There is NO WAY Orlando ranked 2nd to NYC. Orlando has gotten way too dangerous & over populated. It’s impossible to drive or park anywhere which is why most people dont go downtown.
Honestly I've yet to see a city where parking was not garbage. Special shout-out to Chicago. The old Mayor Dailey sold the rights to parking there until roughly sometime in 2070 and it is bullcrap.

The Church Street nightlife used to be pretty epic at times. I loved how they closed the streets every weekend and there would just be people packed to the gills barhopping. Between that, Ace Cafe meetups, and the annual tuner car takeovers, it was really the only times there'd be any life or anything to do in downtown Orlando. Now that Church Street is dead and Ace Cafe is being replaced by yet another one of those faux-luxury apartments, it will just contribute to downtown feeling even more dead now.

Not sure there is proof of that but, yeah, some folks can be unreasonably cowardly.
At 77 years young I've learned that nothing good is going to happen to me in a bar after midnight. Gave that up 30 years ago. 8 am on new year's is soon enough for me to celebrate 😂😂
"Nothing good is going to happen to me in a bar after midnight" - what a great phrase! I absolutely love it. 😍👍
You were still pulling late nights at bars at 47??? I think most of us stop by 27
@@questlive2338 Yes, in our younger days my wife and I loved classic rock and dancing to it. We had a great little bar in our town that was kicking. We would go out to dinner and then the bar and dance for 3-4 hours. We stopped when I started falling asleep about 11pm. Still listen to it and dance a little bit, but in our living room.
Very Wise person!!
Here here!
Especially to one's bank account with the prices bars are charging these days...
Also, good you and the wife still get a taste of those times. Presumably without the harsh wake ups following a night of revelry.😂
THEY thought it was a 🏀BASKETBALL🏀
Probably not?
Don't want to be ignorant here but the rest of the country knows Florida as "that pan shaped place what grows all them oranges and has weird crimes" but when you live somewhere and don't get out much it becomes easy to loose track of what the wider world knows about your area or even what the actual issues within your community are.
So so sad how orlando has changed
Darkness is the problem.
What?
Did Orlando forget to pay its electricity bill?
How about getting to the root of the problem and holding the criminals accountable, Both the thugs running the streets in Black hoodies and the white collar thugs running things !
Why was only one of those shades you listed capitalized?
@@JohnQ5 Racism?
Holding criminals accountable is so last year. We just elected a convicted felon to President. We live in a democracy and the people have spoken. They don’t want criminals held accountable.
@@michaellayton7373 if by thugs wearing black hoodies I'm talking about all the thugs that are stealing burning things in the streets and I know there's as many white people wearing black hoodies as black people wear black hoodies those people who want things without working for them and think the world owes them same thing with professional politicians get over yourself
Honestly there's no reason why the city itself is not hosting a massive New Year's Eve event like other cities do
This is the way we're going to deter crime! Lol
This is an increasingly dangerous world. Large crowds are dangerous too. Time to rethink the big public gatherings of all kinds.
The world is not "increasingly dangerous". How can you people not know that the violent crime rate has greatly declined from it's peak way back in _1993._ Every year there's less crime but you insist it's getting worse.
@BiggieTrismegistus you have to read past the first paragraph. There are reasons why the info you are referring to is skewed.
1:56 may be part of the problem. Ya feel me?
The permits and regulations?
If you are referring to the people sure it wasn't the most interesting dancing but they seemed to be having fun and I'm hardly light on my feet but they were fine.
regulate the fun out of everything...
Fun?????????
Probably be a good idea this year for major cities like New York to cancel their NYE celebration as well. With all the drones and craziness before and after election, I think the best place to be is home!
Violent country.
Where guns are guaranteed and health"care" is withheld.
People don’t know how to behave
Tyranny destroys itself. 😂
I'll give you three guesses as to why the bars on Church street are closed but you'll should only need one.
Folks drinking less?
@@JohnQ5 Nice try but...No.
@MAC-tv6zq your average American's wages stagnating leading to less discretionary spending as inflation outpaces it?
They explained it in the video. The bars want to make a bunch of money serving alcohol but don't want to spend any money on security needed for liquored up crowds of people.
Lol try living in Dallas I lived in Orlando for 38 years and dose not hold a match to the fuckery I see out here
Lol, nobody goes there because it’s too crowded, maybe say that again out loud
Ah, yes, the helpful hand of government, making everything better. They always need more money from the peoples pockets, and yet nothing ever seems to get any better. 🤔
It's a dark day in Orlando. And when I say dark, I mean really dark.
Yeah. I heard that the sun doesn't come up there until about 10 am.
I heard they love BMWs and blasting poetic poems while activating Ws.
NYE is the one holiday that I celebrate at home. Even in my young adult years. There's nothing fun about hoards of people partying together. It's better to be with friends, family, and neighbors, in a comfortable environment. 🎉
As a 26 year old, I’m good. Downtown Orlando needs a revamp.
Blame it on everything except the REAL reasons, which everyone knows anyway!! Most likely the smartest thing they could have done!! You'll never catch me in that insanity!!
Poor pricing and minimal parking?
That is the situation in most cities.
'We don't know why"? Is this guy serious? The city of Orlando is double charging the bar owners for services we are supposed to already receive as taxpayers. The city is responsible for this! Don't try to put the blame anywhere else.
Are you talking about the necessary increase in law enforcement for the night?
Because, yeah, it does strike me as unreasonable to stick the bars with that particular tab.
@@JohnQ5 Yes! They are double taxing a business for services that business ALREADY pays taxes for.
Democrat leadership is trying to turn Orlando into San Fransico.
Shut it all down.
EVERYONE knows WHY they closed...just the news can't say why.

