      Hardest thing I ever did in Destiny was the black spindle mission when we just kept trying to melt the boss and then tidy up as 12 months of Destiny taught us thats how you do it. Eventually changed strats and then my mate and I used to run Kinderguardians through it for fun.

    Imagine running down a dark, mysterious hallway. Out of no where *bam* trap doors open and your entire team is seperated into 6 different rooms. You have to find a way to get back to one another by completing a series of tasks. But these tasks are intertwined. Some one in one room triggers adds in another room. Killing those adds triggers a mini boss in a different room. You have to coordinate through communication to come up with optimal conditions in order to clear each room, and to find your way back to one another. If one of you fails, each room starts to wipe one by one until you all perish. UNLESS, you can stop the impending death by solving your rooms mystery; which is harder without having another guardian alive in the other room.
    Will you last? Can you save your team from wiping at this crucial moment? All have died except for you, Gaurdian. The clutches that are your hands squeeze the controller harder as your sweat makes it increasingly difficult for you to grasp it. Succeed or perish. These are you options.
    You have 2 days.
    The "2 days" thing is irrelevant. But all of the best stories give ultimatums so I thought I would try it.

      Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

    the beasts are difficult because it requires 3 degrees of communication. 1 for the person leading on the ground through the dogs, 1 for the prism holders to warn the dogs presence and kill the handlers, and 1 for each player to find and kill their respective dog while keeping track of time. For an experienced team of friends with set roles its easy, but for 6 randoms that dont know each other and maybe dont have call outs or even know the mechanic, its a nightmare :) Sweet vid datto
    Edit: I have beaten the raid and have a team, but my first attempt was lfg players so this was my experience. Thanks to those leaving tips but i am just answering in response to datto wondering what lfg was like

    • @Equin0xVG
      @Equin0xVG 7 лет назад +7

      Blakearious Gaming I think another reason is a lot of people don't know how to traverse on ground. Like which route is best to take from one spore to the next. Beast paths as well. Even then you can do Vault of Glass right now and consistently wipe in the Gorgon maze with some lfg groups. Maybe it's people not caring to be careful? Or they don't bother to learn the mechanics of the beasts and just watch guides without ever learning from experience and expect to complete the encounter just because they watched a video. With a well communicated group the only issue would be learning routes.

    • @BetaMind

      Communications is my biggest fear for LFG

    • @thrilla72
      @thrilla72 7 лет назад +2

      I've found that killing all the adds and then giving everyone 5 minutes to walk around the gardens really helps. I did this to get a better idea of where to go thus I can lead a group. I think one issue is stragglers or a beast handler being killed which can lead to a beast being spooked and happening upon your group.

    • @bootstrap3404
      @bootstrap3404 7 лет назад

      Our group didn't have many problems with the Gardens. We didn't need 3 levels of communication though. Basically just a leader on the ground, who understood the beast-pathing. And the prism holders would just say where they saw flowers at, to give the leader options.
      "We have one flower near... other flower is caves." Then the leader on the ground would just say "Ok, were going caves" and everyone just worked as a unit. Really cut down on unnecessary coms. You don't need to know where the dogs are too much if you understand their pathing, aside from really basic callouts.

      Ill let you in on a secret. Get 4 spores and kill all the dogs first phase. So easy that way!!! 1 person per dog just blow all your specials and nades ext. I did it at light lvl 270. Just plan on putting your high damage players next to your low damage players so they can help when they finish there dogs.

