You can use Bilt to pay mortgage to earn points and I am currently using for over 6 months but you have to make 5 transactions per statement to earn it
The Disney Visa card. It comes in two tiers: the basic credit card and the "high end" card which has an annoying $49 annual fee. The problem is not necessarily Disney itself. It's that when you want to redeem points, you are stuck on Disney, you cannot cash out the points like for example, with the Chase Freedom card. I have both but I will not upgrade to the "high end" Disney card. I barely use my Disney card because the Disney website is getting worse EVERY year. It's also bad that you can no longer buy movie DVDs with your points. They have gotten rid of those and forced you over to their Disney + subscription which is sketchy. I've heard stories of people getting defective cards and Disney "customer" service refuses to reimburse them or send a new card. The problem is when they scratch off the back and type in the subscription number, it sometimes doesn't work! I simply gave up and don't use it any more. The Disney store used to be very good but it's just doing away with SO many categories such as their bath soaps and accessories. Those are gone and they won't go to someone else to make the products for them. Their old supplier was H20+ and when the contract expired, they refused to renew with a similar brand. I only use my Disney card when my first card starts getting close to its spending limit and that happens only once a year so I will never hit $1,000 in spending on that card. Overall, it's not worth having and I do NOT recommend the one with the annual fee. It isn't worth it unless you live in Florida/Georgia, California, are a SUPER massive DIsney fan and visit their theme parks all the time.
I never understood the allure of “receiving your pay check up to two days early” Let’s say you normally get paid every second Thursday. If you get your pay check two days early, you would get it on Tuesday. If you continue receiving your pay check two days early, your next pay check is still going to be 14 days later. All you really accomplished is changing your payday from every second Thursday to every second Tuesday. Why is that a good thing? It doesn’t make sense to me.
Dude at the end of the day you get your check two days earlier. Some people may need it earlier for whatever reason, what’s not clicking. It just isnt for you
What I like about getting paid two days early on Wednesday is that I have a couple business days before the next week to make transfers and such. It just allows me to finalize everything before the weekend. But you make a good point that regardless you get paid every 14 days
The AMEX cards being like the classic "coupon book" where it's very hard to follow all the benefits and track which ones you still have each year can make your head spin. Playing the credit card game really requires one to be organized and understand all the perks. The Platinum Card is a turn-off for so many, not due to the fee, but because understanding all the perks is very difficult
Need the second video. Nice to see the downsides. I always try to look at what is bad and good about a card before I apply. I had the Gold card for years and then became a strong hater even before the annual fee increase.

I like the Blue Preferred because of the credit they give you for the Disney Bundle. For me, along with some of the offers they make available sometimes, makes it worth the $95 a year.
about the Green Card: the transit category should be combined with gas. this would make it the ultimate "transportation" credit card. also, the Platinum Card should be made into a 2x catch-all card as well. Amex really needs a personal catch-all card. these two changes would make Amex a LOT more appealing.
The fact that the biggest downside for Venture X is 'it will be downgraded' implies this is an almost perfect card😂. And the con you've said about travel portals is not a factor as they have a price match guarantee. Nice video BTW. Yeah, but for most people that does not work. There has been studies on people who use these cards for “points”. They are not really saving themselves any money because they end up spending more money. So all the “savings” for all those “points” happen because the average person will spend more money which means less savings, less money in a IRA, etc. For the average person, even if they pay off the credit monthly end up spending more money. Is the typical person actually saving money-no even if they have it paid off each month. Let’s say a person earns $2000 in “points”. They probably spent $3000 to $4000 they would not have spent had they been using cash/debit card. At the end of the day, unless someone is extremely disciplined, which that’s not 90% of Americans it cost them more by having less cash in the bank.

The platinum is the worst card in the market today. If you have a spouse, the annual fee is now almost $900 a year. Plus, if you want to go to the centurion lounge with your spouse or a child you now have to pay $50 for them to get in. Not to mention the benefits are all over the place. Most people who shop at Walmart aren’t paying for an equinox gym membership. The venture X is tough to get but by far the best card.

Can you make a video talking about what credit cards/company’s you can take advantage of via sign up bonuses and stuff like that as it’s a good way to make a few hundred extras dollars while also practicing good financial decisions
Yeah I totally get that. I think there’s too many credits and I don’t like that most of them are monthly. Makes it harder to get back enough value for some people
All I know is the wallet app for the Apple card is infinitely better than any other card and makes seeing how much I have actually spent so much easier.
