Native people were crying "we want self-government, we want the right to control our destiny". That was almost 30 years ago. So how is that going for you?
I suggest you get educated on this topic before talking. You must be really annoying to be around. Most Indigenous people in the country and the nation view self-government as a means of protecting their culture and gaining more control over their territory, resources, and the implementation of policies that have an impact on their daily life. Canadians are near completely ignorant of human rights and equality rights and everything else in the Canadian Constitution because a population that is aware of its own Constitution, Charter of Rights and Freedoms will begin to see inequality everywhere in Canada because inequality and discrimination IS everywhere in Canada. If you want accountability you have to educate Canadians on the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and show them how Canada's highest law is directly connected to the individual Canadian citizen. The Constitution is Canada's Supreme Law which all other laws in created in all Canadian Provinces and Territories, Cities and Towns, Villages and Hamlets, must be consistent with the Canadian Constitution. Anything less than consistent is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. This means every Canadian citizen is directly and most intimately connected to Canada's highest law. It is part of the Canadian identity. It is what makes us all uniquely linked to one another on a common ground, Section 15, Equality Rights. A Canadian citizen that is aware of the protected characteristics of the Human Rights Law or Code is a person that is empowered with Canada's highest law. Therefore, there should be no inequality in Canada. There should be no "getting there". Canada is not a work in progress in these regards. (84) Therefore, Canada has already arrived! When people become aware they have the highest and most supreme law part of their identity, their spirit of life as it is expressed in their personhood, only then will you see the end of inequality, discrimination, marginalization. People must first become keenly aware through processed understanding, without any question or doubt of their Constitutional Rights. Only then will you see accountability because people will be encouraged with knowledge and understanding of their human dignity, they will stop anyone from ever attempting to violate their human rights, their charter rights, their connection to the Canadian Constitution, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. No Canadian can ever say their rights are not equal to another person's rights because Section 15, Equality Rights ensures 15. (1) Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability. I heard that the gov gets the plant then won't fund them. Makes me angry!!! You should see about Go Fund Me. That would be something I would help fund.
Michael ... Because they want to keep their culture!!!!! There is nothing wrong with that. Its what makes Canada what it is today. God you are so ignorant! The water is contaminated because of the Government and should be fixed! These people take care of the land, environment and would fight to keep the Gov from destroying the country!
@@anniefitzsimmons4003 The water is contaminated because of naturally-occurring bacteria and parasites that naturally exist in all freshwater. White people did not invent bacteria. Raw, unfiltered lake and pond water is NEVER safe to drink, and that has nothing to do with colonization, that has to do with the discovery of this thing called GERM THEORY back in the early 1900s (by Europeans by the way). Prior to that both Aboriginals and Europeans were ignorant of the fact that unfiltered water is inherently dangerous because of the microorganisms that swim in it, and this is part of the reason life expectancy used to be so low historically.
@@anniefitzsimmons4003 The idea that unfiltered pond and lake water is only unsafe to drink because of colonization is an anti-scientific, anti-white myth that I'm sad to still see being indoctrinated into young aboriginal people today. You can go to any remote lake or pond in Canada where no white person has ever even set foot and the water will still not be safe by modern standards because NO unfiltered water is safe to drink by modern standards. That's not because of POLLUTION, that's because of BIOLOGY.
White people did not come along and make your water unsafe to drink. White people came along, discovered germ theory, realized that all unfiltered water is actually unsafe to drink, and thought we'd warn you about that fact. And for our trouble, WE get blamed for making the water unsafe just because we made the scientific discovery that it was actually unsafe all along...
Very bad
Well my mom works for the government and they HAVE BEEN OFFERED GRANTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!! But they have never accepted! They probably just think it should be fixed for them and they don’t need to do anything!! Which makes me so mad! They can pay for documentaries and people to record them to say “please help up this is horrible” but don’t try to get it fixed! If they want something done they can try to do it themselves! We don’t sit here like “I’m not going to go to interviews! They can hire me first!” And whine when we don’t get a job! But you can’t blame them because it’s “racist” like wtf!?
Well, your mother is a liar and is raising a liar, they have been offered multiple times, yet the government still manipulates them. So either your mother is also being manipulated by the government or your mother is also a manipulator.
Lmao. They didn't PAY for this interview. The creators of this channel visited a reserve and asked for input on the water system there. They have tied to get this fixed. They even have power plants now. So what's the problem? Well unlike everywhere else in Canada the government is using the fact that the indigenous people are self-governed to NOT fund those same power plants. Consuming biased media is bad for your health. I don't think you are stupid or an absolute idiot. Just uneducated. Your mom obviously either doesn't work for the government or you just love lying. If you did an ounce of research you would know that the indigenous were forced onto reserves because the government was using food as a weapon. Let us not forget to mention You said "We don’t sit here like “I’m not going to go to interviews! They can hire me first!” And whine when we don’t get a job!" That IS racism. You are generalizing and stereotyping a whole community. That's like me saying since your mom works for the government she's a racist, sexist, piece of shit liar. I could say that yet I do not. Many, many indigenous peoples do in fact have new-world jobs but it is way harder for them to do so based on SYSTEMIC RACISM.
(Here is a quick definition and explanation on this topic ruclips.net/video/YrHIQIO_bdQ/видео.html) I know that is for black racism in America but it also applies to the racism and segregation that Native Canadians faced/face.
AGAIN I will remind you, I do not think you are stupid or racist. Just uneducated. PLEASE do more research on a topic before forming an opinion of what one person (your mom) has said.
Exactly.
Its impossible for me to feel anyhing but disgust for them. We fly to Pikagikum Ontario REGULARLY to save dogs from these people. I wish you could all see what they do do dogs and cats. You can find a few articles on google. Its BEYOND horrific.
They actually do get their water fixed and treated but fail to maintain it because they're lazy (Pikagikum)
how come i'm still alive if i drink bad water- oh i live in manitoba i feel bad for you
i can not express how little i care do schools really think we care about this?
@Ayanna Richards i dont care
@Ayanna Richards hey guess what i still dont give a fuck stfu.
I agree! They have been offered grants to get it fixed but didn’t accept! They don’t pay taxes! And they whine about it even though they have been offered to have it fixed!
@@MagmaKami We also don't care so keep it to yourself. Imagine not having clean water. forget about yourself. what about your family? Be grateful you grew up with clean water.
what the hell is wrong with you..?
