Hi Adam, my name is Gilbert. I have the same 60 Buick Electra, except mine is the base model. I've had it for 40 years now. Good luck with your 60 Buick, nice to see you have the same car as me, 60 was the first year of the tri shield emblem in front, mine is sable black original gloss black lacquer paint. I rebuilt the engine when I was 17 years old and still runs like a champ, I got the interior done, headliner, seats, dash, rug, it's a very nice daily driver. This one is my baby of my classic car collection. I also have a 65 Buick Riviera, Sea Foam green. Love your videos on repairing classics, thank you.
That's a really special car! Love the color combo of blue inside and gold on the outside. You know nobody else has one like that! The previous owner really set you up for this car and beyond here. Fwiw, it really doesn't need much at all to be the best cruiser pretty quick!
Much respect for you, and what you do. I grew up working in my father's body shop from the time I was old enough to push a broom. God bless you for the smile you still have on your face!
I own one of these '6 window sedans'...mine is midnight blue and has air conditioning.."Betsy" has 59 thousand miles on her and I have had her for 22 years...they only made 8,029 of these! Lovely car! They drive wonderfully and are a pleasure..
wish I still had some of my fathers' old Buicks. '58 Buick Roadmaster, '63 Wildcat convertible, '69 Rivera, & '77 Limited Electra,, After that things started running south. Thank you for what you do preserve a piece of history.
27:15 when did auto makers start using million mile odometers? Best I can find is around 1990. I had a 95 Dodge and a 96 Nissan Hardbody both had 6 digits. Of course all vehicles use 6 digits now.
Nice 60 buick i have a 60 lesabre 2 door ht maroon and white its on you tube as 60 buick start up im so glad to see sombody put normal ww tires on instead of rubber band tires and big hoops
In my opinion one should go with NOS materials for the interior. More than anything, the interior gives a car its vintage vibe. Seeing modern materials in the interior greatly detracts from a car.
I ended up with correct pattern fabric from SMS in Oregon. I replaced all of the fabric on the seats and installed new carpet, new headliner. Turned out beautiful. EXPENSIVE but well worth it.
Adam: the brown seats are toast. almost impossible to replace just components on something so old. The blue on the whitewalls? Pumice stone. You DA man!!!!
@@antiqueautomotiveservice When I had my car lot the upholstery guys always refused to insert old material due to some kinda fading and the stitching being fatigued from age. In this case the material needed isn't that expensive as y'all won't need that much. BTW, what does Simon have to say about all of this?
Hi Adam Wayne from Victoria Australia just watched your new video on the 60 225 six window I have a 63 225 six window that was sold new with right hand drive conversion by gmh . I always look forward to your next instalment as you are very informative and a natural presenter also covering a lot of buicks doesn't hurt again thank you for the content regards wayne
Fabulous possibilities with this one. Love the fact that the 6 window roof is shared with Cadillac. Oldsmobile had to wait until 1961 to get their turn which was a major upgrade in my opinion.
The 1960 Buicks were probably the last REAL Buicks - Torque Tube, exclusive Buick frame. Starting 61, Buicks used the same basic frame that Chevys and Cadillacs used and used an open drive shaft.
Between Warrenton and O'Fallon there are dozens of independent tire shops. Heck, I worked at a new car dealership in St Peters and they will install tires purchased elsewhere... of course no warranty other than proper installation. I think its about $125 for 4 tires mount n balance. Does not come with lifetime rotation though.
I had never had an issue up to this point. Looks like I have a new tire shop now, though. It still baffles me that a big name shop couldn't figure out how to set the beads on these, when the mom and pop shop had the right stuff to do it in 10 minutes....for all 4 tires LOL
It needs a frame off restoration. I had a 60 Le Sabre 2 door bubble top. If this was a 2 door hardtop. I would not mind taking on this project. But being 4door Electra, I would pass on this one.
In my youth I had a pristine black Buick1960 Electra 225 jewel. Except mine was the 4-window version (the "space car look") rather than the more conventional 6-window version seen in this video. And mine had factory air, to top it off. Sadly, the engine eventually needed a valve job and in those days, restoration was not commony done on older Amercian cars. My next car (in the fuel conscious 1970s) was a Volvo. Shame on me!
It took quite a while to sort through it for sure. I was able to get it back on the road and happy again, though. The 225 Riviera hardtop was the top of the line, more expensive than the flat top. So if you bought this new, you were doing well.
I'll have to look. I'm at the mercy of the merchant who provides the service, and I don't get notifications things are out of stock. I'll take a look tomorrow.
Engine oil is a weird thing...you'll have 50 opinions about it. I try to stick to something in the 10w40 range, but make sure it has high zinc content for flat tappet cams. Transmission fluid...dextron or equivalent.
I think it all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay. This was advertised for 6500 and I inquired. Seller was very forthcoming about issues and we agreed on a price that was fair.
Lookin’ good buddy!!!
You're a good man, Adam
Glad you got one for you! Great looking car, and you’re right about wheels and tires. Can’t wait to see what’s next!!

Hey Gilbert. Just saw your comment. I'd really like to see a video on your 60 Electra and the Riviera. Or any others you have.
Thanks... Doug
The 59 and 60 Buick were never my favorite body design. But that is a clean one.
1960 electra is heaven on earth

I attempted to support you with merchandise.

Can’t wait to see the next episode with your sweet 60 Electra 225 My fave Electra 225 is 1964
Can’t wait to see more!

Good information on the wheel bolts. I’ll have to check to see if my 61 has the same configuration.

22:30 is that a night light on the end of the grab handle? The red plastic looking piece.
No it's just a reflector.

I'm not sure...it was pretty late.
When I was 21 in 1967 I had a 1960 LA Sabra four door flat roof my car I wish I still had thanks for sharing

Very nice electra . I have a 67 electra and riviera I love buicks I also have a 65 Riv

I was successful on my 58 swapping the fabric inserts....hopefully it can be done on this one. If not, then we will have to make new ones.

Cool car!
enough said.
Hi ! What was the tire and tire size used please??
Coker Classic bias ply 8.00x 15 with 2 1/2" white wall

I’ve had a few GMs that had duct tape “bodywork” too 😂
I just bought the same exact car and waiting for delivery to start tinkering
Use SOS or Brillo pad to clean blue from white walls or clean dirty ones
I want that green Roadmaster in the background
I think the car you're talking about is a Limited...it's back home in Chicago now.
The 1960 Buicks were probably the last REAL Buicks - Torque Tube, exclusive Buick frame. Starting 61, Buicks used the same basic frame that Chevys and Cadillacs used and used an open drive shaft.
It's a GM, so it will need some work on rusty spots but it's so sweet...
unlike Ford's that never rust?

I have a small shop I use now. I actually bought my own mounting machine and balancer, but am still setting them up.

Being as independent as possible. You're the boss 😁
Most of the tire shops are won;t mount tires unless you buy through them.

any chance of getting more hoodies in stock?

So...was the duct tape maybe used to hold a tarp on?
The previous owner let me know that he used it to cover exposed metal spots since he had to store it outside.
I could probably find you some more old, worn out Buicks to work on....
Nice project, what can you expect to pay for one in today's market? In like condition .. I like your content thanks.
I think it all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay. This was advertised for 6500 and I inquired. Seller was very forthcoming about issues and we agreed on a price that was fair.

"wouldn't you really rather have a Buick"
Quieres venderme ése auto?
The car is not ready for sale. Maybe one more month.
this had to be above the four door sedan and the flat top. I look forward to your progress
Yes, it was the top of the heap in the Buick lineup.
