I just wanted to share something funny about overanalyzing that I just went through.
I'm dating a guy (we're committed now), and we went out yesterday. The bartender was young and pretty and I felt a little tense (working on having higher self-esteem), but felt I did a good job of not showing it. Anyway, my guy was very sweet to me in front of her, and made it known we were together. Later, I told him appreciated how affectionate he was, and he said "That's always how I am..." and almost immediately I went inside my head and was thinking things like, "so I'm not special?" 😂😂 Thankfully I did not say those things to him, and instead slowly talked myself off the ledge. Dating and relationships can be stressful for someone like me! 😂😳
You're on point with this. I'm a gay male but I think it applies equally to everyone. For me, thirsty social media has become a HUGE turn off. Examples are too many of the same selfies, gym pics, topless bathroom mirror pics, pics from partying in Mykonos, LOL. It just screams the need for validation and attention.
So well said. People are so insecure and it's everywhere, and we're buying into this dynamic and start thinking it is normal and we should act the same because everyone else does it.

All I know is that it was easier to date when I was much younger. In my 60's now and the dating scene is much different (as it would be) some 40 years later. Just going through most of this now, and damn, it hurts... In that case, need to do more self work then maybe I won't crash and burn like I just did. I really wasn't prepared or understanding of how this outcome came to be, until I started watching these videos. And I'm not sure if I will be able to heal from an old childhood wound (father issues) in order to ever date effectively again. Ugh.

The problem with all of this catastrophically popular kind of advices is that to follow them will get you "what you want" only in appearance so you never actually get what you want, it's only going to seem like you have it.
If you want a man with whom to team play, someone that you can rely upon but to get this things you always have to keep a "mindset like it wasn't that way" you are just playing pretend and basically emotionally starving yourself simultaneously appearing as if your needs are being met.