    this is for your "what's the lfg experience like?"
    i hope you have a warm cup of coffee, because this is going to be a read.
    in general, really great. there are a lot of competent, patient people online if you know how to look for the right groups. i actually found my clan using lfg. but that's boring, you probably want to know the bad parts.
    for every part of the raid, one weak person can wreck it all.
    *in general*: a weak player often doesn't speak much, have poor communication abilities and weak weapons. the lack in communication is usually a big part of it, since they never say they need help or ask a question to clarify something they don't understand. either they're slow learners or just can't learn something, we don't know. we try to sherpa as much as we can, a weak player needs to put in at least some effort to learn mechanics.
    *dogs*: if a weak person uses a crystal, they can be slow on calling flowers, not know how to call flowers or call the wrong flower entirely. this includes a quick sync to each other's strategies so everyone knows what's happening. i don't know if a weak person just doesn't listen or if they just get confused easily. they also often forget to get the sniper or beast handlers. since you can't even melee if you're carrying a spore, you're caught with your pants down and anything you do will begin to attract a nearby dog. if they're sneaking, a weak person (somehow always) is the last person to a flower. they lag behind the rest of the team, either getting caught or forcing the team to wait for them in order to get a +12 buff, which could get the rest of the team caught. lastly, during damage phases, a weak player often doesn't have a good weapon like the warlock sword or merciless, and can't kill their dog quick enough, forcing someone else to kill their dog quicker to help them out.
    *gauntlet*: this one really got my team because this part is frustratingly easy. a weak player can't distinguish between voices. for example, a weak player is assigned to shoot the bottom plate between two sections. if the person who calls YOUR plates says "middle" for example and the other runner calls "bottom", they'll think they're supposed to shoot the middle plate. this obviously both kills runners and spawns the purple psions, forcing the rest of the team to pay attention for the weak player's mistakes. basically, you have to hope to get lucky that the runners call the same call, or a call that would make the weak player shoot the right plate regardless (e.g. if they're shooting bottom, a middle or top call would let them shoot the right plate). given how you only need three people to finish at the end, it doesn't matter if they die immediately while running.
    *baths*: they can't kill their bather and never stand on the plate. for some reason, even if they have merciless or anything, they just can't kill their bathers and get murdered immediately. my clanmate made a joke that he'd see his chain move up 2 inches and immediately hear "guardian down" without fail when we tried to carry a weak player. obviously this means the side they're on is behind, and can even wipe the team if they're playing catch up for long enough.
    *calus*: inside, they can't kill the psions for some reason and get knocked over the barrier. i don't know if it's because they're confused about needing to shoot the psions in the bubbles or the psions on the ground, but they just can't. they also NEVER look to see if there's a hole, and usually fall into one. it got to a point where i needed to tell someone exactly where to stand for them to survive, knocking me out of killing psions for a few seconds, leaving one guy left to shoot. thankfully he was good with a grenade launcher and was able to take out the bubble psions immediately. outside, they die. constantly. i'm usually on the inside during this encounter so i don't know firsthand, but from what clanmates tell me, they just hang in the back not killing adds but somehow keep dying. they also apparently get confused during calls and either melee the wrong psion or don't even try to melee them in the first place, leaving the other two trying to get to the psion they need to melee while also focusing on adds.
    whew, that was a lot, but i've helped sherpa on lfg sites relatively often both in d1 and d2. 99% of people are quick learners. they're just new and don't know the mechanics yet. once they realize how easy it is they're more or less perfectly fine. but every now and then you get that 1% guy who somehow turns the gauntlet into a 3 hour experience.

      Da Vi I’m definitely a weak player lmao. I have a hard time fully grasping the entire thing because I’m a visual person. So when someone’s telling me what to do before the encounter then go in expecting me to do it perfectly, i fuck up because I have no idea where the hell to go. Luckily I’ve been able to find people who were very understanding and patient but if it weren’t for them I wouldn’t raid at all.

    • @jeffersonuzzle24
      @jeffersonuzzle24 4 года назад

      I’ve Sherpad a weak player through encounters I had a good grasp of, and on my 2nd full Levi I sherpad a full team. 1 guy was new to the game, but luckily we all new each other from school and siblings except for the new guy, but he had played with some of us before. He was extremely nervous and felt like all wipes were on him. It took around 7 hours to do, but it was a well spent experience. I also just sherpad a few XGN Clan members last night, and very good experience. Took us a while, but we ended up beating the raid after around 5 hours. Very fun, interesting, and hard. We sadly had to 2 phase and almost died in the final stand due to bad load outs among the team, but we ended up clutching and beating the fool

    The belly is a wasted opportunity IMO. They could've made it part of the exotic raid quest where you have to find parts, solve riddles etc. The best part about it is the exploration which has minimal replay value. Running through that every week to open chests for loot feels like a waste of time.

    LFG Pleasure Garden. Blind attempt aside,
    Issues the random groups I've been in have resulted from people not communicating (my beast is above half health, I need help killing it, etc) People not judging the wipe timer (not running back soon enough)
    Accidentally triggering the damage phase (usually the spore runners)
    Or not having enough DPS to kill their target (related to not communicating that they need help, (but help was from overleveled people, not everyone being 270 or something) )
    Hope that was helpful, they seem like pretty common/obvious issues.

