bugs me for some reason. I used to do it and it took a while to get out of the habit.

    • @uubuuh
      @uubuuh 7 лет назад +7

      Interesting yes. On the one hand it is one of he most natural expressive gestures intrinsic to the fretted bass. On the other hand it can become idiosyncratic, like saying "you know" at the end of spoken phrases. You've given me the idea to make sure I can "quit anytime", because I do it sometimes without much intention or discipline.
