RUclips is in a hard place. I'm not one to feel bad for corporations but they're in a hard place. RUclips simply isn't profitable for Google. RUclips is still an experiment for Google. RUclips doesn't purposefully "turn their back" on creators, they're hand is forced by advertisers. You won't believe how unlikely it is for this platform to exist; how anyone can upload unlimited amount of content for free and have it delivered by a fast CDN and even make money from it. So it's not "simple" it's a mess that can only be fixed if the cycle of controversy -> media blames yt for what creators do -> advertisers flee.
They over used Fortnite, back in 2012 Minecraft was a boom and only appears a few seconds in the 2012 Rewind. I think that is why everyone hates Fortnite right now.

Because this is the job of a production company. The scale of a video like this is too large for just a group of creators coming together to do. In any economical way atleast. Keep in mind RUclips Rewind isn’t made by “some company”. Portal A interactive is a company that’s made huge productions for the likes of Disney, Universal, Google, Sony, Macy’s, Warner Bros, and a whole bunch more. They’re a pretty capable studio, but what more then likely made this video come out the way it did was RUclips meddling with the production. Don’t blame this fiasco on the passionate team of video people who made it, blame it on RUclips.

Right now most creators are extremely upset because we feel like we lost RUclips to the corporation and that it is only a matter of time before it becomes "cable". We all need an alternative to RUclips asap. Sure there already plenty of new options, but none have what RUclips has. We all love RUclips, but we can all also see the writing on the walls. Well it is pretty bad for a company like RUclips to not know what its audience actually wants and provide that. This is not the TV. Sure, both of them come from the same background, but so does Casey. Will Smith seems to actually care about how youtube works, unlike late night show hosts who only post highlights of their shows. He had a big advantage coming into RUclips, but he is still a vlogger.
Yeah Will Smith is definitely a true RUclipsr to me. He shows realness, makes great and personal content, and it's only available on RUclips. Sure he's a new category and different from many other creators, but I think he's doing an amazing job bringing something new and fresh to our beautiful youtubes. Bashing or dismissing him just because he's already a mainstream celebrity makes no sense - if anything it should be celebrated.

That whole campfire scene was stupid af and one of the main reasons the video received so much negativity.
For example, they were applauding themselves because they took sponsorship deals from BetterHelp to talk about mental health and buying their services. Trashy and exploitative.

The scale of a video like this is too large for just a group of creators coming together to do. In any economical way atleast.

Portal A interactive is a company that’s made huge productions for the likes of Disney, Universal, Google, Sony, Macy’s, Warner Bros, and a whole bunch more.
They’re a pretty capable studio, but what more then likely made this video come out the way it did was RUclips meddling with the production.
Don’t blame this fiasco on the passionate team of video people who made it, blame it on RUclips.
RUclips was good until 2014. It all basically changed when they in my opinion started paying youtube high money on videos that shows no skills and talents and turning this site as an actual Monopoly company. The only pages l like that do deserve a pay here are those who do animation, movie/game reviews and news like channels.

In Rewind's case inclusivity was notably about excluding PewDiePie.

The reason the video fell flat is because the video represented everything that most RUclips Creators Hate about RUclips right now, the over corporatization of RUclips itself. Most viewers are also used to a certain kind of content in which there is no real censorship, of voice and ideas. RUclips is becoming the very Network stations and Hollywood that most of us could never access. Right now most creators are extremely upset because we feel like we lost RUclips to the corporation and that it is only a matter of time before it becomes "cable". We all need an alternative to RUclips asap. Sure there already plenty of new options, but none have what RUclips has. We all love RUclips, but we can all also see the writing on the walls. RUclips will go the way of MySpace and a new RUclips will emerge with the same anarchistic mentality which got us all here in the first place.