We had to stop at guantlet. As for dogs though, assigning everybody to a dog and have a set "leader" on the ground that knew the path and was very patient made it go very smoothly. It only took us like 30mins total for dogs. The problems I would run into in my main group is people fighting over who is leader and not being patient. They try to run and finish it faster and get sloppy and get caught.

    Speaking from personal experience:
    I really love this raid.
    1. The under belly(all the hidden passages)
    2. The order of encounter changes every week.
    3. It challenges you in different ways.
    4. It's not just killing bosses.
    5. I really like the colors/weapons/location.
    6. I was able to find really good players in destinylfg.net(aside from a few assholes)
    7. I agree with datto for the most part.
    8. Some people will never be please, they just complain about every single thing.
    9. Really hated the bugs and glitches.

    Lfg for pleasure garden was actually good for me, the team taught me a new strategy which worked amazing which I then taught my team and so on. Only problem is so many teams make different strategies and even though that is good, it gets hard when they don't wanna use the mainly and easy to use strategy and use their hard, complex one instead

    In my experience with LFG groups the problems with the beast is one of two things, either people just wanting to one cycle it because they heard people can do that so they try to rush then throw a fit when they get caught, or the one dude who is always lagging behind doing something else while playing who always gets spotted right off the bat.

    My biggest issue with this raid is the loot system. How can trials give 2-3 times more loot than the raid. I miss getting a piece of gear after an encounter and being able to instantly equipped it and use it. Putting a lot of work for little reward

      Devil_Dog_ 97 u can unlock the chests underground. 3 chests will always drop at least 1 exotic. plus after every raid u get 33 tokens which can be swapped for raid gear as well. idk wtf ur complaining about, u want loot simply poured down your throat?

    The thing about the beast encounter is that it preys upon the worst propensities a guardian has. The way we did it initially (before realizing that 4 spores around a flower gave 12x), was to split up the gardens on a 50 yard line, and have two teams of three, which is basically how the other three encounters operated anyway. It was a little bit of a struggle to leave communications open to only the people required to relay information. Deciding who was in charge of what information is a struggle for every fireteam.
    The biggest problem, though, was patience. The royal beasts move dreadfully slowly. How many times in the Crucible, specifically Trials, does someone say, "sniper hardscoping that lane, just don't even peek. Like, at all. Just don't peek that lane." Player X then surreptitiously peeks the lane, and gets shot in the head, and the round is lost. There are so many times in this encounter where you need to wait for the beast to turn around, and everyone says, "Morn is right in front of you, don't move at all." And instead of not moving, someone in the fireteam can't stand still, and creeps around the pillar, and alerts one of the beasts. It's the opposite of everything we know as a Destiny player. We need to just stand still!

      Nathan Enright why king's fall was and still is the buggiest destiny 1 raid by far. From a technical performance standpoint alone it has to be lower on the list. I've seen videos where the warpriest and golgoroth have respawned instantly after being killed. I've experienced oryx only teleporting four guys out of the shade phase and casting doxology on the others in hard mode. I've experienced oryx slamming his fist while the runner was on the ground causing the runner to get launched across the room to his death. Multiple times I've seen all 16 orbs detonated at the same time all while oryx is being damage by touch of malice only leading half damage. Even when king's balls doesn't glitch, it's too long and tedious. Plus it has by far the worst raid loot in destiny 1. The machine gun and the sniper were the only good pieces of loot. Maybe from a pure mechanical point of view I could agree with you on king's balls but as an overall package I think it's the worst raid in destiny 1 and the second worst raid bungie has ever made ahead of only leviathan

    For me what I noticed when I went through the Beast section with different groups is that the thing that gets us is the communication between the person leaving the ground group and the guys on top shooting the beams. The guys on top can be slow to the relay information and sometimes they could cost us precious time in running to the correct flowers so that we can get the buff.
    Sometimes they take too long and we only end up with maybe 24/36 before the Beast start getting restless. Also sometimes the people on top end up being spotted by the beasts and we have to wipe and start over. Over if you have good communication between the group leader at the bottom and the people on top and we all move efficiently we can get at least 48 - 60 stacks.
    Lastly the other thing that gets us is whenever the beasts grow Restless people be forgetting their assigned spots for their dog and that can cause an issue later on during the burn phases. Though if people do get to their assigned spots they tend to stay longer trying to kill their dogs then what they need to and take too long to get to the safe room and then they end up dying right as they get to it

