- The movie Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom used this aircraft for some scenes.
Ford Tri-Motor, directly from EAA AirVenture 2009, at Oshkosh WI
The Ford Trimotor (also variously identified as the "Tri-Motor", and nicknamed "The Tin Goose") was an American three engine civil transport aircraft first produced in 1925 by Henry Ford and continued in production until June 7, 1933. Throughout its lifespan a total of 199 aircraft were produced. Although designed for the civil market, the aircraft was also used by the military and was sold all over the world. Unlike his famous Ford Model T cars, trucks and farm tractors, Ford did not make the engines for these aircraft.

I had the privilege to adjust the valves and replace push rod seals on that A/C in Leesburg, FL. 1991
Wow what an amazing machine 👍
👍👍
Sorry that is NOT a Ford Tri-Motor, it's a CURTISS Tri-Motor! The Passenger windows are FAR too low. There are no oval pilot "knee hole" windows as ALL Ford Tri-Motors had. The landing gear is FAR too wide a track. The engines aren't Pratt and Whitney's, which a Ford would have, those are Wrights, Tornados I think. The fuselage is far too deep in the belly for a Tri-Motor Ford. I'll be more than happy to send you photos of a genuine Tri-Motor Ford from Woolaroc Museum near Dewey, OK. They have serial number 247 manufactured hanging from the ceiling of one of the galleries flown by Wiley Post Non-Stop across the United States in the first such solo flight, sponsored by Phillips Petroleum Company, circa 1922-23 and you can see the obvious differences. THIS AEROPLANE was used in the 1939 Clarke Gable movie "Only Angels Have Wings" as there are NO airworthy Tri-Motor Ford's nor have been since before WWII!!! The one that "cameo'ed" in "The Untouchables" never left the ground! BTW, ALL Tri-Motor Ford's have CORRUGATED SKIN like JU-86's. The aeroplane in YOUR photo doesn't have corrugated skin!!!
❤❤
Great video ! I discovered this plane on X-Plane too..I never imagined there were any in the air still...Great you're taking people for rides !
👍👍
%.
A masterpiece !!
I loved reading "The Tin Goose " to my son when he was little. He also loves the story. A real workhorse of an airplane.

There was one of these flying to Put In Bay from Sandusky in the 1960's.
My first airplane ride was in a Ford tri-motor in about 1946. The seats in it were wooden picnic chairs bolted to the floor. I was 4 years old, and I still remember it. I'm 72 now.
you are lucky man
lucky dog boy !!!!!!!!

I live in Oshkosh. I’ve seen this plane numerous times. It flies at half the speed of smell!
👍👍
I beg to differ most respectfully - some of our prized aircraft are preserved but other (perhaps even more worthwhile) historical parts of our history are being uprooted and destroyed
Video 13 ago 😱 I'm watching 2022
Esse avião é incrivel 👏👏👏
😅 😊😊😊😊
The airport, jist like local car market rather say bike market.
Which airport this is?
Talk about a cross country air craft. It crosses county both by land and by air.
What an airplane paradise that place is.

Where is this video have been taken
One just flew over my house this morning and of course I was like WTF?! Being an airplane buff i knew right away what kind of plane it was. Then remembered the air show this weekend!
👍👍
Indiana Jones' airplane was a Fokker tri-motor.
This airplane is in Omaha Nebraska today.
I flew on one of these 34 years ago. Very pleasant. Nice big windows to enjoy the scenery while traveling at a sedate rate. Every seat was both a window and an aisle seat!
👍👍
...I flew on NC8407 back in the 1960s at an airshow in Milwaukee WI.
This aeroplane has quite a history. It began service with Pitcairn Aviation in 1929 becoming the first aircraft for Eastern Air Transport when management changed hands a year later. It was sold two years later to Compañía Nacional Cubana, and in 1946 sold to the Dominican AIr Force where it served as the president's transport. In 1949 it returned to the States where it was a barnstorming aircraft at airshows, then a crop duster, and even had an appearance in the film The Family Jewels before being sold sold to Dale Glenn who operated it on the airshow circuit oe again. That was when I flew on her. She sported a simple dual red stripe livery then with the owner's name on the rear of the fuselage. In 1973 during an Airshow in Burlington WI she was flipped over and pretty much totaled during a severe thunderstorm.
Instead of being sold for scrap. Paul Poberezny purchased the wreck and NC8407 was fully restored over the next 12 years and once again, sports the livery of Eastern Air Transport.
Back in the 1960s the 25 min flight around the city cost me 5$, a lot for money for a 13 year old back then. Today scenic flights cost 75$. with a discount for EAA members. I hope to fly on her once again.
As I remember her.

Precision and quality exceptional, where computers were sliderules.
My wife bought me a ticket for my birthday. What an awesome ride. It seems like a 100 foot roll for a takeoff.

Still wonder।।।why flying is fearfull।।
Unreal
What a great video! I felt like I was there. Brought tears to my eyes. I'll be telling all my friends about this one! Love the old Ford.
Beautifull and very nice tagazoo !
Nice video my friend!
I have been flying this plane on X Plane 9, an aircraft simulator. I was inspired by it, and looked around on the web to learn more about it. I soon found this video and I must say you did a great job documenting this plane on video, it was awesome to watch.
What a fantastic machine :) ....and that place looks to be the airplane mecca, holy crap there's aircraft everywhere you look....

When I was a little boy in the early 1960's we lived at Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. We regularly flew Island Airlines to the mainland in this 1928 Ford Tri-Motor. I still remember the seats and the sound of the engines.
There is or was a pork plant near the airport...I was there in '85 or'86.. saw this same plane you flew in....was in wonder wayyy back then.. how old is that thing? Fords just keep going...and going...and....lol.

How may of these are still flying today?
The plane used in the Temple of Doom was a 1920 Ford %At Tri Motor named "The City of Philadelphia and is housed at The Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida painted in TWA Colors. This is not THE plane.

"Calling Barranca-Calling Barranca..."-Just couldn't resist :D
That's sensational 💕
Super video
Needs 3 flatheads for power. Henry made OHV aeroplanes and flat head cars!
This plane has 1200h.p. between the 3 R-985 engines. I dont see 3 flatheads being able to keep that up for long on an aircraft.
voei nele em Oshkosh em 2011, sensacional
👍👍
"How hard can it be?
Altimeter? OK
Airspeed?..ah OK
Fuel....Fuel?....FUEL?!?!"
*Trimotor's all 3 engines start shutting down and for some odd reason they sounds a lot like the Millennium Falcon's hyperdrive malfunction*
"I think we got big problem."
GREAT!!
Muito bom o vídeo, parabéns!
👍🔥
Ha that's funny when the pilot says " I'm a broken record. All I do is say 'Seatbelts, Seatbelts,Seatbelts all day' "
Olá thank done
I wouldn't fly in it if you gave me 1 mln. $$
ko
the engines sound like the BMW's on the Ju-52. I wonder if they were the prototype for BMW's product.
The engines are P&W R-985's
❤❤❤👌👌👌👍👍👍
Muito legal mesmo
