I had no idea Del Shannon did country music until I heard this. He was so versatile he could have been a big hit singer in all the genre he did. Such a waste of talent and creativity when he died. He had an awesome voice range. I miss him so much.
Isn't this so sad...we loved his "Hat's Off to Larry" "My Little Runaway" my old early 60s memories and seeing Del at Wink Martindales show at POP aka Pacific Ocean Park...but I never knew he had this magnificent country twang............I wished he was alive and recorded country hits............my heart goes out to his wife and friends.
I just heard this song for the first time about 5 minutes ago and it almost brought me to tears. It's curious that I found out it was Del Shannon, because it sounded so much like Hank Williams to me. The first time I heard this song there was a much more pronounced steel guitar at the end of each verse... so now I need to find out why. It could be misinformation from iheartradio or a number of things..
He was one heck of a country singer. If he wasn't underrated, he would've had quite a few country hits.
This is a real find, Del does a great job.

Nevermind, this is the same thing I heard before...and it blows Hank Williams' original out of the water.