  • @CouchCit

    @Datto I think what makes the Garden segment hard for LFGers (beyond the obvious stealth and communication aspects) is that it's open to completing using different strategies/philosophies that clash; i.e. you can try to build stacks up to x48-x60 and then go for the kills, or you can try doing x24-x36 stacks and whittling down the health of the dogs. You can choose to leave dogs alive which gives the team more sneaking time, or kill the dogs which lessens time but makes sneaking easier. Both philosophies work, but if the team isn't on the same page then all fails.

      And that is the worst part of Destiny as a franchise, it plays like an "mmo", but doesn't have all the important GOOD parts of an "mmo".
      The game has no text chat, 3 set emotes and 1 custom, no rewarding character progression, all 3 classes feel the same, and the most important issue THEY SEPERATE CONTENT WITH DIFFERENT GAME RELEASES.
      So now D2 players have less content to play with than D1, but the gameplay is the exact same so you are literatly getting a 60$ story mode with minor tweaks here ad there and less customization options.

    Beasts has been for our group due to two issues specifically. Beasts spawning inside the safe room, and beast seeing the prism holders up top as they move between locations (right side especially as only one sun spot is optimal for not being seen and taking care of beast tamers that spawn after each flower is shot). Aside that, the beasts aren't difficult to kill.

    Every group I have been in struggles with the Shadow Room on Calus. Mostly because you can't make a mistake in there or the whole raid dies. Seems a little too harsh for the normal mode of the raid. I have been in 6 different groups and have yet to beat Calus. 4 couldnt even get to the damage phase. Any advice is appreciated.

    • @vux3643
      @vux3643 7 лет назад

      Jace M make sure your group is calling out the symbols in a specific order (i.e. person 1 person 2 person 3) and you shouldn't ever have to deal with people talking over each other. make sure that you assign each person a spot in the void (left middle right) and base your callouts on that order (left to right, person 1 on left and person 3 on right and person 2 in the middle etc). also the normal three psions that spawn are attributed to side, so left guy kills the left psion and so on. for the purple psions just pay attention and shoot whichever one is closest to you; i was on left and killed the left one and the others shot the right one. finally make sure you pay attention to the environment between symbol phases so you don't go off a ramp and die because of it. the skull part is pretty easy, but if you're dying because of it i suggest a titan wall or bubble. good luck nonetheless.

    • @sparkz-rl
      @sparkz-rl 7 лет назад

      Just keep at it man. Try and get a team together when you have a lot of time to spend on attempts because the longer you and your team try that phase the better your teammates will get at it and the easier it will be to beat. I agree that the whole dying in the shadow room and causing a wipe is a bit harsh but it's not impossible. Maybe when you get teleported have 2 people focus on killing little psions as fast as possible and one focus on killing the projections? That worked for us. Also just make sure you and your teammates are VERY careful when you're being pulled to the next barrier because even the smallest little ramp can launch you over the wall, and the more time you get teleported the more holes appear in the ground. Lastly when the people in the shadow room get to the skull shooting part have the 3 people still in the throne room wait as long as possible before they take out Calus's overshield. The longer they wait the more skulls the other group can shoot and the more damage you will do overall.

    • @justicejohnston3620
      @justicejohnston3620 7 лет назад

      For me, stupid stuff happens like the wall will disappear or people will hit a tiny bump and go flying over the wall. I personally think they should make the void wall a little taller and make the psions less likely to do their grenade attack as soon as they spawn.

    • @Wukkas
      @Wukkas 7 лет назад +1

      The normal psions tend to hide behind ramps or obstacles on the left and right. We have found it beneficial to crossfire. Left guy shoots right psion, middle shoots middle psion, right shoots left psion. Everyone should have a good clear line of sight to those psions. use a scout or hand cannon that can 1 or 2 shot psions. They spawn in the same location every time so after you try it a few times you should be able to have your crosshairs waiting where they spawn. Also focus normal psions first then the projections.

