While I'm unironically excited for Welcome to Rockville, there were definitely some nerds arranging the lineup. $275 for 4 days with those headliners is a pretty good value if you like a bunch of them.
I call Sunday's headliners the "Fibonacci Sequence Stage".

"Who are the people at Rockville who want to see BAND-MAID?" Probably the same people who saw them at Aftershock 2022 like me, they had one of the bigger crowds the small stage had this year. They were good.
Rex Brown is only missing the remaining 2022 dates with Pantera. He'll be back in January.
I can comfirm that I will be at the Tool, Deftones, and Incubus stage tripping shrooms and congratulating myself on how much smarter than all of you I am. Lol
As someone who may or may not have attended a Band Maid concert this year, their audience is about half aging metalheads and half the anime convention crowd, so I can absolutely see them being at this festival, especially after their recent performance at Aftershock and the subsequent mostly sold-out US tour.

Funnily enough the first time I heard of them is Glory which is an ending song of the last Yu-Gi-Oh Anime.
Not a Band Maid fan at all, but a NEMOPHILA fan and feel totally the same. I guess you can find 10 newer Japanese metal bands that are way more talented and way more active than 60% of those bands. In the mix (with some I'm not a fan of), Asterism, Band Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, Unlucky Morpheous, Trident, Gacharic Spin for instance. That's 7 names from someone not really trying to find every little band, but even having Ladybeard would be more fun than some of the smaller bands, and damn this dude would light up the stage just pure energy wise and crazyness.
As expected, Finn's commentary is gold when it comes to criticizing these festivals. 👍
I went to Hellfest a few years back expecting it to be the biggest cringe and it did not disappoint. The lineup is always stacked regardless of genre and it is stupid amounts of fun when it's 2am and there are only Pirate Metal bands playing.
Are we not gonna talk about the boy Hardy making his transition from Country to Rock by being apart of this festival?! 😂 This is actually cool to see.

I paid about $200 just to see MCR a few months back. I'd never seen them and they were the band that defined my childhood so I thought it was worth it. Wouldn't do it again though

I really like Coheed. The problem is, I just like to listen to them. I'm not analyzing the music and claiming that it's elevated above any other band. I just like it. I've seen them live a few times and I sing loud af. The problem is, I don't know all the words, I'm just enjoying myself. The daggers that I was catching when I threw out an incorrect lyric were insane. Still enjoy the music though

That Hellfest lineup is like one of those "Give yourself a point for every ___ you like" and each incremental tier of 10 points is how lame you are

Can someone define “butt rock” for me? Hear it all the time and I assumed it was like early 2000’s hard rock bands like papa roach but he’s claiming In Flames butt rock so I’m confused
"PerfectCell71" Butt Rock is mostly used as a derogatory term aimed mostly at Post Grunge and Nu Metal after 1999-2000(Mostly because Limp Bizkit blew up around that time and then the copycats came and gave the genre a bad name). Personally, I agree with it, but I think the term goes more than those two subgenres as it would be aimed at Pop Punk as well. In short, commercialized punk, heavy metal ,1'st/2'nd wave emo (Mostly Rock music around 1994-95-2011-12) and recently octanecore although I would call that stuff butt metal

Say what you want I saw kiss a couple months ago at a festival and they put on one crazy entertaining show, they are a blast. You don’t necessarily go to see them for the music

I was stationed in Europe for 8 years and have been to hellfest a few times. every year I went I barely went to the 2 main stages the best part of those shows to me were the death metal stage and the punk stage. Also I would like to point out that while I was at another festival in 2009 Volbeat was on the main stage and according to your video about most played rock songs of 2022 they were on the list so maybe Europe isn't always 5 years behind..
