Thanks so much for making your video. Unfortunately, I’ve had a host of problems with Peakto such that I asked them for my money back. There are so many issues with it but I’ll just list a few. For of all, I downloaded it and ran the installer and it “installed” it in the Downloads folder. That is just not acceptable. Why did they design it that way. On the same point, I could not find an uninstaller. That really pissed me off. One would think there would be an icon in Apps. Nope. I had to remove it the hard way. I reinstalled it in a specific folder and created a test library. For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out how to run facial recognition. The File options list like 3 or 4 things all seeming to relate to doing facial recognition. I finally got it to work pretty well but it took hours. There pdf help file is not robust enough. Overall, there are a lot of nice features but the program needs a ton of work in several areas in order to make it clean, intuitive and truly useful.
Andy, here's hoping you do more videos on Peakto. I just discovered it and it is amazing but I appreciate that it is a work in process. Looking forward to the Faces feature and cataloging videos too. Would like to see your videos show how you use Peakto to do real work and solve issues, like how do you find duplicates? I subscribed and liked.
It's great isn't it! I don't understand why it hasn't gained more traction. Possibly because it has no editing tools there's less interest? But for sure I'll do more content - I have one planned for workflow using DxO. :)
One problem with Peakto is that their promotion and tutorial videos are explained by a guy with a heavy French accent and he is hard for an English speaker to understand. I turned on RUclips subtitles and even RUclips had trouble translating what we was saying into English!@@Andyhutchinson
I downloaded it a while back with the intention of reviewing it, but never got round to it. That was some time ago though and it might be worth getting the latest trial version and seeing how good it is these days. :).
I have a similar problem 😂 Lightroom, DXO PhotoLab, CaptureOne but luckily i store all my photo’s on the same location on external drives all my catalogs points to the same raw photo. The only thing a have to do is periodically sync the catalogs to add the created Tiffs. But the concept of peakto is promising! I shall certainly look at it. Thanks!
@@Andyhutchinson Indeed. Took me a long time to get it right. Peakto is now busy to super cataloging al my data… I’m looking forward to the AI metadata…
No worries. Do download the trial version before committing to a purchase though, because (and this might just be unique to me) I've had a mixed experience with more recent versions with it refusing to update its catalog and AI data.
Great review, thanks. I think I am going to give it a try.
Let me know how you go. :)

I have noticed issues with more recent versions of this app, which is why I've held off reviewing version 2.0.

@@youtubedavidprice well - I know they read the comments on this channel, so maybe they'll look at doing some revised tutorial content :)
I would love to give it a try but unfortunately I have a PC. Any suggestions?
Hi Andy, thanks for this video. Tried to search Mylio in your channel, have you done any review on that or will you?

@@Andyhutchinson Thanks mate! Hope to have your inputs soon

Cheers Ron - sounds a bit easier to manage than my sprawling empire of external and networked drives. :)

This was great. I’ve been so frustrated with Apple Photos for organizing my collection.

@@Andyhutchinson thank you.
I own Avalanche unlimited. Is this the same thing in functionality ?
You sold me. I bought it. Better than Excire foto.
It's my go-to now. Just added all my network folders as well, which is awesome.