@ it’s not an official policy, so there is no required disability rating. I just plead my case every year and ask nicely. Something to the tune of “I was in the military for ten years, I became totally and permanently disabled due to a service related injury, I can’t work anymore but I’m in school trying to train into a new field, I really appreciate the value that the Amex Platinum card has been providing me since I was 18 but I feel like I can’t afford it on my limited income especially with a wife and two kids. I would greatly appreciate being able to continue being your customer if there’s any sort of discount you could offer me.” They’ve waived the fee every year. They’ve also never asked for any documentation, though I’m sure that they can see that the category of discharge (medical separation or retirement) when they pull their SCRA report. I do feel very grateful that they waive the fee but I also feel kind of pathetic asking every year, it feels like I’m begging. I wish they would just waive it for 100% P&T veterans without them having to ask.
I have the gold card. I def get my money back with it.the platinum card helps because I book flights a lot . I get free flight to Japan. So I pay $675 ..to get a flight worth 1.8k. Plus the benefits. Worth it to me!
Absolutely dislike the Citi strata premier card: 100 dollars off 500 dollars before handling fee and taxes is the same as thank you for off setting the fees. Prices are ALWAYS higher than other portal or lower enough so it doesn't trigger the 500 dollars mark.
Idk i feel like you were a little too reserved. You could have easily mentioned how Amex and VX points are only worth if booking international flights. Also zero mention about the VX $300 credit is knly redeemable through their portal.
Honestly got the Amex Gold, got the sub, and now it's worthless. I can't recoup the credits because I do not use any of those services or eat at any of those places otherwl than force myself to Dunkin. Transfer partners are not the ones I would use so I am focusing on my Chase setup and my USBAR. I will be cancelling asap.
@@Daniel_Braun Yeah for sure; that's why diversification is also pretty important (but of course that brings up the problem of simplicity vs complexity), but that's part of what makes the credit card journey so interesting
The bookings on chase are more expensive than booking through other portals. Regarding car rentals, i use to be able to rent a car from a place down the street but now, only at an airport in another state.
@ I’m a college student and I get all my gas, which is my biggest expense, at Costco. That coupled with the decent catch all benefits made a lot of sense for me personally. I know the card used to be a bit better and I could do more with multiple cards, but I don’t really want the complexity of all that - It’s a lot better than my Discover Student starter card
13:51 Idk about calling it the CSP cause other youtubers use the acronym for the Chase Sapphire Prefered. That’s just from my perspective on it though. But I do understand the reasoning.
Was just more of a joke and an interesting observation that there’s 2 “CSPs” now haha. Don’t worry, I’ll still only be calling the Sapphire Preferred the CSP
We booked the Mercure Iguazú Falls, Argentina with the Citi Strata Premier, got $100 back and the price on the Citi portal was $200 less than on the Accor website. 3 nights cost us $400.
The Apple Card is my first credit card and for my usage, it’s very good. I barely buy groceries. I don’t pay rent. My gas spending is not that much. I get 2% cashback on every place and it’s very intuitive and easy to use so I’m keeping it as my main credit card. Maybe in the future I will add others.
@ for the Apple Card? Weird, I got accepted with only a secured card before it and only had that for a year, and on top of that I got a credit limit increase in less than 6 months
Could agree with this more! The coupon book needs to stop. Or at the very least they need to be 6 month credits vs monthly credits do that they’re easier to use
@@Srism-leetit’s not elitist. Do you think about or use Disney cash back coupons? Or Xbox/play station rewards? What about McDonald or 7/11 or Walmart promos?
Just got a CSP. The biggest concern I have is the Lyft partnership (5X points) expiring, and as a guy who lives across a parking lot from a grocery store, I'm already looking for another card to cover those.
Doesn’t Apple make the physical card titanium so it makes people use it, but they only get 1% saving Apple money. Isn’t this line of thinking very obvious?
Is there any credit card that has nothing to do with travel? Like I don't really take flights or travel outside the country like I used to. I don't care about the travel points.
You should consider the Sam’s Club Mastercard kinda like the SavorOne card. It has 3% dining 1% everywhere else AND.. 5% on Gas for 6,000 per yearly quarter which CAN come to good use for those that work or travel a lot from state to state. I use it for the 3% dining now with the higher limit of 7k aside from my newly raised 2.5K limit SavorOne card but the SavorOne also always comes with me in my wallet just in case!
