- ■ NEW ORLEANS, USA: Walking around New Orleans' French Quarter in the evening I saw an awesome store named Antique Guns & Swords. It was closed but in their window I saw ancient coins from the Roman Empire for sale and lots of other valuable antique curiosities.
This I had to investigate. The next morning I loaded up with freshly minted Federales Reservos and went antique hunting in this excellent store. An hour later and extremly happy with my purchases, I decided to go celebrate my antiques with more Absinthe together with Mr. Noodles the Korean hobo I magnanimously housed and fed in the previous New Orleans episode.
That of course turned out to be the start of a rather entertaining booze filled evening up and down New Orlean's French Quarter and of course Bourbon street.

Born & raised in New Orleans. You surely captured Bourbon Street properly 👌🏻 was so hoping you would go in some art galleries, Royal Street is my favorite in the Quarter. Was also hoping you'd capture the back of the St Louis Cathedral where the Jesus statue is with the light hitting it reflecting his shadow on the back wall of the church, you not only did, but the young man playing the trumpet walking by in that very moment made it that much better 🥰 Looks like it was St Patrick's Day 🍀, hope y'all were able to go to the Irish Channel & experience that whole level of out of this world craziness 😂

Been to New Orleans. All I got was high cholesterol. Etouffee all the things. I threw my last 25 cents in a slot machine and won $15k! It was a super time...we left with the money..the right thing to do! Love staying at places with cats.

@@StolenOne it was so scary when it happened ..the machine made crazy noise and then shut off like it broke. the security lady said she saw and she'd make sure I got paid! My wife was crying and I was just stunned haha... they come out and count it out to you like a gameshow!

The bayonet gun is a lafauceaux. His grandfather invented the brass cartridge long before it was adopted. His uncle came up with the idea of a barrel thru cylinder, which was stolen by smith and wessen . Very interesting family. The price is spot on btw.

Just a little FYI Harald , the antiques in the South are much more expensive than in the North , I have been a collector for 30 years and i know people i have met at high end auctions that buy enough to fill a box truck and immediately take them South and triple their money instantly , most unfortunately much furniture was burned during the Civil war , the antique shops grandfather being from Pennsylvania where I am from most likely bought in the North and sold in the South , many antiques were transported by river , and canals and they had maps made to show the routes of this commerce .

What you seemed to have missed is that New Orleans is considered the birthplace of Jazz. Before the Civil War, slaves were given Sundays off. Jazz grew out of the slave drumming and Voodoo rituals that took place in New Orleans' Congo Square before the Civil War. Before 1900 early jazz was found in neighborhoods all over and around New Orleans - it was a normal part of community life. African-American neighborhood organizations known as social aid and pleasure clubs also began to spring up in the city.
New Orleans is considered the birthplace of jazz because it developed from ragtime music, African religious worship, blues, and Cuban music that was found in the city. Races were allowed to live together in New Orleans, creating the environment that created jazz. Louis Armstrong was born in New Orleans in 1901.
Famous Norwegian artists like Kristian Haugers and his Jazzorkester probably wouldn't have existed without New Orleans. Listen to his band's version of "Jubilation Rag" on RUclips.
I am a Canadian that lived in NOLA for a year - the Quarter is a lot of fun - but there is a lot of great places outside of the Touristy places - hands down the best place that I went to in the Quarter was The Dungeon.....great video! Come on over to Vancouver Island sometime and do some good motorcycle riding!
