Hi, I want to thank you for your video! Today, it was the first time for me when I replaced the filter and I did it. I followed all your steps! I have got Ford Kuga 2014, 150 HP, engine T7MA, the engine is the same as the car from your video. Without your video, I wouldn't succeded it. Thank you so much!!! God bless you!!!
Hello, good video.....do you have to bleed the system after the change?? Or just put the lines back on, turn the ignition on for 30 seconds and then start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes??? ...Many thanks
Very good explanitve on how to remove the fuel lines. Would have been better to remove the 3 bolts with 8 mm socket that hold the plastic filter pot in place. Reason for this is that there is a sump section in the bottom that needs cleaning. There is also a black plastic drain bolt on the plastic pot which you unscrew with a TX30 bit. This will allow you to fill the sump section with solvent and drain out the contamination that will be in the bottom for sure. The last thing you want is inlet/outlet fuel mixing as you swap out the filter. Doing as I described will will remove this risk. By the way,,, main dealers don't even go to this trouble. Never trust a main dealer on this one.
Great video but a lot of faff to changing a regular service item. I have also been told the fuel pipe clips can become brittle with age & break very easy. Ford are known to charge for a new fuel pipe when they, themselves, break the thing to start with....
Just to check, you definitely don’t need to prime the fuel through? I want to check because I’ve seen some comments online regarding leaving the ignition on for 30 seconds before first start and it will also refill the bowl.
I know this is an old video but what are the signs of a bad fuel filter. I am currently experiencing poor acceleration after changing gear It is only for a sort time then it’s fine I was wondering if this could be the problem.
@@darrenjelley8080 There may be several issues at play here. While the fuel filter is an inexpensive option to consider, it's also important to examine the air intake to ensure that the filter isn't obstructing airflow. I've encountered instances where the fuel pump spring on these engines has broken, causing damage to the injectors, which can lead to costly repairs. Additionally, check the breather pipes to see if any have split or come loose. I've performed a smoke test in the past and discovered a crack in the rocker cover, which I replaced. Hope that helps
Thangs for the great Video. Could you might do me a favour and describe where to find the Oil Filter on that kind of motor? i searched yesterday and was not succesfull. Regards Stefan
Stefan Arnold hi I’m very soon due to change the oil filter on my Edge (same engine as this Kuga) This one in particular has a screw on filter at the bottom front in the centre and you get to it from underneath the vehicle. Some of the slightly older Kugas have a element filter which is located at the front again but you do from the top left and remove the filler pipe. Hope that makes sense and helps
I did 5 year service recently by myself, and i could not find where to drain the fuelfilter from water as changing the fuel filter is in 6 year service. Do you know where and how to drain it from water? Anything special to keep in mind?
At the back of the fuel pot casing you will find a black plastic bolt. You need a torx (TX 30) bit to unscrew it. That will drain out any water and can also drain down the filter housing when changing the filter.
I have always changed fuel filters either every couple of years or around 25k to 30k. Which ever comes first. After I changed this one and one on my Edge, I immediately noticed a difference in both. This Kuga also was suffering with loss of power on the motorway. Filter changed and been perfect since.
Hi. Nice tidy job there. I have the same specs of Ford Kuga 2.0TDCI 2016 Powershift. I closely observed your method and saw that you didn't need to prime after replacing the filter. Is it not required here?
Hi, Done a few of these and not needed to prime. Think I might have put some diesel in the housing. Just done the powershift gearbox service on my Edge as it’s 4yrs old. Be putting a video up shortly when I’ve edited it.
@StangsGarage hi see the powersshift Gearbox on my ford kuga I serviced it on the 24 09 2021 it's not every 4 years is it as I saw on ford intervels is 30,000 to 60,000 is this also to do with how much milleage u done. As I had mine done on 44 906millage and its on 051325 Millage now please let me know
Paul Baldry No. I did on an Edge and a Kuga and had no problems at all. I emptied the fuel filter encasement and refilled with fresh diesel. Started on the button but I did keep the revs up for a couple of mins straight away to make sure there was no air in the system. Hope that helps
Paul Baldry Some you do, especially if they don’t have a pump in the tank to force the fuel up to the engine. But had no issues on the this engine. cheers for the sub 😀
Why are you telling people to disconnect the battery? I’m a mechanic 30 years I never disconnected the battery in any service.... what is the benefit of doing this? Apart from losing the radio code.
Springer spaniel for those that are experienced like yourself it’s not so much of an issue but when I’m messing around with fuels and showing others I prefer to make sure that they is no chance of a spark so will always disconnect the battery. Can never be too careful. Stay safe
Better remove battery head. I had a nasty experience when I was changing oil filter in Renault Grand scenic 2011. Because the engine compartment is very tight and as was trying to maneuver the metal oil filter removal tool, this tool slipped out my hand and fell in between the alternator and some part with electric charge, there was a spark which worsened as I even tried to wriggle the tool out of that space. The whole car went dead as it affected the ECM. Car couldn't start and I had to call a towing company to ferry my car to the garage. That cost me £100. The garage changed components plus labour and that cost me £280.And so in all it cost me a nail biting £380 to change just my oil filter and so it's a yes and wisely precautionary to disconnect battery heads before doing anything in the engine compartment.
@@StangsGarage hi pls i took my kuga15 for filter change but was smelling fuel afterthe change when i picked it up and driving away ..also noticed car consume more fuel for short distance more what did they do wrong...

Great video, I've just purchased my kuga and I'm contemplating giving it a full service. Thanks that's the fuel filter sorted
Thank you you, this is exactly same as my C Max and you have really helped me see the process.

Before first startup keep ignition on for 30 seconds. fuel pump in tank will bleed and fill up new filter

Very good and informative, thanks! Going to change my filter soon.
Thanks just used this video to change the filter on my 2015 ford focus LW wagon and it uses a totally different fuel filter to the 2012 model, arrgh

Do you have to top up the filter with fuel, or would motoring inject sufficient fuel to start it up eventually? Thanks
Good job mate !
Hi, you don’t need to bleed ?
Will share this on our social media, if thats ok of course.
Yeah sure that’s fine
After how many miles need to change fuel filter? So fare 32k done.

No need to draw the fuel back through ?
Good question.
No, I made sure to rev the engine to about 3000rpm for 3-4 seconds, then it should idle perfectly
Always wear gloves when working with fuel, esp diesel due to the bacteria.
No need whatsoever to disconnect the battery!
How much oil does it cost?
would be this be the same process as my 2014 focus which aslso has the same 2.0 engine ?