Orlando Like New Yawk? That explains it
20 years ago it was the place to be for night life. Zuma beach at the old beachum theater was packed every weekend and bar hopping was fun and safe. Light up Orlando was huge back in the days. Now it’s not even safe to drive there at night. What happened Orlando?
This is happening in all the liberal states. Liberal government officials and gun laws have left us all unsafe. Florida needs to stop electing radical liberals to Governor, and other top spots, and vote for republicans. This stuff don’t happen in Republican states because republicans are tough on crime.
What a news story...
News: "The event is canceled. The bars are closed."
Me: "why?"
News: "we don't know"
NEWS @ 6 🙄🤔😳
They know why. They just won't say it.
@@aklambert67would you care to enlighten us?
Seriously, I'm more familiar with Austin (Texas, in case there is any confusion), and the scene there is also kind of weak but that might be due to the drink pricing. Walked ALL up and down 6th Street and couldn't find a mojito for less than $14 recently...
If they kept it open… we’d be hearing a lot of “he was a good boy” the following day
Great place to be during the day. Avoid at night.
Like Puerto Rico
I’m from Orlando, & I find that hard to believe that Orlando is the 2nd best place for New Year’s Eve. 0:18 Vegas is much better. Only things in downtown Orlando has a bunch of bars, (which apparently most are closed) in the day, Church station was fun, but that was back in the 90s, before the Orange ball drop even started.
Since church Street station became popular in the 1980s, we have seen the ebb and flow of bars and restaurants coming and going. Until the last few years, it was basically 100% vacant. we haven’t felt safe there in a very long time. more recently, we go to CityWalk at Universal Orlando. They have security checkpoints and lots of visible security.
So basically the guy says it kind of sucks that the business had to close but oh well screw them let's just move on and go somewhere else till they close down
Hey, he didn't say that 2nd part.
Just said that as of now it isn't happening so folks must fund there revelry elsewhere.
You can't force a party or event as that kind of goes against having a good time.
Why doesn’t the city sponsor the event. How embarrassing 😮
We all know who causes the problems
Yes, humans.
And sadly human problems will continue until the last 2 people are reduced to but a single soul.
Unless, of course you mean someone else and are just a bit too cowardly to say who.
If so then you are safe and it is okay. Not everyone needs to be brave and even those lacking firm constitution, like yourself, can have a place in society cruel as it can be sometimes.

I don’t think crime is the issue. It’s like they said, government over reach, they want more money. And the economy isn’t exactly booming in FL. High interest, high property tax, low wages. Everyone is watching and waiting for something big to happen for in order for corruption to stop.
The Govt is not asking for a toll to enter Orlando and it has noting to do with the economy...most of these folks can afford a Glock and an iPhone12...no problem

Wait, they can't police the city properly, so they put the burden on local businesses? That's a good way to create a ghost town.
Key West has more restaurants and bars on that island than any other city . Nighttime entertainment is what keeps the economy going strong in key West . No orange ball though. Closed 4am - 7am

You're right but it is a problem that entertainment is lacking in a city.
Not saying we should have governmentally subsidized entertainment but people deserve the chance to have some fun and mingle.
