With teary eyes I thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing my parents to me through your music. Parents were born in Hawaii and raised in Okinawa and both are deceased. The memories of them playing the shamisen and dancing are so clearly etched in my memory bank. Your music brought them to the forefront this evening as I watched your video and the chills ran down the back of my spine. You made me happy this evening and domo arigatou gozaimasu, Discovery Sound.
I'm sorry about the lost of your parents; I'm so happy that you found something that reminds you of special memories of them. It's wonderful when you find a song or music that can open your heart and put a smile on your face like that. May God bless your heart!
@@connieanderson-c3vI was born in Gushikawa-shi as well. 1998. Yeah, I'm still quite young. It's funny to think Gushikawa-shi doesn't exist anymore. It's now Uruma-shi.
I lived on Okinawa for three years and had many chances to listen to music like this. Even still, though I was born in the US and am back, when I feel homesick it is for Okinawa. The culture, the people, it was all very beautiful.
Greetings from Thailand. I really love Okinawa culture & people. Ryukyu (Thais call Liu Kiu) and Kingdom of Siam had commercial & cultural contacts since the early Ryukyu Kingdom. Awamori is made from Thai indica rice imported from Siam and Sanshin is also covered with Thai snake skin. Now I'm writing about history of Ryukyu for my Thai friends in a fascinating way so that they wont be bored. There's 3 parts: Relationship to Siam, Ming China, and birth of Karate. Place names in Uchinaaguchi are also mentioned to compare with Standard Japanese accent.
I lived in Okinawa for one year and this brings back many heartwarming memories ❤️ it's beautiful to see how Okinawa always stay in your heart even years after. I want to go back!
I like it! sounds relaxed (to me)😌 I love Okinawan (Ryukyuan) music, culture and language(s) from Germany 🇩🇪 and I want to visit these beautiful islands
this song reminds me of my grandfather who was born in okinawa. even though okinawa now belongs to japan i dont want to stop considering myself okinawan :) :)
Thank you for posting this, it is beautiful. I have only been in America for two years but I miss home so much. This song brings back wonderful memories of Okinawa. I want to go back so badly. I was raised there, it was pure paradise.
I love everything about Okinawa. I don't know if there's something in the water, but once you've been there, no other place feels quite as beautiful, peaceful, and welcoming. I wish we had stayed there.
I've listened to this everyday for the past week, I love it. I don't usually like traditional asian music elements infused with a modern feel, but this is amazing.
such relaxing music, so calming, so gentle, and so soothing, love it. really perfect if you came back from work or school and your really stressed out, this calms me right away!!! love the music!!

In this they embrace everything like a blushing bride does her bouquet of freshly-cut roses...not minding thorns which pierce the most petite and delicate digits. Isn't it something, this transmission or connection still keeping your father and you together with good music acting as the conduit? It is much the same with me...from both my parents I've learned to love music as the soundtrack of my life.
Your words are so sincere and special that I have to acknowledge them and the effect they must have on people who watch this. I've always been fond of this traditional jewel from beautiful and noble Okinawa...but your "meditation" on the significance of the song brings fresh whole meaning and sentiment to it. We do not know each other, but you have made my day. Thank you, and thank you for this Discovery Sound. :)

"Asadoya Yunta" is neither in Japanese or Okinawan. It is called Yaeyama language, spoken on the island of Yaeyama, Okinawa prefecture. All Ryukyuan languages are languages of it's own right and is recognised by the UN.
Syafiq Amir actually there is no yaeyama island. Yaeyama is a group of islands Okinawa included. Iromote, ishigaki and yonaguni being the southern islands of the Yaeyama island chain. Each island has its own distinct dialect.
When I went through the caves (Peace Park) and came out weeping, there were older ladies sitting on the park benches sipping Pepsi or Coca-Cola. They saw me weeping and told me, "It's ok". Even if it caused me pain, I am thankful for all I have learned. xozone
Is the lady singing in this music video Kyoko Gushiken? The music in this video is very nice. Conjures sweet emotions within. Many of the songs on Ms Gushiken albums are Okinawan songs like this with dreamy-like modern music background... which gives it a beautiful musical dimension. I admire her for doing it.
@tamashii14 It is a sampler. The above song is just a demo I made for the sampler. There is a link in the description to the song on itunes. I am really glad my music could make you happy.
What beautiful music! I have never been to Okinawa but dream one day visiting it. This music really takes you there!! Is this part of an Album? Where can I get it!!!
Hi! I'm a singer, and I want to sing the original Yaeyaman lyrics of "Asadoya Yunta", but I've only found the Japanese ones. I'd be very grateful if somebody provided me those lyrics. Thanks!
Wow, thank you HumblePilgrim1, you just reciprocated the same; made my day with your reply. Life is beautiful isn't it? Imagine the sound of a 3 string instrument has opened a friendship between two strangers..ha! The power of a shamisen~beautiful! Hey this is great! Good old DiscoverySound! Are you still up in Hokkaido ? I like the Okinawa folk songs ! Sometimes I play them on my Shamisen too! I've heard other Tsugaru Shamisen players say that it is difficult but I don't usually have a problem with them since its mostly just a matter of translating major key tonalities onto the futozao Shamisen. I find the Okinawa melodies to actually be rather fun to play! Anyway hope to talk to ya soon!
It's called Hogan, but Okinawans do have a different dialect when they speak japanese. I never thought there was a difference between mainland and oki dialect till I went to tokyo haha

such relaxing music, so calming, so gentle, and so soothing, love it. really perfect if you came back from work or school and your really stressed out, this calms me right away!!! love the music!!
