      but without the tool...? Which is like $700 for the "otc hub grappler", cheaper/easier to but new hubs w/bearings installed which are like $100+ ea ymmv, IMHO or if you have a shop press you may can press them out too?

    The nut is made of aluminum and it has tendency of expanding the treads inside it once reused. In other words it may lossen itself later on if reused. Honestly as a mechanic I can tell you can reused once or twice more with no harm. After that it's garbage! Good vid!

      @hashnoor6172 I was wondering if I could get away with using them on a second set of wheel bearings so thanks for your reassurance that my wheel won’t fall off along with my rotor 😂😂

    • @hashnoor6172
      @hashnoor6172 Год назад

      @BOSS NESS lol .. of course you can get away with it. Just make sure to use some red tread lock. Did it many times including my own truck.

      It’s definitely not an aluminum nut please don’t spread misinformation.

      The torque is so high maybe they figure it can only take one torque with confidence .Aluminum might have something to do with it. Struts have the same warning I think, but we used to always reuse those nuts.

    Where did you get the wheel bearing and the part# by chance?

  • @gary00832

    They’re a Tty (torque to yield) spindle locknut, gonna have problems with the shielded bearing vs sealed…that’s my problem..did rotor assembly on both sides and since they’re not sealed I’ve got to do them again just after a year from contaminated bearings i.e water dirt salt etc etc

    Great video!! This is exactly what I am planning. The noise & feel in the steering wheel is slowly getting more noticable.
    What did you decide when it comes to the one time use bolt ? new sub

    Try wood on your vice to protect the rotor.

    What would you do if the spindle was bad how hard are they to change out I have a 2007 F150 2 wheel drive I was told my bearing ate in to the spindle

    I just find it very strange a truck 2WD has no wheel assembly to replace it so instead you must replace the wheel bearing itself.

    • @tonywashington5515
      @tonywashington5515 Год назад +2

      That's what I thought but look up brake rotor. It is available as a whole assembly with the bearing.
