The quick changes were a little jarring, especially when you didn't play the whole song. Other than that, amazing stuff! I especially loved your segway from Mother's 8 melodies into Mother 2's sound stones.
I have to say that the pieces you did best were: Winters (or Snowman): is the most calm and soft song in the game, has a great beauty. Smiles and Tears and the three songs that follow: Because you can remember Earthbound just by hearing those beautiful songs. I can see where you get the impression of that through the title. However there are several pieces in here that definitely aren't found in in the original mother. The most prominent is the love theme which was specifically made for mother 3.

Yeah, Mother 1 was kind of like, where do I go, I'm so, so very lost. Plus getting a new character (Loid) at level 1 when Ninten was up to 30 on my first playthrough was the worst. Just kept dying and I had to just keep trying to get through Duncan Factory HOPING I'd be able to kill everything before he got hit. In hindsight I'm retarded though. >>

If you look at the lyrics of the song that plays in Queen Maria's castle in Mother 1 it has a great line that sets up the theme of each game "Show me the wisdom of the world, tell me the secrets of the heart, and the sweet mysteries of love" Secrets of the heart = The 8 melodies of Mother Wisdom of the world = The 8 melodies Earthbound/Mother2 Sweet mysteries of love = The experiences the Lucas and his family go through in Mother3. Just my take on it, a precursor the the sequel's plots IMO.
