  • Artur Rubinstein interviewed by Jim Fassett, radio broadcaster of the NY Philharmonic as part of the intermission program on March 26th, 1950. Rubinstein talks about being too nervous to play Rachmaninoff while he was still alive because he was such an incredible player of his own music. Also a story about how playing Ravel in Spain nearly caused a riot (!).

    Absolutely wonderful! Rubinstein is my favourite pianist and I collect the entire videography of him and every single bit of audio that isn't a studio recording. I don't have this one, thank you so much.

      I might! I really don't know. If you see to the left of the speaker in my video I have a closet filled with hundreds of reels. I don't have a manifest or inventory or anything so I don't know yet what's on these. Subscribe and turn on notifications and follow along with me as I post new reels!
