    I'm so impressed! Stop beating on yourself for not eating that much stuff - in the first video you could hardly open the freezer door without things falling out!! You have really done such a great job, and I think the experience isn't just about getting rid of food but also learning more about your food and buying habits (which you clearly did). Be proud of yourself Melissa!!

    Hi Melissa, great video! One way you can get through your oatmeal container is by making overnight oats. Not sure if you've tried it, but it's really good. Throw in some oatmeal in a jar or container and add your choice of milk (or even those protein shakes) and then add whatever toppings you like- granola, nuts, fruit,etc. Place it in your fridge overnight and have for breakfast. Super delicious and quick if you're on the go. I usually make enough for the entire week!

    Melissa, I wanted to share and idea to help you get through the oatmeal packs. Consider putting each pack, when getting ready to use, through a food processor or grinder to help it become more flour like and prepare it for Autum for breakfast.

      Felicia Y great idea!! I'd also add that she can grind it up and throw it in some smoothies. I'd only use the plain flavor for that though because apple cinnamon is quite a unique flavor to pair with anything else lol

    We have six kids so I need to buy everything in bulk and its still gone by the end of the month. I have a honey garlic chicken recipe that would help you use up that soy sauce. Google honey garlic chicken and choose the cafe delights one. Soooo good!

    I thought I would give you the idea of a food storage! instead of not having a lot can goods you should stock up on them in case of any emergency just about anything you can store away including 35 packs of water. and when expirtation date is near just donate or use it up and just purchase again to be prepared! just an idea

    You guys did wonderful.. Do you think you have a reason you guys like to have a stocked kitchen? I'm the same way and get slack all the time about people saying,"oh, we can go grocery shopping at your house"). However mine is more of a phobia cuz I grew up with no food ever in my house. My cabinets are getting pretty bare themselves lately

    You might think about getting a George foreman grill. You can put the frozen turkey, salmon or veggie burgers on there and they are done in 6 minutes.

    From watching you for months I can really say you've done a great job and I can see how much it's changed your perspectives on cooking from scratch etc and it sets a great example for the girls! I know it sounds obvious also but if there are bulk items like the packets of oatmeal that you may think you won't get through maybe donate them to food banks and shelters

    • @hkitty1122
      @hkitty1122 7 лет назад +1

      hkitty1122 our food cupboard accept the ones open as long as there's expiry date on them they won't put them into peoples boxes or on the shelves for them to pick from but they'll probably put the open packages on the shelf of free please take 4 to 10 within reason or whatever. You could also look at bringing them to your kids school for the teachers to put them in their teachers office or give it to your teachers for any kids that are hungry as all you need to do is add water I also don't buy the ones from Costco because it's a multi pack of different flavors and my kids only eat the maple brown sugar so I only buy those and they don't go bad these last for year after the expiry date as long as they are kept in a safe dry place.

    Y'all did soo good. When I was growing we would be flipping out with out our stock pile of food. But where we lived if it snowed we could be stuck not getting out for a few weeks so we did and there was 12 of us in all 11 boys and me . We had alot of mouths to feed. And we cooked from scratch 99% of the time.

    We do a no buy biweekly if that makes any sense. We buy our groceries biweekly and buy absolutely nothing for 2 weeks including meats. We rotate our meat and only buy the kind of meats we need for the meals that are to be prepared for those 2 weeks. I do not like to leave meat to freeze for longer than 2 weeks I use to buy meat daily I don't know it was just a thing I had I fell like if I buy more than for 2 weeks it will get steal.

    I definitely need to try to do a no buy. I should really do it before winter. We live in ohio, not too far from town but kind of on a back road. I TERRIFIED of getting snowed or iced in and not being able to get out and get things we need. So my fridge, freezer & cabinets are WAY fuller in the winter months.

    I've always liked getting groceries but I find ever since I had my daughter and she started eating regular food I buy so much more in bulk and a lot of variety more than ever and my freezer is packed and my pantry as well but when I see that it's getting to be too much I won't go to Costco that month at all and I'll focus on just my regular grocery store items instead so we start eating what's in there to bring it down before I restock again.

    I think you did wonderful! We try and do the same thing quite often, we only go to Costco every other month, partly because we have to drive at least an hour away to go there or to Sam's. I agree with you about not buying some things at Costco, like gallons of milk. However I do buy the 1 1/2 gallon box of lactose free milk, since i pay the same amount of a gallon of it locally. We have also had great luck buying meat at Costco, better in fact than Kroger or Walmart.

    • @hkitty1122
      @hkitty1122 7 лет назад

      RaeKopplin50 that's crazy because I swear everyone is always like omg meat is so good at Costco! And every time we go it's so so expensive compared to buying at our local grocery store. 😩 I must be missing something!

    • @RaeKopplin50
      @RaeKopplin50 7 лет назад

      hkitty1122 it is more expensive on the whole but we always break it down into meals and we can fill our freezer for 2 months without having to buy meat locally since our only option is Walmart and our Walmart doesn't have good meat Aldi is close and the meat is good, but if you don't get there the days the trucks come everything is so picked over

    I used to buy a variety of things like you, but have found that we only ate the same things over and over. I wonder if you made a list of meals you LOVE that you'd only buy things you'll use. I am like you and enjoy grocery shop and always pick up 'new' things that sound good, but then sometimes they sit and sit.
    Yes, I felt that way too when we were trying to purge out our items - realizing I bought things that we really didn't eat or I didn't want to eat now.

I love your videos.

      Odessa maybe try defrosting them overnight. That's what I do a lot to make sure I can get food cooked all the way through. I know it says not to do that on the package but I have never had it come out tasting bad or less crunchy

    I heard that if you drink muscle milk you have to be on a diet or else you can gain more weigh is that true if not can you let me know cuz I wanna get in a diet and can you give me tips of free apps I can download for weight loss and healthier meals please thank you

    • @georgeglass6700
      @georgeglass6700 7 лет назад

      Zuleyka Barrera my fitness pal is my favorite app. Muscle milk will not make u gain weight. It has calories. So, adding it to your diet will add calories. Extra calories will make u gain weight. For example, i consumed 1200 calories, its 7pm and im hungry. My body burns 1600 calories to live. I can drink a muscle milk, or eat a 300 calorie meal. I would still lose weight. As long as i eat less than 1600, i will lose weight. If i eat over, my body will store the extra calories. You can find your metabolic rate online using a calculator. Its very helpful knowing how many calories you should consume daily.

    • @visitor3756
      @visitor3756 7 лет назад

      Zuleyka Barrera Yes it does. Stick to whole food low carb & sugar
      Learn how to eat healthier. That way it's a way of life and you will be set for life. Slow and steady wins the race. Anyone on diets tend to regain plus more once back to regular routine.

      aliciash no I only qualified when Emmy was eligible since she was once a foster child but once we adopted her all of her benefits stopped and were then based on our income.

    Wow you have enough food for an army!The fridge cant work to cool properly when it it overstocked like that.You must waste alot of food because no small family can eat that much.With the stuff you dont like how about donating it to a food bank or homeless shelter.Then it does good and you dont feel you have to force yourself to eat it,just saying.
