i have a technique which works for me when proof reading my work: focus on the space between the words. I surprised myself how many errors leapt out at me. Basic ones such as wrong declinations and repeated words. I think this is because it helps me review without claiming the words as mine. More objective and detached. There is so much attached to the words: identity trauma memories cultural conditioning and on. Whereas space between is neutral.
I published my book recently and I can confirm that Amazon has a grammar checker. I hope it's good because it said my book had zero spelling and grammar errors 😅 BTW I'm buying your book.
Thank you for the video Dale that is a lot of great information. With all of these rules & new rules it is going to be a nightmare to keep up with Amazon KDP. 😳
Dale! Great video as ever. I'm currently writing my third book. I am really fed up with Microsoft Word though. I want to quit using it. It's so unreliable especially when using images. I'm prepared to invest in some decent, reliable software to publish books as I move forward. What package would you recommend? Thanks and best wishes Kevin
Ooo, that's a tough one to answer. I'm big about hiring out, so I'd recommend Miblart if you can afford it. But, if you're wanting complete control of your interior formatting, then Atticus, Scrivener, Vellum, and Dibbly Create are a few options worth considering. It just so happens I'll be talking about that in next week's podcast: ruclips.net/user/live_sWcaoFIgFs?feature=share I don't know or am privy to any price changes happening for any of the software, but there's still the risk it could happen. The only reason why I mention this is because someone waited for my review of Publisher Rocket last month and was upset that the price increased before I did the review. Just wanted to give you a disclaimer so you're not upset if you wait to hear me weigh-in.
This is so helpful, thank you so much! I’m curious - if one uses generative AI to write the book subtitle or description, would that also be scrutinized by Amazon? Is it looked at differently than the actual content of the book? This is all complicated so I really appreciate your videos. 🙏 Things are changing so rapidly!
You’re good to go. That’s considered assistive, not generative. I double checked about book descriptions because I get all my marketing copy started with AI. If you’re ever unsure, contact support.
I'm currently getting back in the swing of writing after a 6-month hiatus. Recently I got Pro writing Aid and it is absolutely phenomenal. My question is if I use the feature rephrase, would it be considered using AI?
How would you manage pen names with one KDP account? I know of authors who write under different names to differentiate genres. Is there a way to use multiple pen names under one account?
Yes, I have done it. I guess the only drawback is that if you don't want others to know about the pen name, you can't claim the title in your Author Central.
You can have as many pen names as you wish in your KDP account. Staci is half-correct in that if you plan on using Author Central to further index your books through an author profile, they'll limit you to three pen names (and in rare cases, allow additional pen name slots). Where Staci is slightly off is that the author profile won't reveal the account holder or name behind the pen name on Author Central. It's still anonymous to the public, unless you specifically want people to know it through the bio section.
@@DaleLRoberts @staci-layne-wilson awesome! Thank you both! I'm not sure I want to use a pen name myself, but I have a lot of writing friends who do so I was curious!
Hi Dale. Since i write my books in english in scrivener, if i use an external program to translate the manuscript to another language, is that considered that i used AI in a generative manner? I don't want the AI to write what i want to write.
As for plagiarism, if you are using parts or even all of the text from a PUBLIC DOMAIN book, like from Poe, Irving, Verne, etc, so long as you cite it (and I'm NOT certain that it is even necessary), you should be protected from the Plagiarism bug. Anyone?
Guys, am I able to publish book 1 and book 2 and then third book will say 2 books in 1 all with separate ISBNs. Is this allowed on KDP and will there be any copyright issues. Can anyone who knows inform me please
Hello sir so when i write a book i don't really get sales and i don't get why tho. But i get order when i run a free promo after which nothing happens after that. Perhaps the reason maybe because i dont run amazon ads please what do you think of this?
If you aren't actively marketing and promoting your book, there's one issue. You could also look into whether your cover and book description are dialed in. Get a few unbiased peers in our industry to provide candid feedback about your cover and description. Feel free to drop into my Discord community if you want help in that area (link in video description). But, first, it comes back to - are you actively marketing and promoting your book? And, I'm not just talking about paid ads. Watch this video for a better understanding: ruclips.net/video/qUhalQpzlLc/видео.html
Great video, Dale! Lots are common sense and we could all use a reminder from time to time. Thanks!
You bet!
Thank you! 😊
You're welcome 😊

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Dale! I knew most of these no no's, but it is always good to have a reminder!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting.

It's not perfect, but can work. For instance, it grabbed "booktok" as a typo. I just ignored it and pushed it through.
Great topic today!
Glad you enjoyed it, buddy.

Glad it was helpful! Just wait…I’ve got a GREAT video in production that’ll clear up the ambiguity of the rules.

Technically, yes. But if you’re talking about it being AI-generated or AI-assisted, then it’s just assistive. Contact support for clarification.
So juat to be clear. If we have an account for shopping and whatnot and a separate one for just KDP, we'll get banned?
No, that’s fine. You can’t have two KDP accounts.
How would you manage pen names with one KDP account? I know of authors who write under different names to differentiate genres. Is there a way to use multiple pen names under one account?

Can you open more accounts under a LLC?
One account for one person, no exceptions. That’s what they told me. I tried to ask variations of that and it always came back to that rule.
Hi Dale. Since i write my books in english in scrivener, if i use an external program to translate the manuscript to another language, is that considered that i used AI in a generative manner? I don't want the AI to write what i want to write.
You’ll probably want to ask KDP support that. I’m guessing that you probably should, but it’s a guess, so check with them first.
As for plagiarism, if you are using parts or even all of the text from a PUBLIC DOMAIN book, like from Poe, Irving, Verne, etc, so long as you cite it (and I'm NOT certain that it is even necessary), you should be protected from the Plagiarism bug. Anyone?
My guess: so long as it's not a lot of content (short passages) and you cite the source, you should be fine. Consult a lawyer to be safe.
Do i have to tell Amazon if I use AI generative and edited the content by human? 🙏
If used AI to write the content or create graphics, disclose it. Contact support for clarification on your situation.
Guys, am I able to publish book 1 and book 2 and then third book will say 2 books in 1 all with separate ISBNs. Is this allowed on KDP and will there be any copyright issues. Can anyone who knows inform me please
Yes. But once you bundle a single publication once, you can’t bundle it again. Be selective with when you bundle your book.
Hi Sir, are there any negative consequences to creating books by AI
No.
Trying to join discord - all I get is oops ? Can you help?
Hmmmm, not sure why. You visited DaleLinks.com/Discord?
Amazon Amazon Amazon…
Yep, yep, yep…

Are you a Indian Hindu.
Nope.
