FCES - How much pain should I work through? (Functional Capacity Evaluations)

  • If you're about to have an FCE (Functional Capacity Evaluation), and you have some level of pain, you might be wondering how much pain you'll be expected to work through during your 4-6 hour test.
    In this video, I'll do my best to answer that question: how much pain you should expect to work through.
    I'll also give you some advice on how to figure out how much pain to expect once you start working with your FCE evaluator.

    Done the test ater being off for L3,L4 was pushed to more ...little pain that day but now back ,thigh ,butt pain.. back with a vengeance

    I just had my FCE and now watching this anyway I couldn’t stop even though I had pain and strain my tears were rolling but he didn’t stop when I didn’t push hard because of pain he said it’s not good so then I over did my right hand and now last night and today I’m in more pain

      That's not good. Make sure you relay your symptoms to your primary doctor, as they're the one who will help you the most with this process.

      I did the exact same thing. I couldn’t move for a week afterwards.

    I'm going to have my FCE this month this video helps me tho I went the same place for doing my work hardening but do you have other videos about what type of test they let the injured work do or will be the same as doing work hardening? Thank you!

      Your FCE activities should be very similar to the various types of lifting and carrying that you did during your Work Hardening program. So I wouldn't expect any surprises if I were you. Good luck!