    • @TheDaedalus07o
      @TheDaedalus07o 7 лет назад +1

      I think it's pretty unfair that the Psions can sometimes launch their grenades LITERALLY AS THEY'RE SPAWNING IN

  • @johnstorer159

    I almost always end up LFGing the raids, maybe one day I'll have a clan but it is not this day. The beast mode encounter is especially difficult, because it requires the people on the ground to completely surrender themselves to the guidance of the Prism holders.
    The first time I did it we went in blind and it was an absolute mess, serious lack of communication, no one was the clear-cut leader, and everyone was talking over each other like a bunch of boneheads. We didn't finish, I left salty, and it was unfortunate.
    The second time, after watching your video actually, I knew exactly what needed to be done and the team I jumped to didn't, so I got to become the team leader. We did a dry run so everyone knew exactly where their dogs were, and I think this was absolutely crucial. I and my partner were up top calling stuff out and everyone on the ground stayed quiet. We took it very seriously, and for that reason we were rewarded. This is not an encounter you can goof around in. Everyone needs to be on the same page, and on the occasion you jump into a group with that same mindset, you really shouldn't have any problems, and that clear feels damn good.
    To sum it up, I think there is one thing central to the dogs encounter, and that is leadership. When you have one person who is the undisputed leader of the team, and the rest of the players treat it as such and listen to him when he has something to say, the raid will be awesome. However, if your team is a disgruntled mess, you're gonna have a bad time bro. So yes, LFG can work, but you have to find the right team.

    It sounds like when this gets to pc I'm going to spend more time looking at the scenery and architecture rather than the actual gameplay. Sounds pretty bland and samey from this (as an avid D1 player).
    Edit: Saying that it sounds like Bungie could be getting there (hopefully) with the raid formula overall.
    From what I've heard, my only gripes seem to be the gear not having raid specific bonuses, that you can get the gear without even playing it (through clans), the limited revive thing sounds a bit dodgy from Datto's description, and the complaints people were having with getting loot, and the raid chests, and only having keys for a week,or whatever that mess is.
    Also for those of you that have played through it, are there shaders? Is there only one (with presumably a second coming in hard mode)? And what's the drop rate like on them, and gear in general for that matter?

      The gear drops are basically nonexistent. All you get are stupid tokens to give to the raid vendor; which doesn't even unlock until you've beaten the entire raid. This is the worst part. It makes the entire thing feel pointless. Unlike Destiny 1 when you beat a boss and got 1-2 GUARANTEED drops that were ALWAYS higher light level than you were. I miss the 5 min show and tell after each encounter of a new raid where everyone saying, "Hey look at my badass armor/weapon I just got."

    My problem with this raid is that I feel like I'm getting shafted out of loot. The only way I was able to get loot was from the unexciting event of turning in tokens (as if it was like earning regular loot in the game) or by wading into this stupidly complex maze that requires more than one person to decipher. Wow! How exciting! You know what else required more than one person to get exciting loot? The raid encounters themselves that we just did!
    Why Bungie is tripping all over themselves to put unnecessary barriers between me and my rewards?

    I'm glad you asked about the garden encounter with lfg. My clan members already had 6 people for the raid launch so I decided to go on lfg. What I found was that it just requires good communication and like you mentioned the clutch factor is kinda ruined it's hard to "carry" or help people do their jobs if they mess up. When I did this with my clan the next day the garden became the easiest part of the raid because we had that communication.

  • @ndr2q

    Very disappointed in this one. The lack of context for one thing. Basically, if you didn't buy the collector's edition, you miss out on 95% of the lore set up -- because that lore is not in the game. For the average player, Callus is barely a footnote of the story ... and inexplicably shows up to be our final PvE raid. It all feels very disconnected from the story and the major conflict presented in the campaign.
    The lack of bosses is also disappointing as there's something cathartic about shooting a giant enemy until it explodes in a shower of loot. That's why games have bosses; that's why almost all raids have raid bosses. We like to see a big-bad-whatever and we feel empowered when we stomp it into the dirt. A puzzle doesn't really give you that.

      Did you feel that annoyed with the first raid? TBH, like Datto says, and if you get the quest for Acrius, you can kinda figure out that "Hey something, or someone is coming". The only thing the LE/CE added was a book that was like "Hi, I'm the Cabal Emperor, I'm on the Leviathan, and I'm currently fucking pissed because Ghaul and his ugly friend kicked me out". And it shows a bunch of named Cabal.. .That we never meet.