I don't think you mentioned that you get cell phone insurance with BILT if you use it to pay your bill. I've never used it, but it's nice knowing I have extra protection for this expensive device, which now seems vital to life in the USA. Also, I keep my BILT card as the default payment method in my Apple wallet. This is an easy way to keep it for small restaurant purchases, such as Starbucks, when I'm out, and it's easy to keep track of the number of transactions to ensure I have the minimum amount each month.
6:10 I know this is a haters guide video but the biggest benefit for me with the Apple Card is that you can make your cash back go directly into your savings account. It helps you save money without thinking about it which is nice when you get 3% back at more locations now.
Owning the amex play, and spire reserve I can say the Amex gold is probably the most useless card I have now. Might opt for venture X instead. The travel credit alone is super easy to use and brings the effective fee way down.
After moving to Colombia 🇨🇴 last May, the gold card doesn’t make sense. I only benefit from the 4X at restaurants, and the resy benefit. Maybe an occasional USA visit, but not worth it still. Fortunately my annual fee went thru before the new fee went into effect. Have until July or August next year, can’t remember. Here’s the kicker. My Bilt card was mostly what I used here until November. I notice that cafes, and other small food establishments aren’t registering for 4Xpts here with the Amex Gold, but it does with BILT after comparing both cards on points. Until I cancel it, I’m just going with I strictly use the Gold for restaurants, and BILT for everything else. I’m also a roommate to a family member, back in the USA, so I still get the rent points benefits. I pay, they just send me the money. Their credit score went up also, they just informed me.
Hey Daniel I am new to the credit card game and have one big question I can’t find a clear answer to: If I have a card with a $1000 credit limit and I spend $300 then pay the balance and then spend on it more and pay it completely off before the statement close date, does that count as a credit utilization of 30%, more than 30% or 0%?
Yes, if you use $300 on a credit line of $1000 your credit utilization is 30%. That being said, credit reporting agencies check with relative frequency so one week it may say 30%, if you pay off that $300 and say rack up say $40 of new charges… your credit utilization for that report will read as a 4% utilization.
Reply: cash is always KING. Points get devalued, liKe Hilton is reportedly planning to do. Many nice places aren't in chains so points are of no value.
This is just me and I live near a delta hub so take that into account in your decision, but I think the gold delta skymiles American Express is a pretty good card. $0 fee first year - then $150 after that. First checked bag is free for each person on your trip (I think up to 8 people, according to AMEX) and the $100 delta stays credit to me eliminates the annual fee. If you travel a good bit, or with multiple people then you’re basically making money. Works for me well so just my opinion.
Citi's customer service is great, its just foreign. They always resolve everything for me but i think people are being scared off by the foreign accent
Do you think you can make a video on the Amex Hilton honors credit cards? I’m 21 it’s my first Amex card and I don’t know too much on the points given back to me after purchases
Cuz depending on your wants, that fee can be offset by perks. If you get boosted rates on mileage returns and club passes for $99/y, it’s a waste for someone who never travels but an obvious win for people who take at least one trip a year.
Rewards cards are dumb, getting you to dance around for your dinky rewards. Get zero percent cards, pay the 2% transfer fee, invest the money. Only do this up to 30% of your total credit. Accept a new 0% card when the intro APR ends and repeat.

@ how do you figure Cash beats points? I guess if you have no interest in traveling but with points I can use it as cash or get crazy value with transfer partners. Options are always better in my opinion.
Can you make a video talking about what credit cards/company’s you can take advantage of via sign up bonuses and stuff like that as it’s a good way to make a few hundred extras dollars while also practicing good financial decisions
I definitely plan on closing my amex gold now. The credits are too hard for me to earn.
Yeah I totally get that. I think there’s too many credits and I don’t like that most of them are monthly. Makes it harder to get back enough value for some people
4% everything on US Bank smartly with no limit is a game changer
This was a great video! I will keep my CSR and get rid of my AMEX Gold since they've really gone down hill recently.
This was a fun take. Really enjoyed this video.
All I know is the wallet app for the Apple card is infinitely better than any other card and makes seeing how much I have actually spent so much easier.
But… the wallet card is using…. Said credit cards
really great take Daniel! Happy holidays and always enjoy your videossssss
Ahh... I see you are rockin' the Hamilton Murph. Good taste.
Good eye! Haha yeah I’m a big fan of the look of that watch and the background of it so I had to get it
This was a fun video. And yes, Citi has the Worst customer service out there 😂
The annual fee for Amex cards is waived for active US military and disabled veterans who ask nicely.
