Thank you, im a returning player from 5th edition. Gray Knights with flamers were expensive 12 extra points per flamer! im glad equipping the weapons you want doesn't punish your points anymore.
If you do have any questions let me know, but this video will always be here to help brush up on anything you may not understand. I'm sure once you start building lists more regularly it'll become second nature 👍
@@TheCommandPhase my first list playing was 4 dkok ,3 Marshalls , lord solar,2 sentinels, and two basilisks was not a good one. Just not enough damage and the guard were only slightly more durable.
FINALLY! I get my answer! I’ve been looking all over for how many of what types of units each detachments need (I’ve watched lots of games but never played). Didn’t realize it got taken out this edition, thank you for telling me!
Incredible video. I’ve been touch and go with the editions as they’ve come out and this was a perfect refresher/update. Love the presentation too, super cool. Look forward to seeing more from you!
I’m new and am having trouble deciding, this definitely helps me wrap my head around the idea of how to get there but I’m not any closer to nailing down a faction😂
Welcome to the hobby and I'm glad the video helped! We do have a video on the channel going through all of the factions which may help you. Is there a playstyle or model range you like the most?
They’re certainly the best space marine chapter for me - love the Viking aesthetic! Hope you have a great time collecting them. Glad you enjoyed the video and welcome to the tabletop side of the hobby!
Thank you - I’m glad you like it! The channel is fairly new but has really started picking up traction recently which I’m very pleased with. Thanks again for the comment, it really helps 👍
I’m glad to hear that not only you’ve found the content helpful, but that you’ve started this amazing hobby! Welcome! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and I’ll do my best to help. Which army did you pick to start with? My aim is to help beginners with the content that I produce going forward, so I’m pleased to see I’ve been able to do that. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much, that really kind of you to say. I’ll try my best and see where it takes me. It’s performing so well this year though which is really exciting!
Welcome to the hobby - no need to worry we were all new at one stage! I'll be going through your other comments now to answer each of them to hopefully help.
So, am I stupid or is there actually nothing stopping me from taking Commander Farsight, 3 crisis commanders, 3 enforcer commanders, and 3 coldstar commanders in the same list? I feel like I shouldn't be able to do this, but if I can make a 1000 point army that's just 10 characters I will do it viability be damned.
So I know commanders used to have a limit in 9th of only a max of 2 per army. But from a little hunting I can’t see anything about that for 10th. And their keywords are slightly different too. Crisis commander in x battlesuit. Maybe there will be something in the codex to limit this, but unless I’m missing something obvious I can’t see a reason why you technically couldn’t. Although I’d say a max of 3 in total of unnamed commanders would be on the safer/more realistic side.
I want to make space Marines raptor chapter army that shoots and snipes a lot. I want to give them cute little acogs. And I want a small special forces people that can go spooky cat behind enemy lines. I like long range and ambushes. Is there a c130 or warthog equivalents ? I loved those things . You'd get everyone to come to one spot and c1 drops the finger of god . I purchased a box of infiltrators and I didn't have any paint so I just sprayed them death guard cus it was the nicest green I could find but I don't think it's a primer. 🤔 Like army painter paint feels more like a primer or like it painted that color with paint but citadel feels like it just changes the plastic that color. I don't think it's bad but it's weird . I got a 24 pack of speed paint 1.0 and I hate it so I'm trying to save up for a complete box of 2.0 the colors are all shiny but now I heard army painter is changing their acrylic warpaint and naming it fanatic paint. . I got some army painter army green can and some of their necrotic flesh can, their army green triad air paint . I have gw Loren forest, castellan green in air paint too , I have other gw greens and some nuln oil and camo shade washes . I got an air brush from amazon . I can't use speed paint unless it's on white . I have ap wh and blk primer cans too . Ap is cheaper but I can't compare cus I don't have a boat load of moola for cans and figures to go hmm
That sounds like a fun idea for an army, the Vanguard detachment from the new Space Marine codex should treat you well for that kind of army. In terms of the aeroplanes, the Space Marines do have access to a Stormraven gunships if you wanted to have something like that, or while they don't fly in the same way you have land speeders or jump pack infantry that could strike quickly. Alongside deep striking terminators. In terms of the death guard spray, it is unfortunately a base coat rather than a typical primer, so would have suited being sprayed over a typical primer. if it's an issue there are ways to remove the paint easily found online, but if you've only got the one coat and it's pretty thin than you'll be fine to paint over it. I've not tried the speedpaint range myself, but if they are similar to the contrast paints then there are a few other uses for them, by thinning them down to make glazes and washes which can come out nicely. If they are coming out too glossy, a thin coat of matt varnish will take the shine out, which can either be done after the speed paint has dried before any other stage or at the end. Painting at the start is very much trial and error until you find a way that works for you. Hope you find a solution and manae to get your raptor army built up how youd like them!
You know what? Since you helped me not waste money, I'll let you decide how to waste it. What chaos knight should I put in my death guard army? (I will 3D print if it is expensive so go wild)
I will give you like 3 months or so before I have to buy it so take as much time as you want you don't have to but I thought it would be fun to ask and if you are reading this I hope you are doing well.
I’d say from a gameplay standpoint brigands would work really well for your force, powerful mid range shooting, good mobility and OC for objectives. But if you fancied something bigger that packs a punch in melee I’d go for a Rampager. Hits like a truck and has advance and charge once per game too. Hope that is helpful to you and I’m doing well thank you, hope you are too!
@TheCommandPhase I think I will go with Brig Hands sense I get more maneuverability, screening ability, and pressure. I might go for 2 Brig Hands and a Karnivor so that if they do kill my units on an objective I can just fill it with some meat and keep them tangled up and not rush a big thing with only one melee attack. Thanks for responding, and I am glad you are doing well. I hope to see more of your content in the grim dark future soon.
So for your army - you'll have an overall army rule. Then you can select a detachment for your army. If your faction only has an index it'll have only one detachment to choose from, whereas if your army has a codex it'll have a few to choose from. These rules open up different playstyles and benefits for certain units in your army. Typically it'll be 1 detachment rule, 4 enhancements and 6 stratagems in each. These all get swapped out if you choose a different detachment in army list building. There may well be some slight unit restrictions or bettleline changes for some too which will be told in the detachment rules. Hope that helps.
The detachment is the set of rules/abilities for the army to utilise. Which varies the play style of your army. These would have been like sub factions in previous editions.
I totally get that, it is a shame, but at least there are some benefits to having some of the battleline units in your force. So if you want to keep your army building fairly traditional then obviously feel free to 🙂
So in terms of Datasheets, this is the term used by Games Workshop for each of the different units in the codex. So you can only have a maxiumum of 3 of each unit inside an army. The only exceptions for this are the battleline and dedicated transport keywords, which are found at the bottom of each datasheet in the keywords section. Battleline are typically your troops, like intercessors for space marines. Where you can have up to 6 units of them should you wish to. While the dedicated transports, like a space marine rhino, again is up to 6. Hopefully that has cleared that up for you.