    In King's fall, Sniper + machine gun and Touch of Malice were almost mandatory.

    Hey Datto. My blind raid was with a full LFG team. Only two people in our group knew each other, everyone else including me was a stranger. We struggled for somewhere around 3-4 hours on the beasts, around 2 and a half of which were spent knowing what to do, but just being unable to do it. We struggled on the beasts because we tried to focus each beast one at a time for a long while, which made the timer for how long we could be out go down, which made things tight and we often couldn't close the gap. After we decided to split up and do each beast simultaneously we still struggled for a solid hour or two because we just couldn't sneak around well enough. The problem was almost always getting spotted by the dogs and not getting enough stacks of the damage modifier to do enough damage.
    I have the entirety of my first blind raid recorded. So if you want to see first hand what it was like for us, I can upload that and shoot you a link. And don't worry the footage isn't 240p.

    I day 1 raided with a group who finished beasts about 30minutes behind Fruit and his team. What our struggle was had to do with only the timing of things. After you understood the mechanics and how to navigate the map, which albeit took a long time, it was the timing of the howls. How long until the dog's grow restless/start their howl, how long can you DPS, each phase of beasts is a time limit that isn't displayed, and killing a beast shortens that limit by some number (that matters much less now as you can 1 cycle it). The maze of flowers is whatever as they are on a set rotation, and the dogs path is simple so it's just a memory thing.

    What I've found about the dogs is that if you assign dogs. Everyone runs to the dogs in random groups does damage you just take it slow. Use all three turns and it ends up being very simple. When fire teams rush and try to kill them all like you would with your clan in one phase. It generally ends poorly with randoms

    the Gardens are hard because the Beasts are inconsistent with their detections. I had a Beast charge at me, and PUSH me, but it noticed the person 10 feet BEHIND me. They can notice you if you are in the middle of a pillar, crouched, with your TUYA. They take patience and decent communication and LFG groups are usually friends only looking for 1-2 people max, and the 'normal' group knows each other, and communicates fairly well, and the found players have to mesh with them.

    Great review. In regards to the pleasure gardens and LFG question, I think the one biggest issue is simply map awareness. To answer your LFG question, though this might just be me.
    My friends don't play video games (disgusting, I know), so I find myself on LFG a lot. I found a team on the raid launch day and we got to Gardens after 3 1/2 hours, but by that time everyone was beat so they quit. I tried to find another team but nobody I could find was on Gardens so I took a break too. A few days later, I got another team together and we got to Callus, but couldn't beat that because (again) people didn't have time. So this week, I got yet another team almost immediately after reset and we absolutely steamrolled the raid, Gardens included. Everyone was extremely positive and we were communicating really well. We only wiped a few times and it was awesome. So, I went to my Warlock later that night to try it out. This time, nobody wanted to communicate. Everyone was just talking over each other and making it impossible to find the spore locations. As you'd expect, we split up. Yesterday I tried yet AGAIN and had the exact same luck. Nobody would work together and we died over and over. The last time I tried it was right after that group dispersed, and things were awesome. we had 48 spores on Gardens and were waiting to move to the final one. Our ground leader ran us by a beast (we didn't get caught) but the guy on crystal got unfathomably pissed at him because... I don't know why, but he started calling him names and things of the sort, didn't shoot the spore, and killed himself repeatedly, so this team fell apart again.
    The biggest issues I seem to have are 1) time commitments of random people, trying to do a raid that takes around an hour in half that time, 2) people not being able to effectively communicate and work together effectively, and 3) people's egos being so high that if things don't go their way (even if the way it happened resulted in a success) that they break a team completely apart.
    It isn't just in D2 either. This happened frequently in D1, it happens in Overwatch and seemingly any other game I play.
    If these things didn't happen so often, I'd be so much more inclined to play these games but the fact that they do just makes me lose my desire to do so. Thanks for reading.
    PS. If anyone plays on Xbox and wants to add a seasoned player to their team/clan/whatever, add me: Bendothemailman :)

    Datto, on my experience with lfg on the beast garden, it's usually player error, one spore carrier is a couple of steps behind the other three and will try running, which alerts one or two of the beasts. That's all I have encountered, granted I've only had the chance to do beast garden once, and never even completed it. Another factor was timing and attacking the beasts and killing them. Granted, we didn't know killing one would decrease our time to run the next round, but this was a day after it came out.

