    c64 sure did leave a mark on a lot of us ... 40 plus years later, people still remember Hunchback I and Hunchback II

    Wow looks really impressive. Brilliant style for the c64 palette. The spinning blades looks incredible.
    Looking forward to trying this.
    Great video - subbed to the channel. Its always great to find a quality channel that does not use the idiotic fake RUclips accent with emphasis in all the wrong places.
    Rose Tinted Spectrum is the retro channel i would strongly recommend for videos on classics.
    Ill definitely be watching all your stuff, delighted this was reccod to me!

    Niiiiice. Looks great. Amazing how much people still squeeze out of the C64. I remember Hunchback but this looks way better. Will keep it on my radar. Keep up the good work.

    Looks like a lovely game. Sometimes, however, I wish for those game creators to collaborate with the likes of Fairlight in order to create something that coes close to the audiovisual marvels of the latest demos.

    Why is there no monthly round up anymore? Not enough games released? Miss it.

    • @RetroGamerNation
      @RetroGamerNation  4 месяца назад +4

      The C64 Round Up series will be continuing but not as a monthly release. I think we have already reached peak saturation point in interest of new C64 releases and the market now appears to be in a slow decline. I simply have not been able to get viewership to grow and the time/effort to produce these videos on a monthly basis is becoming challenging.
      For me, it is all about how can I best use the time to promote quality releases rather than just a collection of 'shovelware' type games that we all forget about after 5 minutes. So yes, the number of games and the quality of these games is part of the reason why the Round Up has been missing. These short showcase videos help keep the channel alive while I think about exactly what RGN will become.
      Thanks for your support by the way, really glad to hear that you enjoy the Round Ups and I can let you know that I do intend to produce a C64 Round Up for March.

      @@RetroGamerNation Yeah, I think The64 mini and maxi boosted interest in C64 content, but it's been a while since anything new on the hardware side ... nothing to bring in new active C64 gamers interested in news about new games.
      I'd suggest expanding out to other systems but I don't think there are any other platforms which have taken up the slack. Amiga mini's relatively niche compared to the popularity of the C64. Spectrum/CPC/MSX/etc ... well those are just puttering along same as they have been. NES and other console homebrews are similarly just puttering along.
      Atari 400 Mini might bring in some new interest to Atari 8-bit game development, but this is relatively less active than the more popular C64 platform. And anyway, Atari 400 is something NTSC-land RUclipsrs would usually be more comfortable covering

    • @RetroGamerNation
      @RetroGamerNation  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for your input, always appreciate your well considered comments. Have looked into the Atari 8-bit scene but, as you pointed out, I am not sure I will be able to get a look in as that market looks to be well catered for (unlike the Commodore scenes which is littered with content with no commentary in a race to be the first to show the next average game).

    No C64 roundup video for Feb?

    • @RetroGamerNation
      @RetroGamerNation  3 месяца назад

      Unfortunately not. There will be a round up in March but I am not expecting to do these on a monthly basis moving ahead.
      At the end of the December round up I indirectly alluded to the likelihood of the C64 Round up series potentially coming to an end after January as I could see the early signs of viewership no longer growing. The relatively poor performance of the Gamers Choice Award confirmed that the channel would face declining viewership in 2024.
      It takes a lot of effort to produce these 15 minute monthly videos and it was starting to come at the cost of my own personal gaming enjoyment. It feels that I am able to make better use of my time to produce short showcase videos of quality titles rather long form videos containing endless 'shovelware' titles. So C64 Round Up videos will be produced when I feel there is enough quality content to push out - otherwise I will be focusing on showcase videos moving forward.
