this is exactly what i needed! i just started my ABSN program and have been having MAJOR imposter syndrome. thank you so much kiara and erica!!
Cutting out social media was a big one for me. I am retaking pharm and I am in an accelerated program so I need all of the hours I can get. Cutting out social media has given me at least 5 hours of study time for the week.
This is such good advice!!
As an Australian nurse of 9 years, a video like this when I was studying would have been incredible! Although Australian nursing degrees are quite different, I did do part of my degree at Georgetown and it was fascinating to see how competitive everyone was! Amazing video Kiara! x
My nursing school set the first year students up with 2nd year mentors. I am beyond grateful for my mentor as she's such a little angel but now I feel like I have 3! You are both so inspiring and down to earth at the same time. Thank you!
Hi Kiara and Erika! Thank you for this!! I needed some motivation, prerequisites are already daunting as it is. But this has given me a realistic view of the future and I needed that especially about work/school/social balance(:
Thank you SO much for this video and please do another!!! I have 6 months left of nursing school and I still doubt myself all the time!
Me too! I also applied to four nursing programs and was testing out the water. I got into the waitlist for all four but only made it out of the waitlist for one school.
KIARA!! I hope you one day sees this but I just got into Nursing school this September and I’m super happy and nervous but I also feel like I’m drowning but your videos have been very helpful and I love re-watching them when I’m feeling down. So, THANK YOU!! ❤🎉🎉
-Much support from Canada
This video was great. I'm in a 16 month MSN program and we just started week 7. Y'alls pep-talk helped me pass H2T and get through my first day of clinical haha :)
I’m a 3rd year OT student and I always would write on the PowerPoints on my iPad. After lectures I’d rewatch videos and take notes and draw pictures on content. Then I met with friends and we’d order pizza and talk through every lecture slide to slide! It definitely worked for me
THIS. I swear it works...and provides balance which is good too!
Your study videos and note taking tips from college have been so helpful.
I'm so glad!
That bagel looks really good. My favorite bagel is the Lox.
I’m in my 2nd quarter of nursing school right now and this was so encouraging, thank you!! One question is how do you create study groups with people/make friends? Our cohort doesn’t feel very close yet but I want to be the change and help bring people together, just struggling to connect 🧡
Dear kiara , thank you so much for creating these entertaining videos for us, you don't know how much I love watching ur videos and how much of an inspiration you are to me
This is a really good video. Starting my RN program in 2024! xo
Good morning Kiara happy Saturday morning and happy weekend and happy fall day vlogs and I enjoy your channel because you are amazing
I started watching you the summer before I started nursing school and now I have 1.5 semesters left!! Love love love this video. Thanks for making me so excited about being sooo close to being a nurse!!
Ahh no way! That puts such a smile on my face. Thank s you so much for following my journey, best of luck with your own 💓
Kiara I failed my first dosage calculation exam :( I have everything I need to pass on the 2nd chance. My pharm teacher literally doesn’t teach us anything. Holding on for dear life. 😢❤
Hang in there...I know it's hard to see in the moment, but conquering this challenge is yet another step to building the confidence you need in this profession and you will tell other nursing students this story one day and be an inspiration to them! Keep you head up and pumping out practice questions, I believe in you.
I am in my first semester of my accelerated program. And it’s flying by, min exam passing grade is a 75. I got a 74.989 I wanted to throw up but I got back up and I have another exam Thursday.
The last 2 days of September, Kiara!❤
Thank you guys so much for making this video!!! I'm actually in my second semester at Linfield in the TBSN program!!!
So cool! Say hi to professor Troung for me!
Needed this today! Starting my program in January and I am nervy!
Ahhh you got this!! Keep working on getting everything settled and enjoy time your family and friends, nursing school is a different beast, but it's so doable and rewarding!
me as a first year med student giving up my 20s 🥲 haha but I love these kind of reflection videos and seeing how far you've gone! Congrats on 1 year!!
Wow did this bring back memories! I got my acc back at OHSU several years back and so much of what you talked about resonates with me. Honestly simulation was the absolute worst part of the entire program!
Thank you for this! I am in my first semester of nursing school and have been watching you for a year!! Do you have any advice on making schedules and organizing assignments?🩵
Hope you’re moving right along in your program! Sorry for the late reply, but I am a big fan or breaking it down week by week in a todo list that reminds me when things or due or a part of a project I want to get started on! A lot of people love google calendar and I utilized a friend group chat to remind each of random things that were due and checked our online site calendar for a good overview of the big things that were coming up :)
Hi Kiara, Great to see you post a new video. How are you been?
Kiara, what is the specific Patagonia vest you're wearing? I need one 😍
Dear kiaramadisen, thank you so much for creating these entertaining videos for us, you don't know how much I love watching ur videos and how much of an inspiration you are to me
Thank you so much for watching them! Hope you found it helpful!
A great job on this video
Thank you!
Hi Kiara and Erika! Absolutely loved this video. As a May ABSN grad who is taking some time off before getting a job, one of my biggest concerns is losing my skills during my time off and not being able to transition smoothly into the working world. At the same time, I know that I need this time off in order to be the best nurse I can be, and to successfully start PMHNP school in the spring. Kiara- how was your experience taking time off and your transition into practice? Would love to hear more ❤
I did the same thing as you! I graduated end of August, passed NCLEX in September, and didn't start applying till Nov/Dec, started working end of February. I swear it was the best thing I ever did for myself, I came into the profession refreshed rather than burnt out, I became a sponge, and it is true what they say, you learn everything on the job anyway. My preceptors were so encouraging and helpful when I legit only felt confident taking vitals. It's amazing what time allows you absorb with the frequent repetition you get. Don't be too hard on yourself and be a question asking nurse, not a guess and go one :) Enjoy your break, you 1000% earned it.
i go to the UO and one of my best friends goes to SSU! love you and erika, and this warmed my heart! :)
Aww I love that so much! Thanks for watching 💛
U got this x
Thank you!
Grear video god bless you 😎🌟
And all of a sudden I'm craving a bagel after watching the intro clip...
Hey Kiara
Good video
Nice video
Happy Friday
Same to you!
Have you been watching Keegan’s videos?
How many hours total do you do in clinical? Here is NZ you have to complete 1100 hours before sitting our equivalent to the NCLEX :))
Wow! It was a little different for us because I know we had to get quite a few hours, but during COVID many of those hours were made by spending time in the simulation lab or watching videos of nursing related topics, not actual time spent with hands on patient care which was a bummer :/
yeah ive missed on on clinical hours because of COVID but we didnt get anything to supplement that learning :((

The thumbnail is that a picture or freeze frame from your video?
Yep!
❤
Thank you for watching!
Some companies pay more for the night shift. Is that true where you work?
Yep, we get a small differential added to our normal salary
I start my MSN program literally tomorrow and although I’m soooo excited I’ve been nervous today because I have terrible imposter syndrome 🥲 but this made me feel better and I feel like I can get through it, just gotta take it one day at a time!! ty for this 🩷