    To answer your question Datto: The beasts can be difficult on LFG due to the fact that the communication is super vital. The prism holders need to tell their teammates where to walk to get the spore and to call out if there is a dog nearby or not. Inside the maze, there has to be at least one person leading the group and watching the front lines, actively listening to the prism holder. If your team doesn't know eachother, you won't know how to communicate as effectively. That being said, I have gotten some really good teams from LFG that breezed through the dogs with little issue due to the fact that they listened and that they knew where to stand and go when a dog was around.

  • @PxxTKlickshot
    @PxxTKlickshot 7 лет назад

    Having actually completed the raid with an LFG group and not my clan, I can say the biggest issue was that there was no clear leader / shotcaller. Everybody tried to guide the others, calling better strats ect, and that was especially harmful with the beasts. So when we actually just made sure theres one or 2 shotcallers (depending on the challenge and teams), it worked out so much better. Also making sure that everybody uses the same callouts, for example some peolple called one icon axes while others went with cleavers, which caused confusion and wipes. So if youre struggling, my advice would be to make sure everybody is on the same page with starts and callouts, then define one or 2 people who manage the encounter and just do what they say. In one run I spoke maybe like 2 sentences cause more was simply not needed.

  • @cushdaddy24
    @cushdaddy24 7 лет назад +6

    I did the pleasure gardens with an LFG group plus one of my friends and it took us about 4 hours. It was the first day so we were still learning mechanics, but after an hour we understood everything and we were all above 280 light, several of us with merciless/other powerful DPS weapons. At one point we had all the dogs at very low health and were going to finish them off on the final run, but the safe room locked with the spore group inside and there was no way to leave unless the prism holders were able to kill every dog, which was extremely frustrating because it was out of our control. I get that there shouldn't be a safe room on the last attempt, but why lock the doors if everyone has to wipe anyways? Just keep the doors open and wipe everyone based on the timer. The other times we failed were because we were either spotted too early (because of a mistake or because the dogs glitched out and went on a different path) or we weren't able to find the last dog that needed to be killed or we ran out of time with the revive timer.
    I think the biggest issue I have with Leviathan is that Bungie has expressed that they want as many people as possible to experience the raid and enjoy end game content (as seen with the whole guided games thing), but it's a tall order to ask so much communication between strangers, let alone being able to actually execute each task. The Callus fight took me 11 hours over the course of 3 groups trying to finish him, and every time we failed it felt like cheap difficulty. The psions in the other dimension using their grenades to throw you over the barriers or running out of revives in the throne room with no possible way to come back. The only reason I bothered to finish the raid was because I felt like all the hours I spent on it would have been for nothing if I had quit. I honestly hated and game because of it and am dreading being forced back into the raid to get high level gear.
    There's also a huge number of glitches like Callus killing everyone on a platform with no notice, the dogs suddenly extending their walking pattern or spotting a prism holder for no apparent reason, people in the other dimension passing through the barriers for no reason, having to reopen the Callus door if someone steps on the platform (not sure if it's a glitch but they should fix it).
    The revive tokens and timer are the worst part of the raid: it's punishing death instead of making a mistake on the mechanics themselves, and in a raid like this where one mistake or glitch can kill you, it's way too harsh. All this combined makes it hard to believe that Bungie actually wants casual players to be able to complete this raid.

    this week we found a good group on LFG and finished doing everything, including hunting for chests, under 2 hours. Hello Datto, thank you for your work! Beasts suffer in LFG because I think there is not one particular iron clad strat that everyone has adopted yet. This leads to confused Guardians running around the forest floor and missing out on quality DPS time. I have also seen Guardians get really tripped up when returning to the safe room. Either they leave to early (leading to poor DPS) or leaving to late and getting lost or just missing the hatch (leading to unnecessary res. time).

