I’m so happy that this documentary ‘s been made. My father was in no. 2 Hold of the ship, he was rescued by the Chinese and taken to their village. Before being recaptured by the Japanese and taken to a prison camp for remainder of the war. He never spoke about it but read the book about it. He died in 1983. His name was Frederick Watkins and he was in the Signal Regiment of the Army. Sept. 2024

I was born in Nanning, China 1983. My grandparents were Chinese soldiers fought against Japanese during WWII and also were arrested and tormented by Japanese before 1949. Now I live in USA but i am different from other Chinese Americans because I learned from my grandparents. I told American friends or others that it is not my choice to give Japanese my forgiveness for whatever my grandparents and their people of generations. I don’t hate Japanese but I can’t give them my forgiveness.

Unfortunately, Brits today are very fond of anything japanese and it is unprecedented. They won't express their appreciation or fascination for subjects or objects related to Chinese but will go 'gah gah' over japanese. Strange behaviour.
