- ■ NEW ORLEANS, USA: My main problem with most American cities is the lack of a proper European style downtown walkable historic area with tons of restaurants, bars and classic buildings. As soon as I enter New Orleans' French Quarter and wandered down the famed Bourbon street, I realised this is one of those cities that bucks the usual American trend of downtown being dead.
Full of life and fantastic architecture, New Orleans has hands down the coolest American downtown area I've ever come across. Finding a historic building to stay in proved a difficult difficult task though with nothing exceptional showing up when searching through booking.com.
After extensive research I was pointed in the direction of the Olivier House, a historic boutique hotel made up of 5 family homes built in the 1880s. This turned out to be a gem of hotel and the second best I've stayed in in USA.
With the hotel out of the way, and after picking up a Korean hobo on a park bench, I started exploring the city's bars and restaurants searching for the best local beers and food on offer.
New Orleans did NOT disappoint!

The boat tour was unbelievable, I've seen many gators, yet never knew they could be interacted with like this.

That map in the hotel is showing Jamestown and colonial Williamsburg the first English settlements in the new world if you ever are cutting through southeastern Virginia take the Scotland ferry into Jamestown and do the tour, Colonial Williamsburg has no cars allowed and they have demos where workers dress in colonial clothing and work in the shops like how they did back in the early 1700’s and it’s really well preserved the place is so full of history I’m sure it would make a great video series and I’d love to see my favorite RUclipsr cover my home!

Love seeing you appreciate New Orleans. My 5th great grandfather lived there and was murdered at his doorstep by a pirate in 1814..My grandfathers name is Nicholas Louis de lalande and he lived at casa lalande which is at 620 Ursulines St..the family sold it shortly after in 1818..The pirates name is bealived to be Vincenzo Gambi

@SuperJmbk it waa 3 pirates if I remember correctly. Jean Lafitte, Pierre Lafitte who were brothers and Vincinzo Gambi who was the brothers Captain.
Luis lalande asked Pierre to come to New Orleans to sell merchandise. He actually had set him up for arrest instead, and had guards waiting when Pierre arrived and was taken to Cabildo prison (still there today)
The exact spot the arrest occurred was st ann st. And Chartres st, nee Orleans louisiana. (Google Street view is available)
After his arrest, his brother sent vincenzo to assassinate Luis lalande for the arrest and betrayal

Man, that "Jade New orleans" absinthe you drank is one of the finest existing one honestly. I know this one, you don't feel the 70% alchool it's traitorous and easy to drink. It's made in a french 200 years old distillery named Combier, with Ted Breaux, a New Orleans originated guy wich is a very famous absinthe distiller, using the old recipes and stills. It's a lot more expensive than other typical anis alchools though unfortunately, partly because it's produced in way smaller quantities I believe. The old absinthe had high concentration of a substance (thujone) in it wich was accused to drive people mad, giving hallucinations and all (or creativity depending how you see it) leading to it's ban. Since the reintroduction on the market the concentration of the substance in the bottles has to be limited (arround 10 times less than the old ones) in order to be sold. It was banned in 1915 here in France and the name absinthe can now be used again on bottle since 2011, that's very recent.
So the more you drink some absinthe, the less expensive it will be and the more creative you will be! Trust the lady who served it and the power of the spoon she gave you

It's absolutely disgusting what the judeo marxists in power did to Jackson Square removing historical statues and monuments to the men who fought and died for that land. New Orleans has also become a haven for violent crime in just the past 4-5 years and nearly half of the police force quit after 2020. I used to go 3-4 times a year and couldn't believe how bad it was the last time I went in 2021.

This is the most unique city in the USA. You should take a swamp boat tour and eat crawfish while you are in the area. Go to a local bar in the nearby area and talk to the locals. Cajuns are some of the best people on earth.