    I haven't finished the raid yet because of the Gardens. The main problem that definitely occurred within the garden was the crystal holders not finding and calling out the flowers fast enough. Meaning the seed holders are just not moving waiting for a call out on where to go, losing time and making it more likely to be spotted by the Beasts and losing a potential kill. Furthermore, deciding what Beast to kill is interesting, is there a good order to do it in or just try to 1/2 phase it with a 36-60x damage stack

    As a long time destiny player as well, I have realized that this game has definitely been oriented towards all of the casual players in comparison to us grindy players. I have used lfg many times as well as done the raid with my friends. The struggles you would like ot hear about in the beast encounter is people on lfg not knowing the correct paths to take or the patterns of the dogs. Us hardcore destiny 1 players basically memorized the paths of the gorgons in vog, which allowed us to go through the gorgon’s maze with a breeze. My buddies and I were able to design a diagram with the paths through the dogs. One way I suggest you could help out those looking for clues on the beast encounter would be to design a diagram of your own with the paths we could take to each spore and make a video explaining when we go and where we wait for each spore. Also, Datto, I have been watching your videos for it seems like since day 1 of destiny, and I appreciate what you do for the Destiny community in giving us tutorials and your thoughts on what Bungie has had in store for us. Thank you.

    The "Beast Encounter" failed the first 1 hour because the guardians I was guiding didn´t know the best routes and when I tried directing them through these routes they were rather hesitent. Going through our optimal team routes really helped stepping up the game. We also asigned players to certain beast locations for the damage phase. These 2 tricks made it alot easier to pull off.

    In my experience so far the biggest issue with teams in the garden is the "floor leader" not knowing the map and the dog paths. For LFG if there is at least one person who has the map down he/she can lead the other three effectively through the garden to the plants but also everyone on the fireteam needs to have a good knowledge of the map for the one rotation strategy anyways

    I read that cabal book that came with the collector's edition (the thing with hawthorne's bag) and I wasn't very surprised by the raid. I thought "why would Calus sacrifice any of his lieutenants for a simple test of might ?" So I wasn't surprised that there wasn't any other boss than robot Calus. Which surprised me at first I didn't think we would face him.
    I feel like most disappointment comes from people who didn't know about all of this. Without that book which tells the past of Calus, how he became emperor, how he met ghaul, how he met te consul, what's the purpose of the leviathan etc...
    Without all of this you can barely understand the raid. You only know that Calus rewards any one who kills the ones who betrayed him, from that adventure of Nessus.
    Bungie didn't want to talk about the raid or the emperor before the raid's release and I feel like that's what caused a lot of misunderstandings and disappointments.
    Why aren't Ghaul's and the consul's backstories into the damn game ? Why can't we learn how the Empire nearly died at the hands of the belligerent aristocrats and was saved by Calus in the game ?

    The beasts took us 3 days to get passed. We had the mechanics down, we had the power levels, we had the gear, we had the communication. It was the bugs that got us every time. The dogs glitching inside the safe room, then randomly sprinting to places they don't normally go when no one is around. Them spotting players when we're in the safe room and they're back was facing us. Finding players on top, finding players when they are standing still not in the FOV. Just so many things.

    I think that a lot of the complaint comes from the fact that this is much more team based then previous raids. Like for KF, you say everyones position beforehand, and then there are only a few calls you have to make when you need to change positions and it's dependent on each player doing their job. Now, its dependent on each player working with others to do the job. Arguably baths is pretty self based, but the rest requires so much coordination, that it's hard for randoms to get in and get it done easy peasy (most of the time).

They could have had a lovely social space where you turn in your tokens, access your vault, etc... Apart from the very concise communication needed for Pleasure Gardens to go smoothly, one recurring issue we had was that sometimes our Prism runners simply weren't fast enough after the safe room opened, we'd all have the Spores and waiting for them to do call outs, and often times we could see where we should be going before they could call out. One of our Prism runners was/is kind of derpy too, sometimes he'd just forget to call out until we were yelling at him, and by the time we got to the flowers on his side they'd despawn. He'd also forget to kill his Centurion that'd spawn pretty much every time, which was kind of a pain.
    For me, personally, the biggest issue I had as a runner was getting lost after about 3-4 stack grabs, and having no fucking clue where my dog was(we were trying to one phase every time) so when the DPS phase would start, I'd have to visually see the safe room in order to know where I was supposed to go. It never caused a wipe or anything, but I felt slightly inefficient as a result. I'm sure the more I do the raid the more comfortable/familiar with the room I'll become and eventually it won't be an issue at all, but it was definitely giving me a headache on day one.