I believe it’s the same for the chase card. Doesn’t work for capital one cards though
Whoa real? What's the required disability rating?
@ it’s not an official policy, so there is no required disability rating. I just plead my case every year and ask nicely. Something to the tune of “I was in the military for ten years, I became totally and permanently disabled due to a service related injury, I can’t work anymore but I’m in school trying to train into a new field, I really appreciate the value that the Amex Platinum card has been providing me since I was 18 but I feel like I can’t afford it on my limited income especially with a wife and two kids. I would greatly appreciate being able to continue being your customer if there’s any sort of discount you could offer me.”
They’ve waived the fee every year.
The 3x online grocery should be on the CSR too
I’m going back to using straight cash from the atm now thanks for the video.
Chase portal and the customer service is not great. You often pay a higher rate for your hotels
Sofi went from 4% to 3.80% for saving in just one month… since he recorded
Idk i feel like you were a little too reserved. You could have easily mentioned how Amex and VX points are only worth if booking international flights. Also zero mention about the VX $300 credit is knly redeemable through their portal.
Honestly got the Amex Gold, got the sub, and now it's worthless. I can't recoup the credits because I do not use any of those services or eat at any of those places otherwl than force myself to Dunkin. Transfer partners are not the ones I would use so I am focusing on my Chase setup and my USBAR. I will be cancelling asap.
Finally, a video for a D1 hater like me (jk I try not to hate on every card unless they have costs with zero benefits or something like that)
Glad you liked it Peter! Haha yeah lots of videos focus on the positives on every credit card, but obviously they’re all flawed in their own way
@@Daniel_Braun Yeah for sure; that's why diversification is also pretty important (but of course that brings up the problem of simplicity vs complexity), but that's part of what makes the credit card journey so interesting
The bookings on chase are more expensive than booking through other portals. Regarding car rentals, i use to be able to rent a car from a place down the street but now, only at an airport in another state.
the fact that discover it made it onto this list is hilarious to me
I just got a Costco visa at 20, pretty pumped for it
Company branded cards are what I avoid most
@ I’m a college student and I get all my gas, which is my biggest expense, at Costco. That coupled with the decent catch all benefits made a lot of sense for me personally. I know the card used to be a bit better and I could do more with multiple cards, but I don’t really want the complexity of all that - It’s a lot better than my Discover Student starter card
@@henryojeda2890I believe Costco visa also gets 4% at other gas stations but it may have changed so double check for sure.
That card is great if you go to Costco a lot. We live close to one and get all our gas there as well.
Strata is my fave card of 2024. Choice hotels are severely underrated! 😉
Always good deals to find with any hotel partner! Some are just more consistently valuable than others
Jesus the man knows everything about these credit cards talk about impressive work
Happy with my Sofi world elite Mastercard, 2.2% cashback on everything since I have direct deposit set up
Cancelled my Amex gold, now I'll cancel my apple. Pretty happy with my 95$ citi trifecta so far!
You get someone admiring your credit cards. Who pays attention to what card anyone uses. I know I don't.
I have Amazon prime chase and freedom unlimited and Apple Card with 10k limit each. Amex won’t stop bugging me am but I want the Costco anywhere visa.
Same but I also use discover so those my two best now I’m just looking for good travel card
I dont understand how people get accepted as their first card. I have 750 credit and the chase trio and i have been getting denied instantly for years
@ for the Apple Card? Weird, I got accepted with only a secured card before it and only had that for a year, and on top of that I got a credit limit increase in less than 6 months
Went from $2,500 to $3,800
@ ohh sorry I forgot to put as my first unsecured card, I did have a secured card before from a local bank
Great take!
Thanks Lani! I had a lot of fun on the takes for this video haha
I’ll always have a love hate relationship with Amex lol. Amazing customer service, amazing SUB’s but damn those coupon cards.
Could agree with this more! The coupon book needs to stop. Or at the very least they need to be 6 month credits vs monthly credits do that they’re easier to use
If you’re even thinking about the “coupons” on Amex cards, you don’t have the lifestyle/business that they’re meant for.
@@_iErikhorrible weird elitist advice
@@Srism-leetit’s not elitist. Do you think about or use Disney cash back coupons? Or Xbox/play station rewards? What about McDonald or 7/11 or Walmart promos?
@@newagain9964 the fuck? These aren’t even in the gold benefits
Very comprehensive and informative, but you talk so fast that I had to slow down the play back
Yes do a part 2
Definitely making a part 2!
