What a match!! I still can't believe we won. After India's pathetic batting I thought we are going to lose this one by 10 wickets. I think India were a bit too aggressive while batting and played some bad shots. They could have easily scored 150 with 82/3 midway. My heart was in my mouth 🙈
Had they not been aggressive, they wouldn't be 82 after 10 overs so in hindsight the fact that they played with intent was the reason India won.
exactly, jadeja literally gave his wicket, not too mention we played only 19 overs, Big shots were not necessary, we should've made 140-50, We should've taken one or twos and made it, the ground is made for running between the wickets

It was a tricky pitch. All the batsmen from both side struggled except 2 or 3.
Pakistan is probably the most likely team to snatch defeat from victory. They've done it time and time again.

God, I feel for Pakistan. India struggled and Pant rode his luck. You'd have bet on any decent team getting 120. But while India bowled well, Pakistan truly botched the chase. Perhaps, like England, this is the end of the line for a team that's not really changed in a couple of years. It's sad to see. But they just didn't deserve it in the end.
Demerits for India:
1. Lost the toss.
2. Wet outfield during India’s batting.
3. No sun in the first inning, causing the ball to swing.
4. Ball spun better in the first inning.
5. India’s batting order collapsed.
6. Psychological setback: difficult to defend a match, especially a low-scoring one, for bowlers and the captain.
Kudrat ka Nizam:
1. Won the toss.
2. Cloudy and rainy weather supported fast bowlers.
3. Pitch favored fast bowlers, aligning with Pakistan’s self-proclaimed status as having the most dangerous bowling lineup in the world.
4. Sun came out in the second inning - no swing.
5. Ball was coming to the bat easily during the second inning.
6. Psychological benefit: Pakistan had the lowest score to chase in an India vs. Pakistan match, thanks to the adverse conditions India faced in the first inning.
7. Easier for Babar to captain in the first inning.
Conclusion: Pakistan fans are still consoling themselves on social media, claiming that India didn’t beat Pakistan; Pakistan beat itself. Time and again, no matter what, Pakistan always tries to take all the credit, even when losing. According to them, Pakistan can’t be defeated by anyone unless they make mistakes on purpose or choose to lose. In other words, they consider themselves invincible: “logo ko koi nahi hara sakta agar yeh khud nahi chahe to…”

Cricinfo win predictor was at 98% or 99% for Pakistan with maybe 6 to 7 overs to go. lol.. what an unbelievable game. I would've bet my house that Pakistan was gonna complete the run chase by the 18th over. lol
We asked Cricviz throughout the game why the predictor was so heavily in Pakistan's favour, and their response was always "Pakistan only need a run a ball" - which was hard to argue with

Pak wasted the power play, they should have promoted Fakhar up to get them off to a flier. Going at 6 an over in the power play when you need 6 an over is a waste.

Pakistan has the mental blockage against India just like we had against them in the 90s. Difference is - India had Tendulkar in the 90s and he would win few matches just on his own to give the rivalry some respectability. I don't see anyone in current Pakistan team to be able to do that and hence the one sided contest in favour of India across the formats. Leave aside Bumrah, Kohli and Rohit- there isn't much of a skill difference.

Pls comment on the role of the pitch esp during the 1st half, in India's collapse...such pitches are not good for cricket in general and particularly teams that rely on their batting strengths to win matches
Teams need to be strong in batting, bowling, and fielding. Not just batting
@@FinalWordCricket ideally, yes...but then ideally speaking even pitches need to play even consistently to have a balanced contest between bat and ball...yet we have pitches that are batting tracks, greentops, turning tops...
also, every team, even the best, has its strengths and weaknesses... very few teams in history have been evenly balanced...
I might sound small time, but this match is all I care about in cricket. We can lose semis/ finals to whoever but not them 😂

The World Cup record is so strangely one-sided
Imad wasim and iftakher ahmed just showed zero intent. It was odd. Didnt try and charge or back away or do anything different. Naseem got some quick runs showing intent. Rauf and Afridi can slog. They didnt even get a chance.
That was certainly frustrating and I think a lot of people felt the same way
That Rizwan shot against Bumrah was worst shot selection ever, gave me real hope & we converted after that.

Very very poor batting by Indians today. It is astonishing to note that none of the batters except Pant could apply themselves on a comparatively better pitch to build up a good total. Axar Patel contributed a bit riding on luck. Surya kumar Yadav - he doesn't seem to have the technique to play on a difficult pitch. Shivam failed not only with bat but dropped a catch too. Hardik was forced to choke as the situation prevented him from taking risky shots but he compensated with bowling. The Pakistan bowling was not at all deadly, but Indians threw their wickets to play glory shots which brings glamour to them. Being such highly rated professionals, we fail to understand as to why the Indian players try to play like IPL. The conditions and environment here are totally different. Indian players are knowledgeable and experienced enough to sort out the problems and hope that they will rectify themselves accordingly soon. Virat Kohli, such a big name around the globe, failed on similar shots twice and that too in an important match like this. India may have to pay the price if Virat doesn't return to form as it will be difficult to replace Virat by the mangement despite if his poor form / application continues. Virat is quite dedicated and self rectifying, so we think he will try and get his problems sorted out at the earliest.
Now about India's win. India bowled excellently and played very cohesively as a team, particularly after Rizwan got out and maintained that spirit and team effort till the end of the match. But one can't deny that Pakistan let the chance slip from their grip. The point where Rizwan got out, there was no reason for trying to play again a glory shot of Bumrah. Man you have ample balls and wickets left, plan accordingly and play a safe game. No need to glamourise yourself, this is not IPL or PSL.
Anyways, hearty congratulations to team India for this historic win and special kudos to Rohit Sharma, who performed top notch as captain (as he does almost always) despite miserably failing with bat. Team India saved our day by collective effort in bowling and fielding.
Next match against USA is going to be tough.
Will watch India's performance with high hopes.

India isn’t going to advance much further - T20 is where you give young talent a chance. Not duds like Shivam Dube. Not 30+ players like Rohit, Virat, Jadeja, Chahal. There is no meritocracy in selection, lest you would see many players who participated in the IPL finals here. What have Khaleel and Avesh done to be a part of the reserves? This is why India never wins ICC events.

It was a complete choke fest
India didnt choke, when India batted the skies were overcast and there was rain stopping play twice. Their score was decent considering the best score on this pitch was around 130. When Pakistan batted it was sunny and the conditions were better for batting.
India choked for sure, no condition can hide the facts that doobey sky jadeja are useless in this team, jaiswal should open , kuldeep in place of Jadeja, Rinku or Samson in place of sky
