what is going on in NEW YORK? I always hear either rapes or shooting everyday. I never want to visit there.
For those who do not live in NYC, there is still NO CELL PHONE RECEPTION between stations, so IMPOSSIBLE for passengers to call for help until train pulls into the station.
You would think they would fix that, but of course they won't. They don't care about the safety of the passengers.
@@Giggles50 I mean, I wouldn't feel safer because of reception between stations. That wouldn't help either. It would only help for people to show up to carry the bodies. How do you PREVENT this from happening? How do you make it so it's not POSSIBLE for this to happen, is the question, good sir. Metal detectors and police officers on every station/train - but that's not possible either. So they add little things here and there, like reception between stations, to give you a false sense of security. Reception between stations or not, you're dead if you're in the same car with this guy.
@@lousimms4766 The strange thing is no one died. Reception is necessary regardless. No one should feel secure on a subway. Many ways to prevent this, more surveillance, metal detectors, more police, undercover cops on trains, the list goes on. Hopelessness won’t solve problems.

I live in NYC. Subway connector doors should NOT BE locked. If there is a disturbance on one train, you should be allowed to walk onto the next one.
They locked it because people decided to jump off or something. I remember as a kid, I use to walk through these sometimes when the car is crowded. And I agree, it should not be locked.
I remember when they weren’t locked and I agree. They should not be locked. There have been many times when I needed to get out of a cart and go to the next one because of a situation and I’m stuck in the cart till the next stop. In particular I remember one time where I saw a guy with a gun in his jacket pocket and I was the only one in the cart. That’s not a good a position to be in.
Some aren’t locked but what if the guy finishes shooting in one car and walks into the next to start shooting even more
@@DWilliam1 They can keep moving to the next car. The issue would you rather be trapped in the car or get out and try to barricade the next car.
If they were unlocked the gunman could have gone from train to train. Just stop the complaining.
The problem is the gun lobby, they have saturated this country with semi automatic weapons of war, and their answer every time is more guns.

I have said for YEARS that the doors on those older model trains need to be unlocked. You have absolutely no way to escape a carriage until the train stops and the main doors open. You are literally stuck in that box for anything to happen in between stops.
I have said for years that they need to stay locked. If that the doors could open he could have easily gone from train to train shooting everyone up.

@@starofthehighestpowers9837 YES! There were 2 national high profile cases of people who murdered before, and were let out of prison recently and they murdered again. Naomi Iron, was the 18 year old, who was on her way to work in Nevada, and was abducted by someone who was paroled for MURDER.
My feeling on the train is its almost like a classroom, its better to be locked up, so someone in the next train cant come in and shoot everyone up there too.

The criminals are getting more brazen in crippling and killing their victims, knowing there's no capital punishment in NYC. The worst case scenario is they get free meals, medical and shelter for the rest of their lives, which will be paid by the taxpayers

As the saying goes - when seconds count, the cops are minutes away. Cops or security down there would mean zilch if someone does something between stations. But CC? If someone in that car had a Glock, "Smokey" would be in the morgue right now with a half dozen holes in him.
They show up in groups after something happens, then you get a photo-op/press conference. Sometype of Security @ every entrance/exit/on the platform 24-7 with better Technology.. 🙏

Folks deal with that kind of trauma in different ways. You're on an adrenaline high, you don't think at first but when it wears off, it hits you. The thing happens and you try to still go about your day like it didn't happen, not really processing it, just trying to keep going forward. It happened to me after my dad died suddenly. I just didn't want to process it, that didn't just happen, a suspension of a reality that makes no sense to your normal life. Then you run out of juice and break down. Looks like he started to suffer much later in the day.
It should be permanent to hav metal detectors n heavy police presence on the subways!! Not one wk n then u stop!! No more of that bulls”it!! It should be every day for the rest of our lives!! This is the real world n we hav to accept that!! There is evil in this world!!
Its too expensive to put policemen the way you are insisting. Last year everyone was clamoring for police departments to be defunded. So the same people who blame the police for everything in the next breath call for more police.
There is no way the city can afford to put officers in every subway station in every area, its just not economically feasible.

I hate riding the trains and the connector doors are locked. This is so unsafe and I got stuck one morning with a irate man in a car and I was so scared. Unlock the dam connector doors. Thank God these passengers were not in a long tunnel with this shooter. I hope they find him soon.

What's awful is how the conductor won't move the train out of the tunnel when it's mere feet away from the next station or platform. Thankfully this train was able to move immediately. Had it been the F line, it would've stalled for 3 hours (because of signal issues, or whatever) and everyone in the car would've died from smoke inhalation or hemorrhaging.
I thought Bay Area rapid transit was worst but NYC subway no way 😭shit crazy

I'm filing a complaint with the MTA does anyone care to join. We must always be able to move to another car in case of emergency. Some trains are always locked and that needs to change. Fire hazard and every other hazard

The underground is an entire city and needs the same protection as any city. The City of New York needs to bring back Transit Police where their service is completely underground in the subway system. By leaving it the same as NYPD they use them anywhere and mostly it will be above the subway leaving potential victims unprotected within the subway system.

They are locked on the lines where the turns are so wide that the cars separate more than normal. They don't want anyone transferring between cars when that happens. The lines that don't have that issue, the doors are open.

I can say it is ridiculous that the connector doors do not open on older IND cars. Had those doors opened people would have been able to escape and some would have been able to subdue the suspect. Nothing changes the fact that this is an attack on the subway, but this is one of the many reasons I prefer to see the newer IND cars.