I dont understand all the hate for wells fargo. Had their cards for about 3 years now and never had an issue with them🤷🏻♂️
Is there any credit card that has nothing to do with travel? Like I don't really take flights or travel outside the country like I used to. I don't care about the travel points.
Yes there are a lot of them.
Most of them, but they don't pay referral marketing. Get a Fidelity 2% cash back card. Or a PNC cash unlimited 2% cash back card.
Most are not, do your research. Just get one without an annual fee that gives you 1.5-2% back
@@FactStorm agreed. they're just cash back credit cards and tend to have no annual fee
You should consider the Sam’s Club Mastercard kinda like the SavorOne card.
It has
3% dining
1% everywhere else
AND..
Unfortunately, Apple Card is my oldest credit line. So, I just keep it open by paying some of my wifes subscriptions.
Forgot about the $95 annual fee on capital venture still better than my boa travel rewards
I like the airport lounges
I like my Apple Card cuz it’s nicely integrated with my phone and you get your cash back pretty quickly.
What if I don't have to pay the annual fee for majority of these cards? Would your assessment change?
I GOT AN APPLE CARD AD AT RIGHT AFTER THE APPLE CARD SEGEMENT STARTED IM ROLLING🤣
I legit thought it was part of the video
Never had any customer service issues on Citi.
Hey Daniel I am new to the credit card game and have one big question I can’t find a clear answer to:
If I have a card with a $1000 credit limit and I spend $300 then pay the balance and then spend on it more and pay it completely off before the statement close date, does that count as a credit utilization of 30%, more than 30% or 0%?
Yes, if you use $300 on a credit line of $1000 your credit utilization is 30%. That being said, credit reporting agencies check with relative frequency so one week it may say 30%, if you pay off that $300 and say rack up say $40 of new charges… your credit utilization for that report will read as a 4% utilization.
@@mediaproductionpro thank you this makes sense!
Great I just got Bilt
Reply: cash is always KING. Points get devalued, liKe Hilton is reportedly planning to do. Many nice places aren't in chains so points are of no value.
What's the summary please? Which one do you suggest to take ?
High Value video from a High Value Man!
wait, other people have an active cash? i thought i was the only one.
wells fargo FTW
Part 2 please
What are the best airline credit cards? Airfare has taken off recently even without the nickel and diming to the gate
@@vern3681 Thanks. Atlanta was on my list and I fly at least twice a year so it would pay for the fee.
Citi's customer service is great, its just foreign. They always resolve everything for me but i think people are being scared off by the foreign accent
Just got a chase sapphire reserve this year and now use it as my everyday card and use my discover card when I can get 5% CB
Get the freedom unlimited to get 1.5% minimum on every purchase (instead of 1% on CSR) and transfer those points to CSR for travel.
Me seeing this a week after getting my sapphire card 😅
Do you think you can make a video on the Amex Hilton honors credit cards? I’m 21 it’s my first Amex card and I don’t know too much on the points given back to me after purchases
I don’t get why people use credit cards with fees.
Cuz depending on your wants, that fee can be offset by perks. If you get boosted rates on mileage returns and club passes for $99/y, it’s a waste for someone who never travels but an obvious win for people who take at least one trip a year.
Is there a way to see what you can book on capital one portal before you commit to getting the credit card?
Wait if you have 20 credit cards, what do you even do with all of them after you got that sign-up bonus or whatever?
Is that a Hamilton Murph on the wrist? 👀
It is! Very good eye to spot that haha
One of my favorites that's why lol
Same here, I think it’s such a nice looking watch and I wear it all the time now 👍
The freedom unlimited & sapphire both get 3x on dining
Is that a Hamilton Murph I see?
It is! Just got it last month as sort of an everyday wear watch that I loved the look of
@@Daniel_Braun It is a great watch!
Rewards cards are dumb, getting you to dance around for your dinky rewards.
Get zero percent cards, pay the 2% transfer fee, invest the money. Only do this up to 30% of your total credit. Accept a new 0% card when the intro APR ends and repeat.
Keep up the contrarian stance. It has a place here. More than the love we have for our cards, we have hate.
Didn't even mention Gemini Credit Card. Getting Popcat back is 😏
Apple Card has one overlooked benefit: NO FOREIGNER transactions fees! that just alone is worth alone $$$ to travelers.
I have the chase slate, prime and unlimited freedom. I use amaon a lot so I'm sticking with my prime card.
What should I upgrade my chase slate to?
